  1. What makes a rifle a Sniper rifle? The guy {or gal} behind the trigger. It could be a worn out Stevens Crack shot .22 loaded with shorts and be a sniper rifle in the hands of the right mind.

  2. I have zero doubt they've been watching him for a while. It is, in fact, what we pay law enforcement to do. An example would be the guy who just went nuts and shot up all those Sikhs. Was the government over stepping their bounds by watching him? Obviously they were on to something considering he murdered several people in an unprovoked attack. Unstable people like this are watched for good damn reason. I would bet my paycheck that they have been monitoring him for a long time. His being institutionalized is related to the fact he made clear that he was about to do something violent. Some of you act like these LEOs are boogeymen out to stomp rights. There is the Bill of Rights, but there are also countless laws that allow for batsh** crazy people to be thrown in an institution if they are deemed to be a danger to themselves or others. I'm familiar enough with some of those laws as my own sister had to be thrown in one for a week a long time ago. I've even had one of my Soldiers put in a padded room for over a week... all he did was say a few things as well. Did we violate his rights? Hell no. He was about to kill himself or someone else. Get over it. As long as you're not acting like a loon the Men in Black aren't coming for you. This isn't about the 1st Amendment, this is about a lunatic.

  3. So who is a victim of the government? Are you talking about him or you? Yes, people are arrested every day for mere words; it’s called assault. When you threaten people with violence, either expressed or implied, it is wrong. The fact that charges were dropped or you don’t think a person could be convicted in court doesn’t make it right.

  4. The old adage is thoughts become words, words become deeds. Deeds in part define you. It's not magic to manifest from nothing, there has to be a basis, which begins in the thought process. The thought process illuminates the tenor of character being defined by thought. Which is what you articulate, which then becomes a deed, which then in part defines you. The development of racism is not wrought overnight but takes repeated reinforcement typically learned early. Redefining yourself from that baseline is a tantamount struggle. Thus I say again good luck. Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2

  5. Bigk, some people have a victim complex that has to be fed. Anyone can verbally affirm their reformation, child abusers & serial killers do it all the time. Society can only judge by actions perceived. And trust or respect shouldn't be expected as it may never be given. I've never met any truly reformed racists only those that continually surpress it so good luck with that. Frankly speaking all this waxing & waning over your transgressions, plight, persecution & subsequent reemergence from the ashes of despair like a phoenix aloft on the winds of enlightenment is a tad overwrought of really needing some significant validation. Perhaps you should get a pet & continue the therapy. This isn't intended to be malicious in any way. I'm glad you feel better about yourself or whatever. And welcome back eh. Can we talk about grain loads and concealed vs open, here on the gun forum? Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2

  7. 5. You run the sugar for your morning coffee through a powder measure. 4. When cooking Italian, you always ask the wife what the OAL of the rigatoni noodles should be. 3. You complain to the casino when you pull the handle of a slot machine and coins come out instead of cartridges. 2. When your date says she wants to powder her nose, you ask if it's extruded, ball or flake. And the Number One annoying habit of reloaders: You ask the cops if you can have the brass at a homicide scene.

  10. In the 80’s we couldn’t do anything for people with mental problems. Our States Attorney would not touch it even when a family member called in that someone was going to commit suicide. We would try to talk the mentally ill into committing themselves and it sometimes worked with the threat of criminal charges if they didn’t. But if we couldn’t talk them in and they had committed no crime; our hands were tied. We would stand by until other family members could get there to help, or some had attorneys that could get a Judge to sign commitment papers. It resulted in a lot of people hurt and killed. I was detailed to a call of a mental case threating people and acting crazy downtown. I ask if there was a complainant and was told “Not that wants to be seenâ€. I get there and talk to this guy and he obviously had mental problems and is wound tight as a drum. If I leave him there he is going to hurt someone. He tells me that was committed a long time ago to our regional mental institution and that they “Kicked him out†He told me he wanted to go back because he was afraid he was going to hurt someone. I had our dispatcher’s call the nut house and they told the dispatchers his state funding had run out and they had to put him out. We told them he wanted to come back because he was afraid he was going to hurt someone. They said they can’t take him back unless he hurts someone, is arrested, or a Judge signs commitment papers. Going to a Judge had to go through the SA Office, so that wasn’t going to work. I wasn’t about to tell him I couldn’t do anything unless he hurt someone, so I told him I couldn’t do anything unless he committed a crime. He said “What kind of crime?†I told him “Any crimeâ€. He walked over and picked up a concrete block and walked towards my squad. I could see where this was going and just let it happen. Yep, he threw that block at the windshield and turned around and said “Will that do it?†As we started to bring him in to book one of our Command Officers told us to get booking info from him and take him straight to the nut house. The guy knew he was a danger, I knew he was a danger, but his so called “Rights†kept him from getting help. He was convicted of a felony, so if he ever did get straight, he had that to deal with. Things have changed since then; a person that is a threat to society or is threatening to kill themselves can now be committed for observation without having to commit a criminal act. Posting violent threats on the internet is going to land you in jail or the nuthouse; free speech has nothing to do with it. As citizens when someone threatens us with a gun we don’t have to wait to see if it’s real, if it’s loaded, or if the perp is going to shoot; we have the right to protect ourselves. Law Enforcement has the duty to protect the people from harm even if they don’t know they are being threatened; it sounds like that is what happened here. We may never hear what really happened. The Secret Service isn’t real big on making public statements unless directed to do so by the highest powers. 5-1-5-0 somebody call the PoPo.

  11. GM posted record profits (and dividends to it's shareholders) before the price of gas shot through the roof. Not the UAW's fault that GM put all of it's eggs in one basket and distributed quarterly profits to shareholders when it should have been focusing on it's whole lineup. Did the shareholder's give back their dividends or loan GM money? NOPE Did the UAW agree to work for substantially less money and benefits? YES For the record I own 2 vehicles. A 2000 Ford Excursion 4WD XLT, with more Made In Mexico cast metal parts and wiring harnesses than I thought before I started repairing it. And a 1982 Chevy S-10 with 100% Made In America by Americans using 100% American materials. It's a project for my 13 year old son and I. He ccouldn't understand how a S&W knife could be made in China, and is now obsessed with only buying American products. An 1982 S-10 was the best I could find with my 3 figure budget. Before bashing unions we should all Google things like 8 hour workday and 40 hour workweek. See where they originated from. Union = Blue Collar Middle Class. To quote Ronald Reagan from 1980 "When free unions and collective bargaining are forbidden, freedom is lost." Bet most people are unaware that President Reagan was President of his union before President of the United States of America.....

  13. The UAW took major wage and benefit reductions in order for GM to survive. "Union" workers are the middle class. GOOGLE 8 hour workday or 40 hour workweek and see where these taken-for-granted standards originated. Before the "Bailout" GM posted record profits for years selling SUV's, of course these profits resulted in dividends for their shareholders. Do the shareholders give GM money when they need it? NOPE. Do the middleclass bluecollar UAW accept lower wages and benefits? YES Me, I drive a 2000 Ford Excursion, "Made In Mexico" is what you'll see if you crawl under it in several locations. Also have a 1982 Chevy S-10 that I'm working on for my 13 year old son. 100% Made In America by Americans using American materials. UNION = Middle Class Blue Collar Jobs Or believe what your leaders tell you.......

  18. I am not a ND hater or fan, but I will say this, they are NOT relevant in college football. They may be relevant to their own fans, and they may have a lot of fans, but that does not make them relevant to college football. Internet discussion about the relevance of a team does not make them relevant. What does is their impact on the national football scene. When people talk about potential National Champs or Conference Champs ND is never discussed. ND is a has been that is living off it's past and it's ties to the Catholic Church. My 15 old son and his friends have no opinion on ND and never discuss them. That is a good measure of relevancy IMHO. If you ask them who has more National Championships, ND, Army, or Harvard, I am not sure they could answer it. They are all three kinda grouped together as a old timey black and white TV power

  20. Our society seems to have become one where folks have no problem with someone being arrested if they "think" he might have been a danger to others. To hell with proof and/or actual commission of a crime. And while they're at it, to hell with the Constitution too.

  21. Well, the point I was making is that every election for local/state/federal office is an opportunity for revolution. If the voters don't take that opportunity to remove their leaders then they deserve what they get and now have to wait a few years for the next opportunity. The people speak for who leads us. An armed movement to upset that would be more un-American than the deeds such a leader would be accused of. Certainly I would feel a moral obligation to undermine such a movement because it violates the Constitution and goes against the people's legitimate vote. So, the point is, if folks want a revolution you get to legally have one every time you vote. If you're worried about who people are going to elect then do your part to educate others on the facts. If your candidate loses, tough titties. That's the way it has to be.

  22. I stopped being a "Republican" after about a year of "W" I now consider myself a "Goldwater Conservative" Independent. After being a Republican for almost half a century, I take no delight in how the GOP is self-destructing. The Dems don't really even have to campaign. Every time a Republican opens his mouth on TV they re-elect Obama! The GOP needs a purge and all new people, real Conservatives not Neo-Cons!

  29. So if someone says they intend to do something violent to you or your family you would expect law enforcement to wait until that act is done? I think they have plenty here to indicate that he was going to do something violent. This is just a snippet of what he posted and doesn't include postings over the history of the account. You also assume that there was nothing else to indicate that he was planning to do something.

  31. Yeah; just like Government Motors; the government bailed out Ford's union contracts and the government owns tens of thousands of shares of Ford stock and the government appointed Ford's CEO and the government allowed Ford to go through 'bankruptcy" without any of the consequences and that Ford can't make a real profit without the government and General Electric buying its product and that Ford has paid back its tiny loan with other money given to it by the government and... Oh wait.... None of that happened.

  32. I agree with RobertNashvile. There are plenty of sites with free templates and info on the web and the office supply stores even sell kits with nice paper, envelopes, and software to help write one up. The trick is to keep them concise, professional looking, and to write a good cover letter tailored for each employer.
