  1. Okay, I'm going to strap a bunch of road flares to m chest and walk into a bank. Then I'll cry that my "rights" we're violated when I get detained. If someone could please find me a law which states that I can't do that I would appreciate it, because as far as I can tell it is my "right" to do so. Give me a damn break! The cops did a good job. I don't care if what he did was legal or not. He was trying to incite panic. It might be classified as a pistol, but it is a damn AK. I can't think of a good reason why someone would be carrying that around unless they were at a range or in a combat zone. And saying that my logic is the same argument against handgun carry is just silly. There are many good reasons I can assume someone is carrying a pistol. I can't think of a good reason why someone would be carrying around an AK. That would make me think they were up to no good. Would you honestly not raise an eyebrow if someone came into a restaurant with an AK slung to their chest?? Would you look at the barrel length and say "oh, it's only 10 inches so all is well"??? I would immediately assume he is there to shoot up the place, because I can think of no practical reason why someone would do that. Mind you, I am not scared of folks carting firearms. I have been frequently surrounded by third world former al Qaeda infidel haters who were armed with a lot more than a Draco. The point here is context.

  2. And once again I'll pose this question, is it illegal to strap road flares to my chest and walk around? Is it illegal to walk down the street with a broadsword? Is it illegal to walk down the street in a full nude colored body suit? Is it illegal to walk through a park and approach kids with offers of free candy? I would say that all the things above are legal, but will attract attention of law enforcement and potentially get you detained. The law is not the problem. The police are not the problem. The problem is one useless turd making an issue where no issue exists.

  4. Don't get me wrong, she's a beauty but any gun too pretty to shoot is a gun not worth owning. Take her out and shoot the tar out of it! Clean, oil and put it in a nice padded case. I hate guns you can't shoot. They're worthless to me. Very nice!!!

  5. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/04/world/africa/africas-elephants-are-being-slaughtered-in-poaching-frenzy.html?_r=1 I realize there are no shortage of depressing stories out there competing for our attention, but this one really gets to me. I hope something can be done to save these creatures. I hope that the ignorant, rich Chinese who buy ivory products wake up and quit demanding their spoils of murder. I hope that the heartless mother ####ers in Africa who commit these atrocities get what's coming to them (and I've learned that everyone, sooner or later, has to answer for what they do in this world). Stewardship and conservation are things at which people generally suck. We'd rather consume, exploit, and move on. Humans can be absolutely despicable. I'm going to look into a wildlife organization to which I can make a donation. What else can I do? I know what I'd really like to do: send some AK mags and a case of 7.62 to the guys who work in the parks defending these animals. I do like the park rangers' policy on dealing with poachers: “We don’t negotiate, we don’t give any warning, we shoot first.â€

  7. You pay property tax whether you have kids in school or drive or call the fire department, or .... I'd say the constitutionality is more in the realm of tax levy than firearms in this case. However, I do believe the TICS is likely unconstitutional since it's not called a tax -- and clearly the unlawful carry/HCP statutes are since they have nothing to do with "regulating crime", except in the sense that TN makes criminals out of otherwise law abiding citizens for packing without having a permit. - OS

  9. Well, you have HCP, so whatever it is should get worked out. Question I always ask, did you use your SSN? That seems to cut through the chaff most of the time. - OS

  10. I don't know why you like to over-complicate this every time I mention it. I talk to them nearly daily and have done a fair share of TICS and appeals over the last 2 years. I have a fairly good idea how it "actually" works on a practical level. All that above is encompassed in the FBI's system that I referenced and usually when there is a denial or delay it is because they verify identity through DL and names consistency. Sometimes those don't match up or there is a discrepancy and thus the waiting for another agency to clarify or verify status. Birth state is checked through the FBI's system to clarify name issues and other problems that arise. Some states don't respond as quickly as other's according to TBI/TICS agents I've actually talked to .

  11. The law does need to be clarified. That being said anytime I see someone in camo walking through a park with an AK strapped to his chest, even I as a fervent advocate of the 2nd Amendment, am going to notice and be concerned. The Feds classify this as a pistol, fine it's a pistol. If it were a rifle, a full size AK, tell me the difference would be. I see none. If you are in a public park where hunting and shooting are illegal, what are you doing there with an AK? Personal protection? OK, the Police stopped him. While they were trying to determine whether the pistol was illegal (Now, how they were doing that is a mystery to me. How could they, by looking tell whether it was a full auto or a semi-auto?) he's demanding to have a supervisor come so he'd be detained longer. I'm curious, Jonnin, how you think the Plaintiff here did anything for "rights," because I just don't see it.

  12. Why change anything? Out of the entire population of metro nashville, there was one idiot that needed special handling. I think the cops did a fine job. He needed to be kicked in the nuts, but I can live with that omission.

  15. The TSA has yet to catch a single terrorist. Prior to 1968 it was legal to carry your firearms on a plane. Prior to 1968, there was not one single successful hijacking of a US airliner. and yes, there were attempts. Hijacking was a pretty popular way of robbery in the rest of the world at the time. In 1968, Congress decided to make it illegal to have firearms on commercial airliners. Pure coincidence, of course.

  16. To me, saying that a gun is too nice to shoot is like saying a steak is too delicious to eat or a girl is too sexy to fool around with. That sure is a nice, pretty gun, though - I certainly wouldn't want to drop or scratch it.

  20. Police need to be sent out every time a citizen sees something they don’t think is right. Carrying an ax down the street is legal, but if someone thinks you look suspicious doing it they will call the cops and the cops will go check it out. Stop for minute and imagine the kind of backlash there would be if a citizen called in a man with a gun and the dispatcher didn’t send someone and he opened fire on a bunch of people. It’s their job; it’s what they do. And if they handle it like this cop did there will be no problems.

  21. I fish the Greenway off of Medical Center Parkway. Walk down to the dam and fish below it. I use Zoom speed craws and spinners. I cast right at the dam just below were the water comes around it. I usually let the current take it then work the lure back to you. I have caught several really nice bass there and crappie.
