Useless device on a well-designed lever-action. Folks have been using the M92 design for 120 years without a safety. If there is a round in the chamber, put it on half-cock. The only truly effective safety device is the one between your ears. Actually, I've changed my mind. The safety on a Winchester or Marlin type lever action is an excellent flinch detector. I can't tell you how many times I've seen a person squeeze the trigger and flinch only to find out the safety was on.2 points

So I've been gone from the forum for a couple years now and haven't gone shooting more than once or twice a year since about 2008 due to personal finances being in the toilet and whatnot, but I feel like we're finally coming out of that awful hole. Debt is gone, we're able to save a good bit, and I'm very thankful that God has honored my wife and I with our own little economic recovery for now. I have been working at Gibson USA in Nashville since the beginning of the year and it has worked out well. I dig my job most days, and I'm very thankful for the better pay. I've been feeding my guitar addiction mostly, but now am getting back into guns again! Last week I cleaned off my reloading bench and plan to start loading again in the next week or two. I looked in my loading notes and haven't made a round for 3.5 years!! Ummm.... pretty sure every one of you knows what a full size M&P .40 looks like, so I won't bother posting pics. I've missed you guys (well... MOST of you anyways ;-) ) and look forward to taking part in the forum banter again. Maybe we'll see each other at the range again soon!1 point

Yup. I spent about an hour with Dr. Lee tonight. ;-) I forgot how much I enjoy my time cranking away on my Lee turret press. I know, it's nothing fancy, but it works for me. I loaded up some simple 38 wadcutters and had a great time out in the garage. What a great way to spend part of my birthday! Wifey got me a S&W M&P 40 over the weekend to celebrate my 30th, too! I haven't had a 40 in over 8 years and I'm about out of components for that caliber, so I'm gunna try to hit up the Reloader's Bench before the end of the week. I love this hobby!!1 point

The kind of people that would riot over this election are the same people that aren't smart enough to make it out of their own neighborhood to do so.1 point

Not too concerned either. If they get to my house they'll be tired from walking up the hills. Plus their unlaced shoes and pants hanging halfway down their asses will slow them down. Stereotype- perhaps. They're stereotypes for a reason. Come to my house intending to do harm and I will show you how equal opportunity I can be1 point

People say "lead poisoning" like it's a bad thing. It won't hurt you. I'm living proof it won't living proof it won't hurt you.1 point

Those are both good options but the Swedish Mausers are far and away the best ones built IMO. Have never seen an Argentine close up so I cant speak to those but Swedish Mausers look like they were put together by fine gunsmiths not an armory.1 point

I don't know, seems the past few years someone's either threatening or predicting race riots over just about anything and everything. If a mouse farts in Ohio there will be threats of a race riot. We're prepared over here, but I won't be holding my breath.1 point

I'd be happy with that. If you want to improve, check out a chart like this one. It suggests you're anticipating the recoil or breaking your wrist up (ie making recoil where there isn't any) http://www.lasc.us/c...o_small.gif.jpg1 point

I think this story is truly representative of how many in the public love to build up heroes only to equally enjoy tearing them down when they do something wrong.1 point

Juries can't be hand-picked. There's a challenge process that involves the defense and the prosecution.1 point

Anyone else irked by the complete lack of effort made to make the firearms seem at least a little bit realistic in the prison yard scene? No recoil, no slide cycling, head shots from a snubbie? Come on guys. CG muzzle flashes? Actually, looks like CG everything in this episode. I might have even been able to look past all this but the scene showing Carol complaining about her shoulder hurting from the recoil just rubbed salt in the wound for me. (Rant off) Other than that great episode! - Oh and I've got no problems with the home made supressors cause the concept is sound. See what I did there?.1 point

Bruce isn't one of them. Still filling big venues in and outside the US. Has a current album on a major label too. Politics aside, he's a big star1 point

Not only that, but he did it 7 times in a row. With all the other PED users, not one of them has been able to get half of that. impressive no matter how you look at it.1 point

Lori: No, it's pretty much a consensus that she sucks and needs to get eaten from the inside out by her walker baby. Carl: It's amazing what the hard winter did to get rid of his whining and make him grow up. Let's hope it sticks. Clearing the prison yard: Why didn't they just stake a lot more through the fence (incl. the outer fence) before Rick went on his run to close the upper gate? So what if the upper yard walkers come down to the lower yard to the fence. It just makes the upper AND lower yard clearing go a lot faster and safer and uses little if any of the scarce ammo. They wasted a lot when a sharp pipe/fire poker through the head would have been sufficient. Hershel snack: Will they never learn to stick everyone in the head, even if they aren't moving? Preventative medicine and all. The same goes for the guard up in the crows nest in their cell block. Sure, it looks like a clean head shot killed him, but why risk it? And the coolest effect of the night award goes to.....pulling the helmet off the guard. That was disgustingly awesome.1 point

Both of these were carried by my Papaw while on the Knoxville City Police Dept. and Knox County Sheriff's Dept. He retired in the late 70's from Knoxville City and retired in the early 80's from Knox County. This was his duty gun for both dept. Bought brand new by my grandmother for a birthday present. Behind the 19-2 you can see the origional holster used by my Papaw. Still in great shape. Garufa, Oh shoot and a few others may remember it from some of our early Norris range outings. S&W 19-2 Next up was my Papaw's BUG. It's a Walther model 5 (I believe) cal 6,35 or .25auto for those who don't understand the 6,35. I'm missing the barell bushing (thanks dad) but it functions perfect. All proof marks match and the s/n is in the early 15000's. My dad forgot to twist the bushing tight and while shooting it lost the bushing and recoil spring. Still trying to track down a barell bushing and have been for years. Both of these are precious to me and no ammount of money could buy them......(unless I was flat out broke)1 point

What makes a musician or actor so brilliant that we should give a crap about what they have to say? Most do one thing very well and that's what they should get credit for. This nation's obsession with celebrities is disgusting. I could give a #### what Springsteen's politics are just like any other musician, actor, athelete, etc. If him playing a few songs sways voters then that's just further proof we are screwed.1 point

It's by far advisable to separate art from politics -- otherwise one's knowledge and appreciation of those arts will be quite limited indeed. - OS1 point

I had an eye opening situation when I was in Bible study last year. There were about 15 guys meeting that day and one of the guys had to take his gun out of its holster to adjust after he sat down on it funny. A couple of the guys laughed and said it happens everyonce and a while to them. The conversation went on about ways to carry and then someone asked how many were carrying at that moment. We all decieded to place the guns on the table at the same time and wouldnt't you know EVERY guy there was carrying. We had met every week for a year and until that day we had no idea the rest of us were carrying, The funny part is that there were 2 more guns than people so that ment we had 2 guys that had back ups on them. My Sig and 2 revolvers were the only large frame guns the rest were subcompacts and I think that had a lot to do with the fact we never saw anyone carrying.1 point

Use a Lee Classic Cast with the Hornady Lock-N-Load bushings. That is what I use and it works great. Dolomite1 point

I'd save the $600. Before long you'll find see a deal you can't pass up or save additional funds to purchase a more expensive gun.1 point

Lol I would not recommend a .44 in a lightweight. Even if we pretend that lightweight (?nonsteel?) frames are durable enough, the recoil is going to be, on a scale of 1-10, about a 13. One of my online friends has a snubbie 44 in steel that is a beast, I can barely handle one cylinder's worth. Good carry gun maybe, but OW!1 point
