Well. This has been an evening. Building & range are gone. Inventory was, for the most part, saved due to the overwhelming help we had from customers at the store and ones that stopped as they drove by to help out. Words cannot express how grateful I am to those guys & gals. No word as yet on what caused it. I've heard it started in the vents, I've heard it started in the range, and I've heard a bomb went off and that's what started it (I'm not joking). I'll update as we figure out what is coming next. We will rebuild for sure. Bigger, better, stronger than we were before. And do not worry Rusty, your precious suppressor is unharmed.8 points

The police could have verily easily told her to immediately take the firearm, secure it in her vehicle, and give her a good lesson about making dumb mistakes with no arrest necessary. I wonder if perhaps she was unable to prove that she had actually just taken a CCW class or got belligerent? Unfortunately, today's officers are not taught to use the discretion the law allows like they were in my day, which is one of the reasons I got out of the policing business.3 points

+1 Also from an email; I NEVER KNEW THIS ABOUT JAPAN Have you ever read in the newspaper that a political leader or a prime minister from an Islamic nation has visited Japan? Have you ever come across news that the Ayatollah of Iran or the King of Saudi Arabia or even a Saudi Prince has visited Japan? Japan is a country keeping Islam at bay. Japan has put strict restrictions on Islam and ALL Muslims. The reasons are: a) Japan is the only nation that does not give citizenship to Muslims. In Japan permanent residency is not given to Muslims. c) There is a strong ban on the propagation of Islam in Japan. d) In the University of Japan, Arabic or any Islamic language is not taught. e) One cannot import a 'Koran' published in the Arabic language. f) According to data published by the Japanese government, it has given temporary residency to only 2 lakhs, Muslims, who must follow the Japanese Law of the Land. These Muslims should speak Japanese and carry their religious rituals in their homes. g) Japan is the only country in the world that has a negligible number of embassies in Islamic countries. h) Japanese people are not attracted to Islam at all. I) Muslims residing in Japan are the employees of foreign companies. j) Even today, visas are not granted to Muslim doctors, engineers or managers sent by foreign companies. k) In the majority of companies it is stated in their regulations that no Muslims should apply for a job. l) The Japanese government is of the opinion that Muslims are fundamentalist and even in the era of globalization they are not willing to change their Muslim laws. m) Muslims cannot even think about renting a house in Japan. n) If anyone comes to know that his neighbor is a Muslim then the whole neighborhood stays alert. o) No one can start an Islamic cell or Arabic 'Madrasa' in Japan. p) There is no Sharia law in Japan . q) If a Japanese woman marries a Muslim then she is considered an outcast forever. r) According to Mr. Kumiko Yagi, Professor of Arab/Islamic Studies at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, "There is a mind frame in Japan that Islam is a very narrow minded religion and one should stay away from it." s) Freelance journalist Mohammed Juber toured many Islamic countries after 9/11 including Japan. He found that the Japanese were confident that extremists could do no harm in Japan. My personal estimation of the Japanese has risen dramatically!3 points

Many are voting for Romney because there is no better option. Don't get too excited. I'm not expecting any radical changes from him.2 points

I can understand how it is overwhelming for someone that didn't grow up hunting. However, I believe that a Hunter Safety Course would help you understand the basics. It would also be easier to figure out what you want to hunt and focus your efforts there. Depending on where you plan to hunt makes a lot of difference also, private or public land.2 points

What happened to the "dislike" button? I didn't care for Jimmy Carter, I didn't care for Bill Clinton... but I have absolutely NO doubt that they loved America. Same for Mitt Romney. Now Obama on the other hand, I am convinced by his words and actions that he hates America...with a vengeance. He thinks like an America-hating outsider. That may tell us something.2 points

As much charity work as I hear about being done by members here on TGO, I smell an EXCELLENT and truly deserving project. If the next location needs to be built from the ground up, I can say I'd be more than happy to help and I have no doubt several others would say the same. I am of course assuming that this is okay with insurance whatnot. I have no idea but I don't see it being to farfetched for an insurance company to not cover something or increase rates or not want to insure unless they know the building company as a reputable company instead of just a bunch of helpful customers. I'm sure yall are much more familiar with those kinds of details than I am, nevertheless, if there's anything can be done by volunteer work and yall need some bodies, just post about it here on TGO I'm sure you'll get all the help you need.1 point

That's a great question actually. I don't have any idea how I got the absentee ballot. I vaguely remember it being mentioned when I registered to vote but I didn't consciously apply for the absentee ballot. All I know is that the ballot has come to my address twice now for 2 different elections so I guess anyone can request it. Again, I have no idea how I signed up for one but I'm glad I did.1 point

I was going to early vote, but my 7 year old son asked me if he could vote too. I told him no, and he then said he wanted to go with me to vote. This was too cool of a request, so I am going to vote on Tuesday November 6th and I am going to take him to the booth to show him how to vote! I could have still taken him to early vote, but I want him to see the process on the day of the national vote.1 point

Yes, Generals have to be politicians to a degree, some that are appointed to a higher office by a president are nothing but a politician but it appears Gen. Petraeus refuses to be Obama's laky and scapegoat, he refuses to be dishonest and dishonor the lives lost because of the administrations incompetence and criminal negligence. Gen. Petraeus is a patriotic soldier before he's a politician.1 point

I'll agree with most of what The Punisher says. I think most people have little or no desire to wake up and smell the coffee, they DO like their heads in the sand. It's much more comfortable living in lala land than it is to live in the real world where we have so many problems. I don't think many like watching what's happening in and to this country but they've grown so complacent that the idea if buckling down and facing the issues confounds and scares them. And of course they love our president, not because he's a commie and not because their commies but simply because he tells those comfortable little lies that allow them to keep living their lives of delusion. IMHO.1 point

From my recollection, and subject to correction by those more knowledgeable than me: Every military officer of military rank beyond Lt Colonel is essentially a "political" actor. They deal with relationships and resources and policy. Every full Colonel and all ranks of General are there for their interpersonal, political skills. General Petraeus is an acknowledged master of this art. Yes. An interesting pick for CIA Director. As a serving General Officer who is also known to be conservative, he became a real hot potato for Obama. A lot of folks think (believe) that Obama put General Petraeus over at the CIA to bury him, to sideline him, to control him, to remove his impact from the Army and the Joint Chiefs. My understanding is that Generals and Admirals never truly retire. Instead, they are "Advanced to the Retired List." They can be recalled for National Service at any time, and I think, without regard to age.1 point

This has been hashed to death already and I am putting an end to it. If a person has any doubts about the law do your own research. If you are still unclear then contact the powers that be for an answer. Do not rely on information on the internet, no matter how the so called expert potrays himself, the expert you rely on might cause you to loose your liberty. Dolomite1 point

Well, since the gun was unloaded, she could have been attempting to <not> carry. If I was a judge, she could easily convince me that she's more of a dumbass than a criminal. In fact, I'm already convinced.1 point

It was top flifght defensive ammo in the late 80's early to mid 90's. They stopped [producing it beacuse the libs thought it was too dangerous and Winchetser caved to their demands. The ammo is a very efficent jacketed hollow point. when it expands in tissue the jacket has very sharo petals almost like talons. Had some years ago. I don't think it is worth the price they are asking but for a collector with more money than sense maybe so. It works out to 1.76 a round. If I remeber correctly it used to be about .75 to .80 cents a round. Expensive but it will stop a zombie cold...1 point

I'm confused on whether this took place in China or the UK. Either way, this "father" needs to suck start an AK. Anyone that would call their own child ugly and take such issue with it is not meeting the minimum requirements to be a loving parent.1 point

Does it? He got the CAB when he was still at the 101st I thought. Either way, a made up award to make people feel better about not being able to get a CIB. I know that stung for a few, but from my perspective it was about the silliest thing they came up with since stealing the black beret from Ranger Regiment.1 point

The heck with that. I've got more tattoos than that one, and even if I hadn't served I'd still want tattoos. Those freedoms are the reason I served.1 point

What?! Are you suggesting that only people who served in the military should be allowed to get tattoos?1 point

What am I missing? If she just took the HCP class, she isn't legal to carry yet anyway. You have to go get fingerprinted, apply for permit at DMV, and wait for it to arrive in the mail, right? Just taking the class doesn't grant you ANY rights to carry at all.1 point

Glad this is not common in Tennessee. My wife would win a windfall for sure if she sued me, and the jury would award her both actual damages and punitive damages. Gosh, I would have to file bankruptcy and probably learn spanish, because I would have live in Mexico, maybe a mobile home on the beach south of the border like that episode I saw on NCIS where Mike Franks lived with a seniorita in retirement.1 point

It was, and still is, a contract between two people in the eyes of the law. Just like a divorce is a contract. Both require the governement to approve it for it to be a legally binding contract. Come to think of it, how far reaching have we allowed the government to get when they can approve and disapprove who you marry? Seems like it should be none of their business but that is just me. Lots of missing detail here. Was she in the car or did she walk into the school? If it was in her pocket, how did the police find out? Just seems like an odd story. I always have my gun when I pick my kids up. I'm not the most informed or smartest person there is but at least I care enough, and smart enough to see the blatent lies and attempted cover ups by the Obama administration on this. This outrage happened because of the administrations fear of the negative flak it would have caused to Obama's campaign to have a terrorist attack so soon before the election when he's been bragging how safe he's made America from terrorists. Unfortunatly there is a large group of Obamatrons that no matter what evidence there is they will continue to deni the crimes comitted by this administration. I heard a great description of a liberal not long ago, everyone's goal in poker is to get a royal flush, a liberal will get a 10,J,Q,K, of spades and an 3 of diamonds, they will take a Sharpie and mark out the 3 and the diamonds and draw in an A and a spade, it will look obvious and bad but they wont care and swear up and down they have a royal flush and will call you a hate monger and racist if you point out the fact they don't have a royal flush.1 point

With my High Noon belt and High Noon Down Under holster along with my P-01, I find it very comfortable. I've even fallen asleep several times with it on and woken up without any regrets or discomfort. I suppose it depends on the following: Firearm, holster, belt, body type, carry location.1 point

I'm running 4 switchable desktops on this Linux laptop. I have Firefox running full-screen in this window, my email client running full-screen in another, a PDF document open full-screen in a third. If I need more desktops, I can add them. I have an app running in my bottom panel showing me the current weather. This is free software - why can't Windows do that?1 point
