  1. I agree Dan, but it would be very illegal to auction off some weed.

  2. Starting this early to give myself time to go through folks that would like to participate. This has been done on several forums I frequent, but to my knowledge it hasnt been done here. Basically, anyone who ops into secret santa will be pooled into a the group of folks who want to do it and assigned randomly to purchase a gift for another forum-goer. I'll set the monitary cap at lets say... $25. Once a reasonable time has passed I will ask that the thread be closed and randomly assign people to give gifts to their follow TGO members. Be creative! It doesnt have to be a box of ammo, or something along those lines. It could be anything! I will not disclose the username of the folks involved, I'll only provide address's to send the gift to. If you want to include your forum name with your gift, you're more than welcome to. I'll be compiling a list of everyone that wants to do this, and will get with you for your information. All I want in this thread is a simple "I'm in" and I'll get with you once the thread closes. I'll keep this going through Nov. 9th. So lets do this! Edit: Since I'm the one handling it, I'll probably opt-out of sending a gift myself since it wouldnt be so secret for me if I'm the one picking my partner. However if there is an odd-number of folks I'll pick up the odd man out. I hope they like geeky stuff!

  3. ATF has ruled many times that the attachment (temporary or permanent) of a shoulder stock to a handgun makes it a Short-Barreled Rifle, and requires registration and payment of the $200 tax. There are some exceptions to this rule for Curio & Relic firearms like the Mauser Broomhandle, Luger, and early Browning High Powers with stock attachment lugs. Adding his butt-pad makes the Rossi Mare's Leg into a firearm intended to be fired from the shoulder. It's a silly law and a perfect example of why ignorant politicians should not write gun laws. But, it IS the law and this fellow has created a Short-Barreled Rifle.

  5. Had yet another transaction with this vendor today. His prices are hard to beat if possible and he always takes care of his customers. I am glad that I have found his services cause he has saved me alot of money. I tell everyone that is looking to check with him first. Thanks Mr.David

  6. I have pretty much the same setup, but with the black slide and night sights. IMHO, it is probably the best concealed carry setup available today. Crossbreed makes a mini-tuck specifically for that setup. Also, DeSantis makes a Nemesis for PM9 with CT.

  7. A bandsaw really helps in rough shaping your blanks. I coping saw will work, but not as well. Also, check out the Microplanes. They work well, and don't load like files.

  14. HA! That happend to me in Bass Pro. I got a free Saints T-shirt for ordering boxes at work and was wearing it that night. Some girl randomly looked at me and said "What's the score?" I had no idea what she was talking about.

  15. I see your point but that just raises other problems doesn't it? Isn't that fact that Romney isn't "Conservative/libertarian" enough exactly why so many "conservatives" have said they don't like Romney?

  16. What crime ISN'T rooted in some kind of "hate?"
    1 point
  17. Personally, I reject the whole notion of a "hate crime" since, in my opinion, it's 100% politically motivated and, at least for the most part, has been applied only when a caucasian commits a crime against a negro or some other minority. This crime was mostly just a thug being a thug and this teacher being an easy target. But, if "hate crime" laws was administered fairly, it would probably qualify as a hate crime.

  18. If you don't understand your wife then you probably don't spend enough time with her. My wife, Sour Kraut, and I are pretty much tied at the hip. We enjoy each other's company and literally know what the other is going to say before it leaves the lips. I can't imagine being any closer to anyone and that is how it should be. Having to worry and hide stuff from your better half, or worse half depending on how you feel, is not something I can imagine. I do understand my wife because we spend so much time together. I know what makes her happy, sad, frustrated or angry and I would never be able to hide anything from her because she knows me so well. Dolomite

  19. ^^^ This +1. While I do agree with OhShoot and MrDavid, IMO too many folks seem like they almost want the UN to "come git em" most of the scenarios mentioned hear are nothing but laughable if your tin foil head gear isn't cutting off the circulation to your noggin. The most likely gun control that would be successfully executed will be psychological, through "educating" kids little bit by little bit on the "evils and dangers" of guns one day there just won't be the interest for future generations. Once the interest is gone a sole voluntary buy back would suffice just fine for all bit the hold outs. The good news is this is one scenario we all can combat. By mentoring and teaching young people the skill and pleasure of the shooting sports we do more for the cause in the big picture than by burying an AK and a few cases of munitions in the yard.

  20. They need some genius of an engineer to figure out how to do what I will call "removable grips". This radical idea would be to let the grips be screwed onto the frame in a novel way that allowed the user to replace them with various designs, including no finger grooves, or finger grooves that fit different sized hands. People could get all wild and crazy too, doing things like neat colors and patterns, or interesting thumb rests, and other such things. I know, I know, its a bold move away from tried and true designs, and way out there in the future, but maybe someday someone will be able to examine the engineering challenges that would allow this and figure out a way to make it happen.

  21. I have to agree with Runco, the cost to repair has no bearing on the overall value. If I have a good running vehicle that is valued at $1500, I wouldn't trade it for another $1500 vehicle that may it may not be reliable, I'd want my vehicle fixed. With that said I've found more reliability in NADA values as far as Internet evaluations. Now if I were you I would want 3 estimated from different certified repair shops and go from there

  22. I'd have agreed with the idea that the M&P was a new and somewhat unproven platform about 5-7 years ago but this isn't the case any longer. It's proven itself to be very reliable and is fielded by plenty of law enforcement agencies and civilians alike. Further, one only has to consider the teething pains of the Gen 4 Glock to realize that just because a firearm has a pedigree, it doesn't mean that it is going to be more reliable than something new to the field. I'd stick with what works best for you. Sounds like you prefer the M&P.

  23. In my view, the value of a vehicle has nothing to do with the cost of the repair. Insurance compaies have spoiled us in that thinking. If the cost to repair is greater than 50% of the residual value, then they total the vehicle and write us a check for what the vehicle costs. I see that is you position. However, to do this right, either repair the vehicle to the owner's satisfaction, or replace the vehicle with a similiar vehicle to the owner's satisfaction. You were the wrong doer, now just make it right to the owner's satisfaction.

  25. Holiday Inn is a good choice but if you plan to stay into the weekend they will probably be booked solid since VU palys Florida on Saturday. There is an Extended Stay about a half mile west of there on West End Ave if you need longer accomodations.

  27. Before we moved out here, I always stayed at the holiday inn on west end, cause you get a pretty good free breakfast and it's right on campus. 2613 West End Avenue Nashville, TN 37203 (615) 327-4707 If you are paying for it out of pocket, you may want to wait until you get into town and stop at a gas station and pick up one of those hotel coupon books, it'll save you $10-$50 depending on where you stay.

  28. I think it primarily depends on who actually unasses their couch and gets out to vote. It's gonna be close. A lot of folks are dependent on keeping the Left in office. Literally dependent as the .gov is their primary source of income. While Romney is to the Right of Obama he's still way to the Left of my liking. A Social Moderate vs Full Blown Communist...what a choice. That being said, I hope it's Romney. But I wouldn't be surprised if it's Obama. In direct response to your poll: Obama.

  29. Red's got it. Calm down. Getting PO'd will make things bad. I bought a length of 1/8 brass rod from Lowe's JUST for this. Take a little Remoil or even WD40 and giver her a shot, then be SURE the barss rod is in contact with the bullet so it don't go jumping around. Using a wooden mallet or even a regular hammer if you're easy. Peck the rod. The bullet should move about an 1/8-1/4 inch each peck. Few dozen and it'll come out. Now, let me ask before you get started. Are you ABSOLUTELY certain of the alloy you cast with? Was there any chance it had zinc in it? Not that would be a catastrophe but zinc is harder and it will take more force to engrave the rifling upon the bullet and force it through. For now, focus on removing the bullet so you can start over. You're going to want to push the bullet the shortest distance so the rod is down the barrel furthest. This will help stabilize the rod and allow you to get the most efficient lick on it. WHATEVER you do, don't whoop the piss out of it, don't get angry or lose your patience. I once got a wad of patches stuck on an old Mosin bore. Took me all day to get them out. If I had started beating things, it could have been much worse.

  30. Statement had nothing to do with my feelings, was totally dispassionate assertion. if you think that all else being equal, Mormonism is an overall plus for his vote tab nationwide, you're dreaming. I don't need to look beyond the microcosm of my Mom's relatively upscale Baptist church to logically assert the opposite. Not to mention the folks right here on TGO who admit they won't vote for a Mormon. But to answer your personal allegation, my opinion of Mormonism is about the same as of mainstream Christianity itself, merely with an additional degree of more modern wackiness tacked on. And I am voting for Mitt, so you should applaud that I've overcome my "religious bigotry". - OS

JKJKJK, I think you have enough answers, and I will agree, I do not own one, but from what I have read, all is OK.

  35. I just went through the same evaluation recently a few hours of research, many forum opinions and could only find an EOTech to actually view at Gander Mountain. In the final analysis I went with the Aimpoint PRO. 3 year battery life, and just seemed to be a more robust platform. Bought it through Optics Planet for $380.

  36. Someone here has (had?) a .308 16" Saiga that I got to shoot. It was shatteringly loud and blew a 12" long fireball out of the muzzle. It was freakin' awesome! That said, I'd probably get the 20" just for accuracy.
