  3. Yep, getting about that time of year. It's nice to be retired to the country! No more shoveling the snow from the sidewalk and driveway. No more rushing out in a panic to the store to buy milk, bread and eggs. And best of all... No fighting the traffic and slick roads to get to / from work. I do have to venture my way to the chicken coop to get my free eggs and get the occasional log from the back deck for the wood burning stove. So I guess you could say I'm only semi-retired Good luck!

  4. As much charity work as I hear about being done by members here on TGO, I smell an EXCELLENT and truly deserving project. If the next location needs to be built from the ground up, I can say I'd be more than happy to help and I have no doubt several others would say the same. I am of course assuming that this is okay with insurance whatnot. I have no idea but I don't see it being to farfetched for an insurance company to not cover something or increase rates or not want to insure unless they know the building company as a reputable company instead of just a bunch of helpful customers. I'm sure yall are much more familiar with those kinds of details than I am, nevertheless, if there's anything can be done by volunteer work and yall need some bodies, just post about it here on TGO I'm sure you'll get all the help you need.

  5. Well. This has been an evening. Building & range are gone. Inventory was, for the most part, saved due to the overwhelming help we had from customers at the store and ones that stopped as they drove by to help out. Words cannot express how grateful I am to those guys & gals. No word as yet on what caused it. I've heard it started in the vents, I've heard it started in the range, and I've heard a bomb went off and that's what started it (I'm not joking). I'll update as we figure out what is coming next. We will rebuild for sure. Bigger, better, stronger than we were before. And do not worry Rusty, your precious suppressor is unharmed.

  8. What exactly WAS she charged with? There are two instances under the school carry statute. - Illegal to carry going armed. Which if she had ammo in purse on her person, it would technically be. Class E Felony - It's also illegal to carry an UNloaded gun on school property, openly or concealed. Class B Misdemeanor. She could of course also be charged with unlawful carry in addition to the school carry charge. Class A Misdemeanor in public. - OS

  9. Aint no doubt, like many I've have tried the rest. I really hoped the M&P's would have taken me off my Glock fetish but still to date, there's not a modern pistol out there I can shoot and use easier than the Glock brand. Caliber doesn't really matter though I'd rather have a 1911 than a Glock in .45. I have many Glocks I have many mags for my Glocks I have much ammo for my mags for my Glocks. I am happily addicted.

  12. That's why I retired and moved to the country. I came from a neighborhood just as you're describing. Once it started and Section 8 arrived, for sale signs were popping up like Orville Wrights microwave popcorn. I was paying outrageous taxes on a moderate 15 years old home with a lot measured in feet. I had to accept 1/3 the appraised value to get out of Dodge, and I was fortunate at that. Talking to a former next door neighbor a few months ago, things around there have got much worse. They have a second mortgage on their home and are stuck there. It's been my observation in life that when the "hood" starts to turn South, nothing or nobody is going to stop it and you need to get out as fast as you can if financially possible. It's a damn shame!

  15. A person carries a gun into a school and the answer here is to fire the cop that arrested her and pull the license of the firearms instructor (I assume because she is too stupid to comprehend what he said???) We live in a state where carrying guns is illegal. Fire your state legislators.

  16. Try different ammo. The white box Winchester and Bulk Federal tend to be underpowered and can cause this problem. Also, do not oil the rails. Use grease instead. Oil attracts dirt and debris and works it into the rails. With grease dirt and debris just stays on top. Dolomite

  18. An AWB won't happen overnight. I would keep the Marlin, and start sticking some money back. Obama can rattle on about an AWB on TV, but getting one passed is a whole other deal. Even if it could go his way, it will be months or years. BTW... Dolomite speaks the truth. Being a benefactor is good for you.

  20. The government is us. We will not throw the Constitution away. People like Obama will try to do an end run around some things. On the morning of November 7th the citizens of the United States will have spoken. You seem to be a bit more positive about what they will say than I am; I hope you are right. I am absolutely sure that I will never be taking up arms against law abiding American Citizens, and I can assure you I will be on the right side. I will defend my country to my death (if need be) against anyone who tries to illegally overthrow our government no matter how noble they might think their actions are. No one is going to be going door to door and disarming us on any large scale. We can’t be assured that some nut case Chief or Sherriff won’t try it again. When the infrastructure and law enforcement collapses as it did during Katrina anything is possible. But because of those actions we acted to prevent it from happening legally again. I pray that the American people do not reelect Obama. But if that is what they choose; so be it.

  21. I don't know how a Tea Party member would be more qualified than anyone else to give a prediction. An educated guess is the best anybody can do right now. It would be easier if these boys were out of money. They're not. Right now, any "prediction" is really just a guess. This thing is so close that we may not even know on election day. The whole thing could wind up in the lawyers' hands.

  22. When does the law REQUIRE a SCHOOL to be posted? The law clearly states that you cannot carry a handgun into a school. That's posted enough in my book. She violated the law, she has to pay just like the rest of us would. Plain and simple.... "Well meaning law abiding citizens" don't break the law by carrying a handgun onto school property! Dave S

  25. Go to Ophelia Ford's district in Memphis, and they will give you a second, third, and maybe even a fourth chance to cast your ballot. Forms of ID accepted include death certificates (you get to vote twice if the services were held at NJ Ford Funeral Home). It won't really change your choices on the ballot, but will give a couple more opportunities to complain that you were disenfranchised.

  26. I can understand how it is overwhelming for someone that didn't grow up hunting. However, I believe that a Hunter Safety Course would help you understand the basics. It would also be easier to figure out what you want to hunt and focus your efforts there. Depending on where you plan to hunt makes a lot of difference also, private or public land.

  31. I'm not the most informed or smartest person there is but at least I care enough, and smart enough to see the blatent lies and attempted cover ups by the Obama administration on this. This outrage happened because of the administrations fear of the negative flak it would have caused to Obama's campaign to have a terrorist attack so soon before the election when he's been bragging how safe he's made America from terrorists. Unfortunatly there is a large group of Obamatrons that no matter what evidence there is they will continue to deni the crimes comitted by this administration. I heard a great description of a liberal not long ago, everyone's goal in poker is to get a royal flush, a liberal will get a 10,J,Q,K, of spades and an 3 of diamonds, they will take a Sharpie and mark out the 3 and the diamonds and draw in an A and a spade, it will look obvious and bad but they wont care and swear up and down they have a royal flush and will call you a hate monger and racist if you point out the fact they don't have a royal flush.

  35. +1 Also from an email; I NEVER KNEW THIS ABOUT JAPAN Have you ever read in the newspaper that a political leader or a prime minister from an Islamic nation has visited Japan? Have you ever come across news that the Ayatollah of Iran or the King of Saudi Arabia or even a Saudi Prince has visited Japan? Japan is a country keeping Islam at bay. Japan has put strict restrictions on Islam and ALL Muslims. The reasons are: a) Japan is the only nation that does not give citizenship to Muslims. In Japan permanent residency is not given to Muslims. c) There is a strong ban on the propagation of Islam in Japan. d) In the University of Japan, Arabic or any Islamic language is not taught. e) One cannot import a 'Koran' published in the Arabic language. f) According to data published by the Japanese government, it has given temporary residency to only 2 lakhs, Muslims, who must follow the Japanese Law of the Land. These Muslims should speak Japanese and carry their religious rituals in their homes. g) Japan is the only country in the world that has a negligible number of embassies in Islamic countries. h) Japanese people are not attracted to Islam at all. I) Muslims residing in Japan are the employees of foreign companies. j) Even today, visas are not granted to Muslim doctors, engineers or managers sent by foreign companies. k) In the majority of companies it is stated in their regulations that no Muslims should apply for a job. l) The Japanese government is of the opinion that Muslims are fundamentalist and even in the era of globalization they are not willing to change their Muslim laws. m) Muslims cannot even think about renting a house in Japan. n) If anyone comes to know that his neighbor is a Muslim then the whole neighborhood stays alert. o) No one can start an Islamic cell or Arabic 'Madrasa' in Japan. p) There is no Sharia law in Japan . q) If a Japanese woman marries a Muslim then she is considered an outcast forever. r) According to Mr. Kumiko Yagi, Professor of Arab/Islamic Studies at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, "There is a mind frame in Japan that Islam is a very narrow minded religion and one should stay away from it." s) Freelance journalist Mohammed Juber toured many Islamic countries after 9/11 including Japan. He found that the Japanese were confident that extremists could do no harm in Japan. My personal estimation of the Japanese has risen dramatically!

It is laughable to anyone with half a brain that a bunch of UN bureaucrats that serve a bunch of totalitarian thugs could monitor anything in the USA and tell the truth about it. 41. With Tennessee's voter I.D. law they may have a few observers in Nashville on election day, I wish I knew where they would be, it would be fun to get a few people together and organize a citizens, U.N. observer observers group, of course staying within the law to make sure they follow our laws with plenty of video recording.

  47. TN has a state leash law. Dogs are not permitted to run "at large", therefore the owner of the dog that comes out after you has already broken the law. If it was just me walking my dog, I'd react closer to DaveTN's posts. If my kids were involved, I grease that dog without a 2nd thought.

  48. It is the responsibility of the dog owner to make sure their dogs are contained to their property… period. And if the dog is off their property and ends up dead; it’s their fault. I’m a dog lover and I would never kill a dog because he came running up to me, or because a neighbor lets their dog get out. However if a dog was attacking me I have no qualms about killing it. I would probably wait long enough that if I judged its intentions wrong I would get bit before I killed it. However; the owner of the dog is going to pay dearly if I get bit on property I have a right to be on.

  49. It’s easy to say on a gun forum that its “already startedâ€, or that “gun control is comingâ€. But the facts show a different trend. More states are making it easier to carry. The worse the economy gets the more violent crime we are going to have. As more and more violent attacks occur, and they will, most states are not going to try to fix the problem by taking guns away from its citizens; they are going to recognize a need to be able to defend themselves. States are going to have the final say on guns; not the Feds. The 2nd amendment fight is over as far as ownership and carry goes; this is now a States Rights issue. Sure, just like the civil war some will give it lip service the rest of their life, but it’s been decided; you have a constitutional right to own a gun, and it is a right of the state to decide when and where you can carry it. Sure, the Feds are going to try to outlaw some guns. Will they get AR’s outlawed to the point of where you have to turn them in? Doubtful. Will they get restrictions like the AWB on them? They will try. Will they get high capacity magazines outlawed? Probably. I’m not giving up any of my guns, and I have no fears that anyone is going to be knocking on (or kicking in ) my door to take them. Good grief…. Those of you that need a fight to fight don’t need to make up stories of things that are not going to happen. Your economy is collapsing around you. Your children and Grand Children are going to think you are idiots for selling out their future. Take on that battle; it’s one you can win, and it’s real. Instead of trying to figure out how you can run off and hide; stand up and fight.
