Some of that could just easily be small talk while the cop is waiting on dispatch to come back with the check on your DL, outstanding warrants, etc. Not sure why folks get their shorts in a knot about a cop asking them where they're heading or where they've been. It's also a way for them to gauge if you're up to some ####, based on body language, so just relax and have a conversation. Unless the guy starts asking you things that infringe upon your Miranda rights, don't be a dick and they likely won't be either.2 points

Off the top of my head I disagree with the SS part of your statement. I pay into that. I have no problem with welfare or food stamps for those that are truly in need through no fault of their own. I am good with disability payments. I am alright with student grants. What pisses me off is people able to work but don't, generations of welfare recipients who know no better than to suck on my tit, people who make bad decisions over and over again but expect me to cover their nut, and paying for taking care of convicted felons. I am sure if I thought harder I could come up with some others. Basically those of us who work are screwed for those who want a free ride. And don't kid yourself, there are plenty of wealthy Americans who work the system for some added cake.2 points

Unless there's some way to get internet reception via a couple of rocks being rubbed together I'd guess you're right.2 points

Too many is more than one. They take the lightest recoiling pistol they can so they can make the qualification standards. They don't qualify with their carry weapon/caliber. Too many, again, don't practice enough to become proficient....they get their HCP and shoot maybe once or twice a year - if ever. My FIL is one. He thinks he will magically rise to the occasion and he will be safe just because he's carrying. You revert to your lowest level of training. .22 absolutely, 100% has it's place in training. But I don't think it should become the default replacement, especially with pistols. For those that take .22's to this class to save money, what does that save you? $20? A WalMart value pack? I would argue that you're losing out on practice time, especially since this is a class. On the flip side, if you already do a lot of shooting, then rock on with that .22....but not in a qualification class.1 point

Mike, I might be changing my vote after all, we have a new dynamic duo in the running.1 point

My wife did it w/ my G35. Too many people shoot w/ .22's for the wrong reasons.1 point

Yeah, don't be a dick. Act like one and expect to be treated like one. What's he big deal anyway? These guys face danger everyday and the job itself is a stressful one. He has no idea who you are until he runs a background. You just might be the only sane person he's seen today. Good grief, chill out.1 point

I have not seen many comparision photos showing the Sig P290 ((9MM) so I thought I would showsome comparision pics of my new Sig P290 9mm and a couple of other small guns I have. These photos are with a Ruger LCR (.22lr but same size as a 357 LCR) and a Tuarus TCP 738 380acp. It is a little bit smaller than the LCR and a little bit bigger than the TCP. The only major differences are the Sig is heavier than both and both are quite a bit wider than the TCP. But keep inmind the TCP is a 380. I just got the Sig yesterday and have not got a chance to shoot it, but I have high hopes. It is about as small as you would want a 9mm (IMHO) but heavy enough to control recoil (reviews indicate). but it is in no way too heavy in my opinion. Feels very good in hand. Also comes with a night sights, a (removable) laser and an extra 8rd mag all for under $500 This one is interesting to me. The TCP is on top of the P2901 point

Well you know what I meant Major, Caster probably said it a little more eloquently.1 point

Well, I imagine a LEO can simply pull you off the road then and there for a headlight out? Meaning, if you said you were on your way to Florida rather than on the way home he might not be so forgiving to let you continue without having it fixed immediately? But also, as DaveTN and others always say, "fishing" is part of a good cop's vehicle stop, since lots of bad guys are caught that way. - OS1 point

Wow, this is the first place I've seen that has the Colt 901 in stock. $2.4k is still a little steep but very reasonable compared to what they're going for on GB.1 point

Probably does not matter to most folks anyway. This one trip will comprise the majority of the shooting they do for the year....or possibly ever.1 point

We had a boxer growing up. I buried him on my 16th b/day. I still hurt and I'm 35 now. Honestly, I hate dogs. They get ahold of you. You have no choice but to love them. They love you, don't gripe or complain. They don't mind if you gain a little weight. They don't mind if you fart. They don't mind if no one else in this godforsaken world loves you or not. They love you and with the exception of Jesus Christ, there's not another organism to ever exist on this planet that understand unconditional love anymore than they do. They give you years of faithful service and companionship......then they leave you. Biggest religious argument I ever had with my family was over the dog. I grew up in a strict religious household and their contention was that animals didn't go to heaven because they had no soul. If my dog isn't there, I don't wanna go either. It wouldn't be heaven if he wasn't there. I miss the old butt licker. I think he might have been a marine in a past life. He sure lived and died by the creed Semper Fidelis.1 point

http://news.yahoo.com/google-rejects-white-house-request-pull-mohammad-film-015300781--sector.html Way to go Google. I can't believe that Obama even did this. Instead of giving the Islamic world the finger for attacking one of our most basic rights, he tries to pander to them... the effing ENEMY!1 point

to me range time is valuable, so if your gonna carry it why not shoot it as much as possible this includes the class.1 point

Reagan had already developed a record of conservative action to back up his conversion prior to running for president. Romney didn't start trying to change his talk until he started looking at a run for the White House. If Romney had a record to back up his talk, I wouldn't be hammering on this point.1 point

Great knife for the money! The three I have came scary sharp! I have the Classic #1, 511 and a 780 triflex (out of production). They are a scandi grind, and they make great slicers and carvers and are easy to keep sharp. I suggest checking some Youtube videos on how to sharpen a scandi grind. It's really easy. They aren't the thickest blade in the world, but people do baton with them. The spine is usually unfinished, so if you want to use it with a fire steel, you will have to take a file and square it up some. The sheaths are crap, that's C-R-A-P! I recommend you make one or purchase one online. There are several kydex makers on EBAY and the Companion is a very common Mora. So you should be able to pick one up at a reasonable price. It will be more than the knife costs though. They make a great hiker's knife, due to there light weight. The best place on the web to get Mora's is at www.ragweedforge.com. Ragnar runs it and he is a super person to deal with. He charges $6 for shipping on up to 6 knives and mostly deals with Scandinavian style knives like Helle, Mora and EKA.1 point

It is an unfortunate side effect of a politically correct society. We are not allowed to talk about shooting actual enemy so we use a made up joke of an enemy to explain tatics or preparation things. It just does not work to say "when the _____ invade and we kill em all, I prefer an uzi to the AK, what do you think?1 point
