  1. it is about time a major(?) newspaper endorsed a candidate based on values and platform. Not electability. Maybe if more of us voted with values and platform in mind the country would not be so foxtrot uniform. Dammit I wish I had not wasted my vote on freaking Mitt Romney. I am sure thats why I felt like vomiting when I left the polls.

  2. I swear, some people amaze me. I cannot tell you how disgusted I have been over the past several months of this election cycle over a lot of the comments I have read here, and the treatment of those who are not Romney-bots. I think it has been pretty shameful, but I guess TGO has more than its share of curmudgeons and/or partisan hacks. In this case, we have the editorial section of paper give it's endorsement to a viable candidate who will be on the ballot in all 50 states. Their reasoning: It may not be what some want to read, but CTFP's reasoning seems pretty sound to me. I don't really see how that can't be considered an intelligent reason, nor do I see how it is a stupid gesture. I have said this many times in the past, but I will reiterate it here. I believe that people should vote for who they think is the best candidate, and that includes, even though it makes me gag to say it, those who will vote for Obama. Just so you'll know, I am fully aware of what I stand to lose if Obama wins reelection.

  3. That voter i.d. crap really eats at me. Even if someone were using voter i.d. as a means of suppression, how difficult would it have been to get a freaking state issued photo i.d. over the last four years. Even If the cost were $100, the lazy, irresponsible bastards have had four years to save $100. There is no excuse! Some things are just too stupid.

Finally Someone Is Talking About Obama’s Imperial Presidency Read more: http://godfatherpolitics.com/7704/finally-someone-is-talking-about-obamas-imperial-presidency/#ixzz2ALcahail "Many conservative writers like myself, have been commenting on Obama’s continual abuse of power by using executive orders to illegally bypass Congress. He acts as if he is above the law like an imperial monarch. In fact, I predict if he wins re-election in two weeks that he will become an imperial dictator and free America will be no more."

  5. An animal should not be shot with ANYTHING that cannot humanely kill it. It should not matter what the animal is or whether it is wild or not. I understand killing animals that must be killed but if it must be done it must be as humane as possible. Dolomite

  6. I have a dog. It is an effective house clearing tool in conjunction with an armed home owner. They can hear, see and smell stuff that you can't.

  7. I can assure that anyone who tries to harm one of my dogs will be met with an overwhelming amount of force. They are my family and you may as well be shooting my wife or son because my response is going to be the same. They never leave our property unless they are leashed so if someone decides to "protect" themselves from our dogs they will no longer need to worry about the dogs. Especially if they are on my property when they decide to protect themselves from our pets. I liken domesticated animals to people in what they can get away with. If a person, or domesticated animal, becomes threatening you remove the threat. If they trespass you run them off and in no way are you allowed to shoot someone, or a domesticated animal, for trespassing. The thought of shooting a dog with a BB gun is reprehensible and actually against the law. With a BB gun it shows that the person has no intentions of removing a threat, only maiming or causing an animal to suffer and possible die a slow miserable death. There was an older gent in Walmart the other day looking for a pellet rifle to harm, and not kill, his neighbors dog. He was told by several people it was against the law. He insisted on buying a pellet rifle and the store clerk told him to go somewhere else. Really surprized me but glad they did it. Hope his neighbor catches him before he hurts his pets or beats him without mercy until LE shows up. Dolomite

  8. My dogs are my family and my hunting partners. Some of ya'll claim you "will shoot" you protect your family at all cost. How about some of us? I'll shoot in defense of my dogs against a human or animal aggressor. I had one poor soul shoot one of my hunting dogs. He'll never do that again! Dave S

  14. I became the proud owner if a SR1911 today. Been waiting for the eagle to land. Today was the day. I called Guns and Ammo in Memphis and their cash price was $669.00 plus tax. I could not drive from Jackson to Memphis for the difference in price and I preferred to buy from my local shop. Funny thing is I have not field stripped a 1911 since back in the seventies when I was in the service. I launched parts all over my study after I got home and spent the next 30 minutes hunting parts. LOL Thought I would never forget...... Can't hardly wait to get to the range and run a few through.

  15. Yea, it sounds like Curtufelli had so much going for him, all he needed was more 1 hit of meth and then he was going to clean up and turn his life around I guess. I am glad to hear that Leone had 5 guns and was able to get to at least one of them.

  16. Some skeet ranges will only allow #8 shot or smaller...ie larger number like 9, 10 or 12. In my SD shotgun I have things loaded in this order. 1. 00 buck 2. 00 buck 3. #4 steel shot 4. 00 buck 5. #4 steel shot 6. Slug 7. Slug All of them are high velocity, high brass loads. No reduced recoil/velocity stuff. The slugs are for the longer distances. Because I am likely to encounter problems at shorter ranges that is why I use shot with slugs being the last. I also believe that the shot will not overpenetrate like slugs so those are also a reason why I chose them first. With that being said even #8 can be very, very devastating at close range like in most homes. Here is a very telling video. Dolomite

  17. Well I will start this, from the other side. A HD shot will be less than 20 feet inside the house. At 20 feet bird shot will work. Now if you are out side use "00". There I started it.

  20. I'm not going to say much because anything I'd say would be held against me in a court of law. But being dissapointed by not getting to kill anything is shameful. And hunting is different. It serves a purpose by providing for the hunter. A true hunter will even tell you to make sure you take a good shot so as not to be cruel to the animal by letting it wander off and die in the woods. Even if a dog did have to be shot it's a sad event. Not something to be relished in. And BTW, most strays are strays because of stupid humans who are irresponsible with their own animals. I'd gladly take a stray in before most people I meet.

  27. I had a 512 on my SCAR but finally decided to switch to a Trijicon Reflex; I find the Trijicon easier to use and no batteries, switches, etc to worry about...you just mount the rifle to your shoulder and you are ready to go. That said, I don't think you would be going wrong with a 512; I just decided I wanted something else.

  30. Personally I like Gary Johnson and have been a supporter of his for a while. I couldn't bring myself to vote for Mitt Romney simply because he is not Obama, which seems to be about the best thing he has going on. I realize that my life would be better with Romney in office as opposed to Obama, but I simply dislike both of them, and for the same reasons on many issues. I was quite happy voting for someone who will not win but stands for the things I believe in rather than voting for someone who I honestly think is little better than what we have. Electing a small improvement is not change. Furthermore I do not expect mine, or any votes for Johnson to change the Republican platform. I agree that that standpoint is ludicrous.

  31. I admit, I usually do not like female singers. It's NOT misogynism I just really don't think 99% of female singers can hack it in hard rock/heavy metal. There are exceptions, few and far between. I seen this ole gal in concert and she is definitely an exception. This broad has a serious set of lungs. They put on a heck of a live concert and she can SING. Halestorm rocks. Ain't been a chick rock like this since Heart!

  32. I'm with you on this.I've had this argument with a couple of liberal friends of mine and they've yet to explain to me how the voter ID law keeps anyone from voting, except of course, those who can't legally vote. It's beyond ridiculous for anyone to claim that anyone eligible to vote in TN can't do so for lack of an ID...the state will practically send a state trooper to hand deliver one to you if you can't find any other way to get one but more to the point, how many people who are eligible to vote and want to vote don't already have an acceptable ID already? The only people really being disenfranchised this election are our military members stationed oversees.

After all, all those dead people have a difficult time getting around so I hope someone helps them get back after they've voted.I guess the one's that died before the horseless carriage days (and therefore have no DL) are just SOL and disenfranchised. 38. Americans have become extremely complacent. A huge percentage of the population goes on from day to day thinking everything is hunky dory and tomorrow will be just like today. They do not know that this country, and the rest of the world, is at a tipping point. They don't realize that tomorrow they may not be able to go to the grocery store and buy food for their family. I am betting the farm that it won't take much for everything to come crashing down at this point. An Obama victory will certainly mean doom for our economy and some of our most basic rights will be challenged. Romney is not the perfect alternative, but at least he will try to make the United States a more friendly place to do business. I do not look for him to dramatically cut taxes or anything, but I don't look for him to raise them either. And at the same time I think he will take a more hard line approach toward countries that are hostile toward America. My viewpoint is that if you kill Americans you die...and every single one of your accomplices will share the same fate. We don't need a POTUS that lets our enemies pick off our citizens and not suffer the consequences.

  43. He should pin this whole thing on a US citizen exercising their freedom of speech. After all, angry Muslims can't be expected to be accountable for their actions in response to our freedoms. I assume that is how his advisors pitched it to him... maybe not in those exact words, but certainly the same sentiment.

  44. Sorry, but dislike of Mitt is not endorsement of Obama. Romney has a horrible gun record. His tax plan is at least questionable since he claims the bottom line for the bulk of the taxpayers will not change. Closing loopholes and raising rates is a wash, if the amount taken is the same, then... you gotta cut spending (instead he plans to increase it, for the military). He has not given us a spending cut plan. His foreign policy does not include cutting off foreign aid to everyone until our debt is cleared off (this is one of the only ways we will ever get ahead economically). He has flip flopped like a fish out of water on more issues than I care to list. Not a commie? If by that you mean he will stop government handouts, you are wrong, he will NOT stop them --- and if they continue, then he is just as bad as a democrat. Obama is awful, that is also painfully obvious. They both suck. There will be little difference: we will still be in debt and digging deeper. The rest of the world will still hate us. We will still squander money on pseudowars. Our freedoms will continue to erode. We will continue to educate the rest of the world to compete against us. The border will continue to be open and illegals will continue to be tolerated and even welcomed. In short none of our many serious problems will be fixed and in that sense they are the same. About the nicest things I can think of to say about Mitt are 1) he is not obama and 2) he may have enough common sense to stimulate the economy a little bit, maybe enough for it to bootstrap. Oh, and 3) no matter what you think, he has agreed with you at some point.

  45. Most dogs won't attack unless you're running away, thus feeding their prey drive. As soon as you turn and square of with them they should cease their advance. Being loud and raising your arms above your head to appear bigger will stop them. The ones that need a dose of lead are the ones that keep coming. They are the ones who will most certainly mess you up. This makes up very, very few dog personalities. I've been chased by loose dogs all the time jogging downtown. I don't take a gun when jogging, and have always been able to stop an advance by doing what I stated above. The problem frequently was that eventually I have to start running again, which starts the whole thing over again. One particular pit followed me for several blocks before it gave up and went home. If I had my gun on me I absolutely would have shot it out of frustration, as I had no way to retreat without being attacked. So I had run-turn around-walk-run and so on. That dog had no business terrorizing the neighborhood and would have been put down anyway had it managed to bite me. Now, if you have a dog of your own with you your actions will probably not override the aggressor dog's attack on your animal, so you can just shoot it on advance and deal with the consequences, or you can beat the crap out of it as it mauls your dog and perhaps gets a few bites on you. No good options. I'm a dog lover and detest crappy dog owners and animal abusers, but I will put an aggressive dog down in a heartbeat if need be.
