Maybe you guys are right - and if so it wouldn't be very bright on his part - but since when has 'failure to be polite to an officer' or 'giving an officer lip' been a crime? Personally, as long as they aren't doing anything illegal or actually threatening an officer, I don't think people deserve a beating, arrest, etc. simply because they don't ask, "How high?" when an officer says, "Jump."2 points

Harwell's sudden close-knit ties with Ramsey are enough to set off the warning bells in my head...along with her "no" votes against overturning Bredesens vetoes of the restaurant bill. She and McCormick both need to be releveed of leadership roles and relegated to the broom closets...anyone notice McCormick's late-in-the-game attemtp to pull Maggarts' buns outta the fire by suddenly announcing that he was actually responsible for the failed Safe Commute bill (the disingenuity of which was quickly apparent, as the esteemed Governor also made the same claim at vurtually the same time)?2 points

When Harwell was elected Speaker, I knew that for Republicans it would be 'business as usual'. She is not a conservative. She is in it for the power and wants to be Governor after Haslam. As Speaker, she has been the primary person who decides what does, or does not , go to the floor for a vote. She has worked diligently behind the scenes to suppress efforts to pass a state constitutional amendment against an income tax. As for the 'property rights' argument against the Safe Commute Act, it's a red herring. When you park you car in a shopping mall parking lot, does that give the mall the right to search your car on a whim? If not, then why does that give them the right to dictate what legal objects you can have inside it? Can they dictate a 'no bibles' rule? How about a rule saying 'no political books or fliers'? But, it's somehow OK for them to dictate that you can't keep your legal firearm in that same vehicle? How does THAT make any sense? Harwell blew it. She supported a bunch of her fellow RINOs, and now wants to pretend to be conservative. Sorry, but there is too much evidence of her duplicity to allow that. Bye, bye, Beth!2 points

I L-O-V-E mine. It is a reloader's gun. If you don't reload you will not shoot it much because of the stupid cost of buying factory ammo. If you do reload you can load cheap. It packs quite the wallop, but I liken the recoil to a slug out of a 12 ga on heavy loads. I load lighter....405 grain bullet at 1400 or so fps is a sweet shooter....it can go up to almost 2000fps and really ring your bell. It is much more accurate than you would think. Mine touches 3 holes at 100 yards all day long 1 - 1.5" right out of the box. It reloads easy. Dirt cheap if you cast your bullets. There is a lot of case capacity so be safe if you are loading with 2400 or Unique. Reloader 7 is the best for hunting loads...I shoot 2400 almost exclusively. I really like the short barrel length of the guide gun. scope it with a 2-7 leupold and you have the perfect gun. The scout setup looks cool ( mine is set up that way) but in hindsight the standard scope location does just as well. If you were in Chattanooga I would let you shoot mine.2 points

I found this website through the TEOTWAWKI Blog. It has dozens of military field and training manuals for free download on just about everything you can think of. http://www.stevespages.com/page7c.htm1 point

In many of the discussions here we see that our country's descent into socialism or communism is of great concern, as it should be. We can look throughout history and recognize that countries in which the government imposes rigid structure over the behaviors of men are the ones that have the worst conditions for the majority of the inhabitants/citizens. People scoff at libertarianism as a bunch of baseless crazy ideas, but these same ideas are the antithesis of socialism/communism/collectivism and indeed the foundation for a free market capitalism and a life of self determination. I'm a bit of a Milton Friedman fan and hopefully this video will be of interest to folks who would like a better understanding of classical liberalism (Libertarianism).1 point

It is impressive how the writers of the show have turned Skyler into the one who is disliked. She, aside from Jesse, is the only moral compass in Walt's life now. I am annoyed by her too. A lot of people (myself included) are siding with Walt, when he is clearly "The Bad Guy". He isn't even Walt anymore...he's Heisenberg. But I admit, as much as I like Hank, I don't want him to catch Walt. The thing about this most recent episode is that it was set up by the first episode of the season. In THAT episode, with the magnet, it had the same feeling of whimsy of the early episodes in the series where Walt and Jesse were up to nonsense with Badger and Skinnie Pete and they would succeed in spite of themselves. "Dead Freight", had that same feeling...even with the drama of the heist and the good samaritan arriving in his F-350. When the crew was celebrating at the end I had a smile on my face, like "they pulled it off!" Then the gut punch that was jaw dropping. Incredible.1 point

It appears that according to some on this forum that is exactly what it means. They seem pathologically inable to diferentiate between private property where there's expectation of privacy, (their home, for instance), and private property that they open for business to the general public. There is no way they'd get away with demanding that a customer allow them to search their car, but it's ok to search an employee's car? I consider that hypocrisy at the core. But as to the topic, we know Harwell doesn't deserve her "A" rating from the NRA. When push came to shove she showed us where her loyalties lie. Anyone challenging her with a "R" by there name deserves a run at it before her, IMHO.1 point

You're not looking very hard then.... she fought guns in restaurant bill, fought guns in parks bill, fought the parking lot bill... She prevented constitutional carry from coming up for a vote... She also introduce and passed legislation that requires anybody with an ex parte protection order to turn all of their weapons over to the government. Even if the person in question has never been charged with a crime. Just remember that Harry Reid had a B rating from the NRA at one point not too long ago... Beth Harwell is a RINO, and is blocking a lot of pro-constitutional reforms from coming to the floor.... including repealing a number of bad firearm laws.1 point

wouldn't bother me at all no matter what flag he waved. Military wearing a different countries insignia is an apples and oranges argument. I don't see a bad time to celebrate your family's history.1 point

most everyone in this country used to be proud of their families heritage. My father is a very proud Irishman though he has only set foot on the Emerald Isle to see a ND football game. I knew lots of kids with Italian heritage, they were all very proud of it. I don't see the big deal that some guy celebrates where his bloodline came from..1 point

Someone always says this. Why?? He was obviosuly not a good person if he was willing to go into someones home unannounced then take pictures of their young daughter naked, while two boys sat in his patrol car. He wast a good kid, he was a punk who just hadnt been caught.1 point

Not worth it for the price. Maybe for $250, but that might just piss him off if you offer that. It's a novelty gun, or at least one which you can throw in the truck and not care if it gets stolen. Sounds to me that's what it was used for. $350 would be better put towards a G19 or some other useful 9mm.1 point

for most the carrier does not make a difference. some the higher $ have very nice finishes that are very easy to clean and self lubricating. if you are trying to shoot flys at 200 then a heavier for a longer lock time. if you building a gun for racing with fast cycling and lower recoil then a light weight bolt, like a JP LMOS1 point

Prag - Yes, I talked to Jeff. He was very helpful. Dennis - I was very concerned about the issue with the black filters coming apart after all of the comments I had read online, but I've talked to two different reps and both said Berkey changed the way they make the black filter a year or so ago. They now have a rim at the bottom that the filter material fits into instead of just being glued to a flat bottom piece. Reports are that the new design is holding up well. But that question is one of the reasons I wanted to talk to Jeff over the phone and discuss the issue. He was very up front about the problems they had with some of the previously designed filters and discussed at length the changes that had been made to solve the problem. I guess only time will tell for sure, but hopefully they've resolved the issue and I felt comfortable that they will stand behind the filters if there are any future problems. So far we're very pleased.1 point

I think SW hit a homerun shot here!! I think he is exactly right. I, In fact, do believe that anybody is better than what you have now with regard to Harwell, Ramsey, and several other politicos. They need to be challenged in the primaries and beaten in their individual districts in order to be gotten rid of, with outside help, if necessary. There is no doubt in my mind that these "Republicans" are carrying water for the large businesses that do not want the hastle of dealing with the "guns in the parking lot" thing. All these damned polititians need to be changed out regularly. They are popularly elected by the citizens of the state; and need to be voted out if found to be lacking. In my personal view; they are "bought and paid for" by the lobbysts and special interests. Dont let these people pee down your leg and tell you its raining. You are far better off with new people in these spots than you are with this current crop of trash. leroy1 point

Personally I like to be able agree or disagree with a post with a click of a mouse instead of sucking up bandwidth with post of "+1" or "Me too" or "I think you're full of crap" Maybe if the positives and negatives didn't accumulate and give a person a defining number that other, less than understanding types, might misinterpret as "this is a bad guy" it would be better???? The fact that I don't care if Gary Johnson is elected supreme chancellor of the united federation of planets doesn't mean squat to ArmyVeterans personal reputation. The guy is cool and done nothing wrong.1 point

I don't see any good reason at this point to be negative about Romney's chances...it certainly isn't a lock by any means but Obama is more than vulnerable.A lot of Obama's prior support has is, at best, not very enthusiastic right now because he hasn't given them enough "Obama money" yet or because he hasn't done enough for their particular pet concern. That may not translate into Romney voters but it might translate into non-voters. A lot is going to depend on how well Romney and Ryan can counter the onslaught and the very nasty, dirty, lies about them that Obama and Obama's minions (UAW, SEIU, NEA, etc) will be throwing at them.1 point

I don't think you need anything special. In fact, there may be a slight benefit to the lighter semi-auto carrier. If you're gonna have problems with the Blackout, it will be short cycling. I put a BCM full auto BCG in mine, but haven't shot it yet.1 point
