  1. I have an LCP. I pocket carry it, and dont worry about it. The long trigger pull IS the safety. You do need to carry it in a pocket holster that covers the trigger. Carrying it unchambered is not something I would do. It's not heavy enough to hurt someone when you throw it at them.

  2. The following (armed) organizations fall under the DHS: Customs and Border Protection, ICE, Secret Service, Coast Guard, TSA, Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and the US Coast Guard. I'm sure there's more, but this is a lot. The cumulative number of weapons on their property books probably rivals that of the Marine Corps. They have lots of guns and bullets. They always have. They just exist under the same umbrella now, so clearly the only explanation is they intend to kill or enslave us all. Of course, the logic of the article is as follows: SSA buys 174,000 rounds and therefore they intend to kill 174,000 American Citizens. It says it right there in the article. I would have copied and pasted it, but the site is more diseased than a Thai prostitute so I didn't. By the same logic of the article we have 5,000 nuke warheads in our arsenal. Why else would we have them other than to Nuke 5,000 cities? Therefore, the US government intends on nuking 5,000 cities in the near future. There. Simple logic. Feel free to hide out in your bunkers. I'll be getting some ice cream over at 31 Flavors with all the other sheep that apparently have no idea that every fart the US Gov makes is a sinister attempt to put us in concentration camps.

  3. I could not resist the temptation to own a small 45 so I picked up an XDs and loaded it in my N82 holster ,,,Still breaking it in I put 100 rounds though it so far and it packs a WALLOP! Make no mistake about it,this thing packs a punch High viz sights ,2 5+1 mags and the usual oversize XD case I dont know why but I feel more confident with a 45 over my 9MM

  5. Fair enough, but if you are willing to forgive Romney on this one are you going to give Obama a pass on his anti-gun past? If not then.....

  6. Yeah, but it isn't the first time and won't be the last. Think about how many nuke subs we have in Russia and China's AO. It's a game that we all play like peacocks in the yard.

  7. In an attempt to find the latest data on nuclear winter, I have solved the global warming problem. If it gets to hot, just bust enough nukes to cool it back down. I'm gonna get the Nobel prize for this one. We even have a few good places to bust 'em.

  8. Give me a break Mike. Most of the people on this board are only voting for Romney so he can beat Obama. What do you actually LIKE about him other than the big R next to his name? I am positive that if he was running as a democrat everyone would be saying to vote for the conservative or the world will end, much like we are doing now. I have nothing against Bain capital and I certainly don't care how much money he has made.

  15. Sks seems to vary around $250-$500 depending on country of orgin. Have both Mosins and an Sks and like shooting both. Ammo is cheap like TMF said and both are rugged as heck. If you haven't got a rifle yet I'd still recommend a 22 as the best way to get familiar with them. I've got probably around 15 or so firearms, more when you count the ones that family members have left with me to use, around 20 or so in the house, out of everything the .22s get the most range time bar none. Ammo doesn't get any cheaper and honestly I have just as much fun with them as anything else. Unless you have a specific goal in mind like hunting, long range target shooting, etc. I'd go 22 first. On the other hand shotguns are alot of fun and very versatile, I haven't shot one in a while and keep meaning to pick one up but you can have all kinds of fun with one. Between slugs, buckshot and bird shot you can do pretty much anything with a good shotgun out to about 150-200 yards or so.

  16. All these federal agencies now know they are being watched and that people aren't in the mood for any bulls###. There are enough patriots in these agencies that have multiple lines of communications to blow the whistle if or when the funny business starts.

  17. mosin is quite capable of hunting. It is TOO powerful for small game, but if you just want to vaporize varmints, that is ok. Of course you can target shoot/ plink with it. It is high recoil with full power ammo and a bit brutal to do extended amounts of shooting without extra padding or something. There are other cheap, or nearly as cheap, military surplus guns out there, mosin is just the latest to be imported in bulk and there is still plenty of surplus ammo for it as well. The biggest drawback to milsurp guns is they can be aggravating to mount a scope properly. And, if you do want to scope one, be sure to not buy a collector's gun and ruin it.
    1 point
  18. I would say no. A Mosin is cheap to get and so is the ammo. The only other thing I would suggest would be an SKS. It costs about twice as much but the ammo is cheap in bulk and I find it more fun to shoot that my Mosin. I'm assuming that you can still pick up an SKS for around $200, although I haven't priced them in a long time. I have one and don't intend to get another.

  20. There's several interesting studies out regarding the flawed, inaccurate nature of measuring temps around the country & world & how the data is specifically weeded to support the idea of global warming by agencies who receive the funding to track global warming & temps thereby threatening their own existence & funding if they don't provide the 'right' set of data to support the doctrine. 22. Who Does The Government Intend To Shoot? By Major General Jerry Curry, USA (Ret.) 9:40 AM 08/17/2012 The Social Security Administration (SSA) confirms that it is purchasing 174 thousand rounds of hollow point bullets to be delivered to 41 locations in major cities across the U.S. No one has yet said what the purpose of these purchases is, though we are led to believe that they will be used only in an emergency to counteract and control civil unrest. Those against whom the hollow point bullets are to be used — those causing the civil unrest — must be American citizens; since the SSA has never been used overseas to help foreign countries maintain control of their citizens. What would be the target of these 174, 000 rounds of hollow point bullets? It can’t simply be to control demonstrators or rioters. Hollow point bullets are so lethal that the Geneva Convention does not allow their use on the battle field in time of war. Hollow point bullets don’t just stop or hurt people, they penetrate the body, spread out, fragment and cause maximum damage to the body’s organs. Death often follows. Potentially each hollow nose bullet represents a dead American. If so, why would the U.S. government want the SSA to kill 174,000 of our citizens, even during a time of civil unrest? Or is the purpose to kill 174,000 of the nation’s military and replace them with Department of Homeland Security (DHS) special security forces, forces loyal to the Administration, not to the Constitution? All my life I’ve handled firearms. When a young boy growing up on my father’s farm in Pennsylvania Dad’s first rule of firearms training was, “Never point a gun at someone, in fun or otherwise, unless you intend to shoot them. If you shoot someone, shoot to kill.†I’ve never forgotten his admonition. It stayed with me through my Boy Scout training, when I enlisted in the army as a Private to fight in the Korea War, during my days as a Ranger and Paratrooper and throughout my thirty-four year military career. If this were only a one time order of ammunition, it could easily be dismissed. But there is a pattern here. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has ordered 46,000 rounds of hollow point ammunition. Notice that all of these purchases are for the lethal hollow nose bullets. These bullets are not being purchased and stored for squirrel or coyote hunting. This is serious ammunition manufactured to be used for serious purposes. In the war in Iraq, our military forces expended approximately 70 million rounds per year. In March DHS ordered 750 million rounds of hollow point ammunition. It then turned around and ordered an additional 750 million rounds of miscellaneous bullets including some that are capable of penetrating walls. This is enough ammunition to empty five rounds into the body of every living American citizen. Is this something we and the Congress should be concerned about? What’s the plan that requires so many dead Americans, even during times of civil unrest? Has Congress and the Administration vetted the plan in public. I fear that Congress won’t take these ammunition purchases seriously until they are all led from Capitol Hill in handcuffs. Why buy all this ammunition unless you plan to use it. Unknown to Congress, Does DHS plan to declare war on some country? Shouldn’t Congress hold hearings on why the Administration is stockpiling this ammunition all across the nation? How will it be used; what are the Administration’s plans? Obama is a deadly serious, persistent man. Once he focuses on an object, he pursues it to the end. What is his focus here? All of these rounds of ammunition can only be used to kill American citizens, though there is enough ammunition being ordered to kill, in addition to every American citizen, also every Iranian, Syrian or Mexican. There is simply too much of it. And this much ammunition can’t be just for training, there aren’t that many weapons and “shooters†in the U.S. to fire it. Perhaps it is to be used to arm illegal immigrants? We have enough military forces to maintain law and order in the U.S. even during times of civil unrest. We have local police, backed up by each state’s National Guard, backed up by the Department of Defense. So in addition to all these forces why does DHS need its own private army? Why do the SSA, NOAA and other government agencies need to create their own civilian security forces armed with hollow nose bullets? Were I the JCS, and if I wasn’t already fully briefed on this matter, I’d stop the purchase of hollow point bullets, ask the secretary of Defense why all this ammunition is being purchased and spread around the country? If I got answers like the ones Congress got during the investigation of Operation Fast and Furious – I’d start tracking all ammunition deliveries nationwide to find out what organizations and units are using them, for what purpose and, if it is not constitutional, prepare to counteract whatever it is that they are doing. This is a deadly serious business. I hope I’m wrong, but something smells rotten. And If the Congress isn’t going to do its duty and investigate this matter fully, the military will have to protect the Constitution, the nation, and our citizens. Jerry Curry is a decorated combat veteran, Army Aviator, Paratrooper, and Ranger, who for nearly forty years has served his country both in the military and as a Presidential political appointee. 27. I buy some hogs, and see if the smell can quelch the noise. Its hard to detail cars and shoot autos, with a couple of wallering stinking hogs close by. This actually happened in my family. Have a family member who had a large piece of property in East Tennessee. A subdivison was built next to his property. A well to do New Jersey family moved in ($300K+ type house). Not soon after, they started complaining about everything on his property. Fence row had honey suckels and brush growing up, they wanted it cleared. He only bush hogged once a year, they wanted it kepted like a manicured lawn, I use to ride motorcycle on his property (Yamaha YZ 125), they complained about that, and so on and so on. The complaints were constant and many. Finally, my family member wasn't much of a hog farmer, but was when he was younger, and did acquire some hogs. On this 100 acre property he placed the pen right next to those people's house on his property, the actual pen shared the same fence row that seperated his property from their property. The complainers filed a suit and asked the city to get involved. They actually lived in the city limits, whereas his property was in the county. Nothing could be done, no county ordiance against a 100 acre property for farming purposes, the city had no say so either. No law, no statue, about farming. Eventually the complaints stopped about everything, and eventually (2-3 years) later he removed the hoggs. Thats been some 20+ years ago, I do not believe they have complained about anything since, yes they still live there. The fence row is like it always has been, full of growed up honeysuckels and brush, and the field gets bush hogged 1x a year. What a journey.

  29. tell her the truth --- that school teachers are human and do not know everything. Then explain that global warming is very new and that the exact causes and effects are not known, and that her teacher has to give it her best guess but that you and many others think differently about it. In the end, she has to regurgitate whatever nonsense to pass. That is just how school, at every level from cradle to PHD and beyond, is.

  34. The only "complaint" I have with my HP after thousands of rounds is the 10 round capacity. I got a chance to shoot DS's 9mm AR - sweet platform, if I was after another 9mm carbine, something like that would be on my short list. If you don't need hi-cap, what about a .38/.357 lever gun? I did some investigating since I've got revolvers in that caliber. Ultimately I passed since I have a "low cap" pcc already.

  38. I've shot Glocks. I've held even more Glocks than I have shot. I don't like them. Not because of the looks but, as others have said, simply because I don't like the way they feel. Further, I am no fan of striker fired pistols. I'm sure they are just as good, safe, etc. as anything else when handled properly - they just aren't what I prefer. So, this isn't a case of, "If you'd just try one, you'd see..." I've test-driven them, kicked the tires, etc. Didn't like the Kool-aid, spat it out and poured the rest down the drain. I won't say that I wouldn't own a Glock - I'd happily accept one as a gift - but I will never buy one. If that makes me somebody's pet peeve or whatever then oh, well. Of course, just to further kick the hornet's nest, I'm not all that enamored of 1911s, either.
