I don't recall it being an issue at all until Dubya started pressing the matter. Rather conveniently I might add when his war in Iraq was not going all that well. Now it's the Republican party mantra. If I'm wrong please let me know as I really not do remember the "gay marriage" thing being so divisive on the national level before that.2 points

Blah blah blah... How does the pointing out of someone's inability to grasp the natural evolution of traditions and societal norms suddenly put me in a category if endorsing Obama? Because I used the word "change"? Is that an off limits word worthy of eliciting a response regarding a presidential campaign from four years ago? God help me if I ever use the word "forward" in a sentence. Geez.2 points

It's called change. It has been going on since the beginning of time and will go on long after you and I are dust.2 points

Which is funny when you consider there are atheists and folks who worship the devil and idolize peacocks who call their unions with their spouses "marriage" and no one seems to care or call for legislation against it. Where is all the outrage there? There are non-semetic religions all over the world (and in our country) that call their relationships marriage and there isn't any outrage. Why is there suddenly outrage over two gays calling it "marriage"? I'm not some rabid supporter of gay marriage, I just don't have any logical reason to oppose it. I don't see any logical reason (legally, not religiously) why anyone else would either.2 points

After a lot of internet searching and reading here, I figured it was time to take the plunge I thought my regular belt was doing an ok job of herting around my M&P all day but at the end of the day it was sagging pretty badly and starting to show signs of premature wear. We went to walk around the Nashville flea market a couple of weekends ago and I came across a leather booth. I went in and the guy was really nice as I looked over his offerings not really finding what I was looking for. I asked if he had any betls that were thicker. He stepped over to the corner and said "I have these, but they are more for the people that carry a gun." I just laughed and said "That's what I am looking for." He did not have my size on account of I am a fat ass, but showed me some of the belts and we taked about what I wanted. He gave me his card and said to send him an e-mail. A few days, and a paypal transaction later and I have a very nice hand made gun belt. Fits like a glove and what a difference when it comes to carrying a pistol. The weight just disappears, the gun feels solid on my side and has no sag at all. In all I am happy with it so far. I am looking forward to the weekend when I can let the gun ride the whole day and see how it does.1 point

I walked into my favorite gunshop this morning and spied two pre-owned LC9 s in the used pistol case. One was your generic LC9 with 3 mags, the other had a laser and two mags and the manager said to me, "pull the trigger on the one with the laser and you will recognise it." For the fun of it, I have put in two Galloway Precision LC9 triggers and the one with the laser was one of them. The gal who had traded it on for a S&W BG .380 wanted something smaller and easier to control. Holy S.......! Anyway. I had had a LC9 when they first came out and thought, along with some experienced friends, it had the worst trigger ever - so I traded it . A few months later along comes Galloway Precision with their trigger bar mods. I put in two for a couple of gals who come into my friend's gunshop. I love them, but don't have the jack to actually buy a new LC9 and install the Galloway trigger. Today was my lucky day. One of my own Galloway trigger installed LC9s came into the shop on a trade. I got to pick it up for a good price due to my volunteer work. I can't wait till my wife gets home tonight. This is going to be her favorite gun and it has a factory laser too!1 point

Some of us are. We just won't vote for someone whom we view as essentially more of the same according to their record. Remember, Romney actually signed an Assault Weapons Ban into law in MA, or is it convenient to forget that little fact? Also, let's take a look at the facts of the TN electorate. Other than Shelby,Davidson and maybe Knox counties, the rest of the state is going as red as it gets. Therefore, my voting my conscience by casting my vote for Gary Johnson (who has the record as in New Mexico you wish Romney had in MA) changes nothing in the short term. What it does do is possibly help the Libertarian Party get a little bit closer to being a viable 3rd party.1 point

Why? The piece of paper that says Marriage License on it is already issued by the state, not a religious entity. Marriage, in the eyes of the state, already has no religious significance. - OS1 point

No one will need to force a pastor to perform a gay union. There will be Christian churchs and other pastors that will happily do it. You are gonna need a law preventing it from being called marriage.1 point

No preacher gets charged with a hate crime now if he refuses to marry a black/white couple. Or a rabbi refuses a Jewish/atheist couple. Etc. Although I don't know exactly what law it is, but obviously states MUST marry folks who qualify by paying the license fee, getting blood test or whatever if that's still required anywhere. The same folks would simply have to marry same sex couples. The gummit is NOT gonna take on any denomination to force it to marry anyone, just as it is now. Hell, the Obamacare contraception/abortion stink may well lose the Catholic vote for BHO. This flap has not been lost on pols, and it's a tempest in a teapot compared to same sex "marriage". - OS1 point

No, I hate change just as much as the next guy. I wish I could turn on the radio and not hate everything I hear or go to the store without seeing every chick dressed like she's working the corner, or actually hear folks say "please" and "thank you". Yes, I generally hate change because I'm not into it and it makes me feel old. What I "like" is freedom... for all, even if it is inconvenient for me. I want freedom for you as well as freedom from you. Everyone is entitled to no more or less.1 point

I read his page. He is a nutjob. I also live in a world where suggesting taking up arms against the government doesn't automatically make you some kind of patriot hero to be compared to our forefathers. Timothy Macveigh also spoke about taking up arms against the government. He was not a patriot and neither is this guy. He is just nuts.1 point

I am not sure what he was getting at, but as presented, it sounds like because gay marriage cannot produce kids, it is invalid? Which would make mine equally invalid? If reproduction is the purpose of marriage, mine failed. If it is not the purpose, I do not, for real, understand his point with that comment.1 point

With the divorce rate of first marriages hovering around 40%-50%, second marriages hovering around 60%, and third marriages hovering around 70%, it appears the straight folks have already done more than their fair share of watering down the religious meaning of marriage.1 point
-
I fully agree with you that govt needs to get out of it. I have no desire to water down the meaning, my point was the same as yours: by common usage (indeed, caused by the govt) the term is already watered down. Most of the people that are fussing over using the term "married" with homosexuals will accept *any* use of the term with *any sort* of heteros. That is inconsistent and illogical (If the same folks will start up a campaign to ban the term married from any marriage that is not done in their particular brand of church, at least it would be consistent and logical). Or surrender that the term is forever watered down in the secular world and let the point go. All that matters is what the term means to the particular couple anyway... for some it means a lifelong commitment before the almighty, for others it is a living arrangement for a few years.1 point

That's what I get out of this discussion. The fighting is about whether or no you can call it "marriage". Surely if civil unions are recognized for all, and church weddings count just like always, there certainly will be churches who would allow gays to marry. It is about calling it getting married.1 point

I think we can all Agree, Shot Placement.1 point

Hell it would be nice to even get a 4 percent tax discount for a weekend.1 point

One thing is for sure, many religious folks and them homosexuals have at least one thing in common; they love cramming stuff down someone's throat.1 point

Okay, so if someone says they are going to kill you then the police should wait until the person does it before intervening? He wasn't arrested, by the way. He was committed for being a loon.1 point

To be fair, the intruder died from embarrassment, not the wound.1 point

I don't understand either side of it. I don't give two wags of a rats ars if you wanna rub another man's rhubarb, leave me alone about it. What ever happened to the society that left sexual matters in the bedroom where they belong? Why are we as a country, constantly airing dirty laundry in the front yard for all the neighborhood to see? This morally decayed country is disgusting, perverse and sickening. Not for its want of preference acceptance, but for talking about it, putting it on EVERY DAMN TV SHOW ON THE TV and not keeping quietly tucked away as things of this matter are supposed to be? You know, the older I get, the I believe homosexuality really wasn't a deciding factor in Gods choice to leave a blanket of ash on the ground where two cities once stood. I think it was their wantonly open and brazen defiance to the rule of privacy with intimacy. On top of all the other reasons he had, thieves, murderers and the like. Well we as a country have those too. Thieves In the white house stealing from me to make their socialism security continue, murders killing unborn babies. I'm just sick of it all. Ignoring a problem will not make it go away but there are just some things that should not be discussed openly and with such frequency. Again, I don't care if you're queer, that great. STOP TELLING ME ABOUT IT because I don't give a ssss. I would ask "God have mercy on this country" but we don't deserve it.1 point
