I finally got some time to actually hunt. My uncle has been losing chickens and a lot of them. He has lost 10 or 11 in the past 2 weeks or so. He is tired of keeping them in the pen. He has personally seen 3 of the chickens get taken by coyotes throughout the weeks. Since I was headed to Perry County anyways I decided to bring all my coyote gear with me. After spending some time with family, I drove over to his house to do some calling. I set up in a field behind his house were he has been seeing them the most. I pulled out my TC coyote reed made a few howls and went right into my DSG cottontail distress on my fox pro. It played through 2 sequences and out came this young male. He ran right up to my caller and 50 or so yards later he layed within 2 feet of it. My total set up to the shot was less than 8 minutes. I called for a little longer but had no more takers. Equipment used: Howa M1500 Ranchland 243 Catridge: Hornady Superformance 58 grain V Max Calls: TC coyote pup diaphragms and Fox Pro Wildfire Sounds played: Young coyote pup howl, DSG cottontail and Coyote pup distress Stands made: 1 Coyotes seen:1 and 1 shot Oh and don't mind my blue tennis shoes. I forgot my boots at home. At least I didn't wear my crocs lol. Thats also my dog Jack in the picture. He tries to re-kill the animals I bring to show him.1 point

There’s a Crack in THE DOME. How’s it Going to End? Posted by checkmate2012 (Diary) Saturday, August 4th at 4:30PM EDT51 Comments Cameras in place, cue the lights, turn up the mics. And action. Into our view is the most elaborate stage ever seen for a political convention with the enormous Greek columns flanking the stage with two huge video screens displaying colossal images of the Democratic nominee, inevitably our new presidential American idol. Indeed a monumental stage built in the image of ancient times for a Greek God overlooking his sacrificial sheep. The plot thickened from that historic and gluttonous night like a Greek tragedy. Hope and Change is the mantra of the great idol. Yes we can is chanted from coast to coast, speeches are heard from the One like no other: â€This was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to healâ€. Commentators get thrills up their legs and can’t believe what a great orator Obama is and how he transcends race and time. The smartest man to ever run for office is elected President of the United States and is sworn in on Inauguration Day, Jan. 20, 2009. After that historic day, something unexpected happened to America. Something that many refuse to believe to this day, although many tried to sound the alarm before election day. With soda and popcorn in hand, the American people were ready or were they? Here’s how the movie plays out. The country finally comes down from their high like a climber from Mt. Olympus, only to find out that the radicals from the 1960′s have infiltrated the White House, but peacefully as appointed Czars. What’s a Czar and how did they get their positions without Senate approval? You are not to question those upon high that know what’s best for all. The economy is bleeding jobs by the hundreds of thousands. The markets and banks are failing. TARP to the rescue to save the banks and prevent the greatest financial meltdown since the Great Depression. We must pass the huge Stimulus Bill that was touted as the panacea to job creation with shovel ready jobs in infrastructure, education and training and more police and firemen. The answer to keeping the unemployment rate below 8% with promises of 5% soon. Focused like a laser on jobs and many nights of going to bed at night with the last thought being jobs and the first thought upon waking being jobs, the President and the Democratic lead House and Senate spent the next two years on health care for all. What a noble thought when the only thing the people wanted was a job. Arms were twisted, deals were made behind doors, and religious convictions were compromised like a deal with the devil. Plans and programs were implemented in the name of saving the economy and getting people back to work. Cash for clunkers, EPA regulations galore, man made contingencies, the war on terror is over, terrorists released from Gitmo, government takeover of industries, bankruptcy laws lay in heap of dust, oil and gas leases suspended indefinitely, CIA interrogators to be tried for waterboarding terrorists, rising gas prices, DOJ sues states for voter id laws and attempts at stemming illegal immigration, FBI manuals scrubbed for references to Muslims, skyrocketing gas prices, apologies to our enemies, animosity towards our friends, pipeline refused, DOMA not recognized, gay marriage is ok, war on women, contraceptives for all without regards to religion, amnesty granted, Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell no longer applies, green energy loans to donors, TSA to unionize, the capitol of Israel is not Jerusalem, Muslim Brotherhood invited to White House, Christian businesses are to be boycotted. Yet still no jobs and it’s getting worse. This is the Obama Show. Sound familiar? It should. The American people are the puppets of this administration and have been choreographed with excruciating detail as if we were actors being filmed in, “The Truman Showâ€: This president has put a dome over the American people with a script for transforming this country into something we never wanted. We have been made to be prisoners in our own country with the directors of this film controlling our every move. From the onerous regulations to the omnipresent image of the ruler on high on our TV 24 hours a day. There is no escaping it. This is akin to Woodrow Wilson’s ministry for propaganda called the Committee on Public Information. Today we might call it the thought police. The president even told us as much when he said in an interview with Charlie Rose a couple of weeks ago, “The mistake of my first couple of years was thinking that this job was just about getting the policy right,†he said. “But, you know, the nature of this office is also to tell a story to the American people that gives them a sense of unity and purpose and optimism.†And like Truman in the movie, the people saw the first crack in the dome on July 13th in Roanoke, VA when the idol famously said, “if you have a business, you didn’t build thatâ€. It has taken nearly four years for the majority of true believers to see that maybe something isn’t quite right with this president and his way of governing. The symbolism of the Greek temple backdrop at his Democratic Convention speech should have been a warning to all watching. Greek temples are a symbol of idolatry, for raising one up above all of humanity to be worshipped. But sacrificial offerings must be made to appease the Gods. We are the sacrificial sheep and must submit to those that know best for us unless we choose to stand up now and refuse. Our only hope of escaping this B-rated bad movie known as our fate, is to vote him out of office on Nov 6th in an overwhelming fashion to account for the margin of fraud. There is no other way out of this nightmare we have been cast into without our consent. End The Obama Show this November or we may witness the worst Greek Tragedy ever: America as we know and lo1 point

What I am tired of is a bunch of Americans trying to tell me how I have to vote. I'll vote the way I feel I need to. This d*** two party system is not democracy, it is special interests on one side trying to dominate my life more than the special interests on the other side. The worst part is that you "Supermen worshippers" don't even see that you are democracy's worst enemy. Forget the personalities and the lies and start looking at the problems and some possible solutions. Neither of the two reigning parties is going to do anything to improve our lives. The answer is simple, " Don't send anybody back", send all new people for the next three elections and it will so muddy the waters that the parties may very well lose control. Send as many Independents as you can. The argument that "they can't do anything" doesn't hold water. The people there now aren't doing anything!1 point

Ask at your range if they have any instructors. They may have someone certified or know someone. I am neutral about learning on the glock. On the one hand, its your gun, you are gonna carry it one day maybe, and the more you use that one, the better you get with it. It isnt a target pistol but (and I dislike them... keep that in mind) they are plenty accurate. On the other hand, the trigger is unfriendly and the recoil is a bit stout and can lead to flinching. I will leave you with one thought: if you are serious, a .22 target pistol (not talking olympic here, just a ruger mark or similar gun, $400 or so) will pay for itself in short order and is much better for accuracy training. By the time you have pulled the trigger on that 9mm 2500-3000 times, the ammo cost would have paid for both the .22 AND the same amount of ammo for it.... or very nearly.1 point

Yup, me too. I won't vote for Romney any more than I'll vote for Obama. Every election is the same, it's "panic time" because "this is the most important election ever", and everyone lines up to vote down the party line - not because they believe in the candidate, but because the fear-mongering from their own party actually worked. Vote for whoever you want, but realize that continuing to vote for the status quo (and don't kid yourself, Romney is the status quo, just like Obama) is why we're where we are today. But I'm sure many here will utilize pretzel logic to blame everyone but themselves for the situtiation we're in.1 point

I've had that happen to myself and also my ex. She called me on her way home from church and said someone was following her. I told her not to come home but to the store just down the road and I would meet her there, I got there before she did. He saw her on her cell phone and sped off before she got there. I thought a couple of times someone was following me, I didn't come straight home but circled around the block before I pulled in the driveway. I figure best not to let someone know where you live.1 point

Some may have seen this chain email and I have no idea if it's true but it does have some good solutions to the problems. Warren Buffett, in a recent interview with CNBC, offers one of the best quotes about the debt ceiling: "I could end the deficit in 5 minutes," he told CNBC. "You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election. The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971 - before computers, e-mail, cell phones, etc. Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took one (1) year or less to become the law of the land - all because of public pressure. Warren Buffet is asking each addressee to forward this email to a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise. In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed around. Congressional Reform Act of 2012 1. No Tenure / No Pension. 2. A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they're out of office. 3. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security. 4. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose. 5. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do. 6. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise.Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%. 7. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people. 8. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people. 9. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void effective 12/1/12. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen/women. Congress made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work. If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people (in the U.S. ) to receive the message. Don't you think it's time? THIS IS HOW YOU FIX CONGRESS! (I'm guessing Hell will freeze over when this happens.)1 point

I always wondered with approximatly 320 million people in the U.S., how can anyone think martial law could be enforced? If anything, a declaration of martial law would actually greatly increase civil unrest, and possibily cause unrest and division in the military. Enforcing martial law and getting the whole population to comply is impossible. We are far from the French and Germans of the 30s and 40s.1 point

I've had the pleasure of meeting General Boykin on several occasions and even having a long conversation regarding his own rich history in service to our country. He is a great American. However, he is not known for thinking before speaking and has a history of being controversial to a fault. I don't believe his words on the economy or the likely outcome of the devaluing of our currency holds any more weight than anyone here on this forum.1 point

It's almost impossible to "buy" a good cast bullet. I don't know why, but companies just don't seem to understand how to size things properly. First two rules of cast bullets. 1> Fit is King. 2> Lube is queen. My meaning. That bullet has got to make an absolute seal in the bore. IF you are shooting a .357 magnum, take one of the bullets you bought. Using a sharpie, number the chambers in the cylinder. Now gently drive one bullet through the cylinder. Squirt a little in in there first. You need to do it five more times, one to each throat in the cylinder. Measure carefully and look for the loosest throat, or the largest one. THat'll be the one that will lead on you if there's a lot of difference. The largest number you come up with, add .0015-.002 and that'll be the bullet size you need. Next slug the barrel the same way. You need to make sure the throats are not sizing the bullet down before they reach the bore. That doesn't mean it's a poorly built handgun wither. Ruger and S&W had several runs where this was a problem. Back to what I was saying about fit; IT has to make a perfect seal or gas cutting will give you leading. People tend to think that the lube is just that, a lubricant. Not really. Sure it does to some degree but a bullet doesn't really need a lubricant. Jacketed bullets don't. THat bullet lube acts like an Oring seal. It takes up the slack where the bullet is not sealing by itself. It's lubricating properties, while important, are secondary. The bullet has GOT to fit the gun. Manufacturing tolerances and variations is why manufacturers cannot get it right. WHy they insist on staying on the low side is beyond me. If you're shooting cast in a 30 caliber and using a .309 bullet, I doubt you will have much luck. I shoot .311 in all my .30 caliber guns. Here's what people can't get in their head. It's really not possible to shoot a cast bullet that's too big. IF ti will fit the throat of a given gun, it will fire. Many is the time that I have developed a load and never slugged the barrel. Slug the throat and see what size it is. Chambering a load to match all guarantees it'll be big enough. I suck at typing this stuff out. If there's gaps in there, I'm sorry. I try to explain it every time someone asks, but I get started and then get impatient. Sorry. Ask away, I love to help people the silver light.1 point

I graduated high school in 1985. No cell phones back then. I am just wondering what we did when we had an emergency. I guess there were no emergencies before cell phones were invented. I also think they should not be allowed at work unless you are using for work related calls. Nothing that I have seen in the last 25 years has led to more unproductivity and lack of respect for the workplace than cell phone usage and texting.1 point

Look, no matter what they report to us publicly, there is a larger underlying reason for most of these laws. It's "ease of enforcement" and "ability to effectively prosecute". The reason you can't hunt coyotes with a .223 during archery is because it's easier to make a case against a poacher if all centerfires are illegal during that time frame. Most of these laws are written to give the game wardens a chance at making their case stick when they are basing a bust on prima facie evidence. There is little regard given to what should make sense in the woods. There is no mistaking a coyote hunter with a deer poacher. He either has a dead deer or he doesn't. Possession of ANY weapon during ANY season should not be illegal. It's illegal to kill an animal out of season. Any law added beyond that is for "ease of enforcement". I know that lots of sorry butts are busted on little more than these flimsy prima facie cases, but I don't like having to worry about what new laws have popped up each year to make a game warden's job easier. If I ain't killing deer out of season, then I shouldn't have to worry about what I am hunting coyotes with.1 point

To the OP I've worked retail that had no weapons policy in store & on premises. I've also seen new district managers come into stores & term 10-15+ yr managers/supervisors for 'performance/store conditions'. Which actually means they gave into the pressure from their boss to cut payroll and the quickest way after cutting hours is churning high rate management/cashiers. We had a mgr meeting once where the admin asst of the dm prepared a big binder (bout 125pgs) for each mgr. She accidentally included the emp id/payrate/# of vac weeks allocated for every full time emp in each store in the district. The admin asst was only supposed to include this set of pages in dm binder for after meeting reviews. Admin asst was fired within 1 month. Incidentally, it was like clockwork over the next 3 years that those highest paid mgrs/supervisors were termed as well. Two mgrs did file suit and received settlement. The point is retail CHAIN companies don't care about you one iota. You're just a numerical expense. If the shtf in the pipeline or new upper mgrs roll through you are the scapegoat. You have a greater likelihood of being afforded dignity & consideration with an independent pfft if you can find one that can afford to pay you though ;( All that being said trying for deep concealment & doing planograms or stocking shelves can be a very bad idea. The choice to try to carry in that environment is fraught with a very high risk of discovery. It depends on the exact nature of your position and the amount of physical contortion you are doing that might reveal your policy breach. There isn't a retail job I could have where I would pay attention to any policy about having it in your vehicle. I would recommend a vehicle safe with locking cable & numeric keypad. Biometric is awesome for at home sure. with a keypad you can't remember the combination to show the LP guy the contents, you'll probably be fired sure, only pg 87 of all the small print you probably agreed in your hire paperwork to comply with personal and vehicle inspections. you do have some legal grey area regarding being forced to input the combination etc (whole side issue there). Really though, if you got fired from your retail job how hard would it be to get another retail job? Easier than being reborn from a carjacking two miles from work on the way home because your retail job made you work until the store closed at 10pm & you are there another 30 min on a friday night?1 point
