  1. Armed Home invader shot in face . . . It might be obvious to all concerned, but another name for this is "head shot." Good. It might give pause to other low-lifes contemplating a life of criminal home invasion.

  2. Saw it this morning as I was getting ready for work. Couldn't believe the wife opened the door that late at night. Some people just don't frickin' get it. My wife knows to let me get the door if someone comes a-pounding on it.

  3. I just saw that Hostess is in bankruptcy court - again. Those who would approach the zombie apocalypse like Woody Harrelson's "Zombieland" character, 'Tallahassee' might want to think about stocking up, just in case, as 'the last box of Twinkies anyone will ever enjoy' may come even before the zombies get here.

  4. Nothing wrong with being proud of your culture or where you came from. I suppose my immigrant grandfather should have been ashamed for flying the Irish flag? It'd be one thing if they were burning an American flag while waving the Mexican, but they aren't. I've known alot of Mexicans, born in Mexico, in Ca who were hands down more appreciative of our country than most fortunate enough to have been born here. Knew a guy who came from Costa Rico who could name more US presidents off the top of his head than most anyone else I've met. Proud American, proud Costa Rican.

  7. I will be consistent with my comments following the secret vote. The leadership positions need to be changed, just like a diaper and for the same reason. I am still dissapointed in all but 4 of the representatives (that being the four that I understand voted to pass the bill through to the floor). With as many co-sponsors as the bill had, several co-sponsors obviously caved to leadership demand.

  8. Personally I like to be able agree or disagree with a post with a click of a mouse instead of sucking up bandwidth with post of "+1" or "Me too" or "I think you're full of crap" Maybe if the positives and negatives didn't accumulate and give a person a defining number that other, less than understanding types, might misinterpret as "this is a bad guy" it would be better???? The fact that I don't care if Gary Johnson is elected supreme chancellor of the united federation of planets doesn't mean squat to ArmyVeterans personal reputation. The guy is cool and done nothing wrong.

  9. I find a lot to admire ab out Christie...frankly, seeing someone who isn't afraid to call BS BS is refreshing. That doesn't mean I want him as President; just that I admire the fact that he has some balls.

  11. If you don't feel comfortable with the bill of sale, don't use it. It's not required. Check the buyer's ID and if it's good, your obligations are fulfilled.

  12. You don't think Harwell, as well as Ramsey, had anything to do with Maggart blocking the vote? I think that they had everything to do with it, and Maggart was the sacrificial lamb for her troubles. As far as the parking lot bill I think that it was intentionally positioned/worded the way it was to create an intense debate showing that it was too hot of a potato when it very well could have been simplified into a law prohibiting anyone other than a LEO with probable cause to search a vehicle. Hard to interject an employer's property rights into that one.

  14. I took this last night. These are my EDC blades. Its usually the XM in my pocket but the others have their place as well. I still say the Rat 1 is the best folder you can get for 30 bucks.

  15. At work I carry a Boker Plus Rhino Stag. I love the thickness and the curved blade. It also has the leather sheath with a nice boot clip so I can carry it on the belt or clipped inside to a pocket. In my line of work I usually only have one hand and with the fixed blade it is just easier to work with. When not at work I rotate between my other Boker fixed blade knives. I have the Arbolito Stag Caper, The larger Arbolito Corzo Stag Caper, a Rambler, and the Bone handle Camper.

  17. I suppose I am a guilty party in this, but I too must plead ignorance. For my part, I just saw it as a "like/dislike" feature kind of like Facebook. I did not see any detailed explanation and I try to pay attention to announcements. I did not see this as some sort of project that required deep critical analysis of someone's comments. It's a web forum for exchanging ideas and entertainment as much as it is a source for general information (information that is really nothing more than someone's opinions, however well-informed it may be). It's similar to the "subject matter expert" experiment - I'm under the impression that it's not really being actively pursued at this point although a small number of people still have the label. At the end of the day, we know nothing about why someone was chosen as a SME, why others were not given the designation, nor does it really matter since people choose to believe what they want regardless of what someone claims to know. I'm not sure why anyone would get their knickers in a twist over "reputation points" on a web forum anyhow. It's not like they really mean anything. So some faceless person on the Internet likes what I had to say or not. OK, whatever... At this point, I won't +1 anything just to save myself the worry of reading another dress-down that suggests I am being a child because I used a feature on a web forum that wasn't really discussed or the purpose explained. I appreciate all the hard work that goes into this site, and I support it as a benefactor, but frankly I think some folks take these things a little too seriously and the petty comments get a bit old (I suspect this is what bkelm18 is referring to as well).

  18. Yeah, would have been better if he were dead. I'm sure the tax payer will be footing his medical bills to get him fixed up so he can try this again with success. The fact he was armed tells me he had sinister plans. Maybe he'll find Jesus now and talk other low life wastes of oxygen out of the criminal life or something. Or maybe he'll try this again at a household where they follow up their shots with an extra couple rounds. Either way would be a happy ending.

  19. I'm glad this ended well but as others have said, what was this woman thinking? I'm not against helping someone who needs it so if one of my neighbors that I know comes knocking for help I'm going to answer (even than I'll be armed) but if I don't know you and I'm not expecting you I'm not going to open the door; PERIOD. We had an incident in my neighborhood with a "kid" (very late teens) knocking on doors around 9PM ostensibly to sell magazines; we called the police and they arrested for drug paraphernalia and apparently he already had a record for burglary. In the past couple of years we've started a Neighborhood Watch program and thankfully, some folks have been educated about what to do and what not to do and it's made a difference in the amount of break-ins, etc. Aside from our revolving-door justice system, I think that one of the major causes of crime is the stupidity of victims.

  21. This little drama might be important to Main but of Main's 24 delegates, only 2 were designated for Romney in the first place...if none of them are seated that's 1.05% of the delegates who won't be there....I suspect that Romney can survive with only 1,471 delegates instead of 1,473.

  22. You'd be surprised how easily a kid can operate a gun. I brought home a new rifle a while back. My 4 yr old ran up and begged to hold it. I knelt down and held it across my knee for him to see. The first thing he did was grab the trigger and squeeze. The 2nd thing he did was grab the bolt handle and rotate it open, pull it back, push it back forward, and start to rotate it back down. I've never shown him how to operate a bolt gun, he just grabbed the handle and did it. My wife and I were both amazed. She claims it's inherent in boy DNA.

  23. My thoughts is that I would not be in too much of a rush to secure your weapon. The closest I ever came to needing my weapon was while I was spending some time in Kansas City. I had to be in a bad area of town, and one night I had a man follow me to my truck after stopping at a gas station. He was begging for money, but he was holding this shoe box rather suspicious like. He did not leave when told to, and even after I had gotten in my truck, he was right at my window with his box. Either way, I don't mean to hash out the details, but all I am saying is that after you have to use your weapon, you need to stay on the scene. If you are in some home boy's territory and you just put a hole in him to drain the stupid out, don't you think there is a good chance some of his buddies would be interested in harming you before the cops arrive? What I'm saying is that I am not going to be disarming myself until I feel certain the area is under control. For me, that is when the cops arrive. When you call 911, you need to give a description of yourself as the defensive shooter, and when the police arrive, follow their commands in regards with what to do with your weapon.

  26. Spank, I too work retail and have employers rules in place to prevent carrying of a firearm on company property. A LCP in a pocket holster and keeping my mouth shut about it is my preferred solution. If things go south, I can find a new job, my family doesn't find me so easily replaceable.

  28. Doubt very seriously that it's a Bass Pro Shop policy. Rather, the delusions in the fevered mind of one sub-par employee. Regardless, I don't show or handle my loaded concealed carry weapon in a store unless it's out and firing at a robber or some such. If I'd gone in planning to look at a holster, I'd test fit the holster on the store's unloaded copy of my weapon; no need for them to see my weapon.
