  4. So, an off-duty LAPD officer leaves his unholstered and loaded Glock service pistol under the seat of his truck. He then takes the child seat out of his truck and goes for a ride with his 3 year old son, who retrieved the Glock from under the driver's seat and fired a shot into his dad. Now dad is suing Glock for not producing a firearm with "adequate safety features" to prevent his kid from shooting it. Give. Me. A. Friggin'. Break. http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/Judge-allows-paralyzed-dad-to-sue-Glock-3732408.php

  5. Been drooling over one of these for a couple of weeks now. Met the wife's technical requirement of selling one of our current stockpile before being allowed to get it.. Sad but true. Sold the Bersa UC Pro 45 to a member here and ran down the road to Franklin to pick this up on the way home. Going to order a .40 barrel and 9mm conversion this weekend, was too expensive at the shop to have them get it for me. This officially makes me a flip-flopper for talking trash about glock and then buying one.

  6. Well i was on my way back from an appointment and stopped at G&L to check out their store. I've been looking at getting a G19 and was trying to decide between a gen 3 or 4. I ended up picking up a gen 4. Nice guys and prices are reasonable. I don't even want to imagine what i would have paid for it at franklin gun shop. I went to CHMR when i got home and fired off about 50 rounds. No issues so far. I've only ran HKs before and this is my first Glock. Looking forward to running this and seeing how it compared to my p2000sk.

  7. Perhaps I've missed this in another thread but in the image of the fire exit look at the ar-15. If for some reason the picture cannot be seen, go here and check it out: http://www.dailymail...ath-Ledger.html Now it could just be piss poor reporting which would not surprise me but I've read something to this extent from different sources: http://www.nytimes.c...al-arsenal.html

  8. I've been wanting to get started reloading now for a couple of years. To begin with there was a real cash flow problem but I started collecting brass. Once there was a little extra cash I started buying a few die sets and other pieces necessary to reload. Bought some cast bullets from Tn Valley Bullets. Then finally was able to buy a press. Bought 5k primers from our buddy, David. Then the powder. Then it was like waiting for my 1st HCP to come in the mail! I wanted an experienced reloaded to come by and coach me in the 1st session. Well today was that day. A friend from KY was in town and stopped by and got me up and running. I loaded 10 rds and then drove over to the TWRA range on Hobson Pk. It was a thrill to fire off my 1st loads!! They all fired perfectly! I'm still a "baby" reloader" so extra attention will be the norm and not to see how many rds I can load an hour or anything like that. I'll still be watching forums like this for info. I gots lots to learn yet but at least now I can stop saying that I'm gonna be a reloader!

  9. Under almost any outcome of this scenario, SOME armed response would have been better than NO armed response. Most patrons in the theatre, after the first shot into the ceiling, would have been at least sitting down if not actively gluing themselves to the floor. The shooter, by accounts, was up and walking around, and therefore a clearer target. Even with smoke obscuring vision, in the dark theatre, a armed response aimed at at least at the muzzle flashes would have a good chance of connecting with the perpetrator. Empty a magazine into the bastard: whether body armour or no, whether a head-shot or no, whether collateral wounding or no, an armed response from any point in the theatre would have meant either the same or fewer people shot.

  10. And yet no matter the evidence and indications to the contrary, there is still a significant group of self-avowed conservatives who are so determined to grasp at straws and cling to false hope that they think electing Romney is going to make a significant difference or even save us all from 'certain' destruction. Or maybe they are just so blinded by party politics that they just can't imagine voting for someone other than one of the two sides of the same, plug nickel that gets pushed on this country every year - and then, because they can't remove the party blinders and vote for someone who isn't one of the 'big two', they declare that no one else should do so, either, because an alternate candidate 'can't win' - never seeing that the only reason the alternate candidate 'can't win' is because they and others like them are too scared, too stubborn or simply too indoctrinated to vote outside of party lines. I don't get it and I guess I never will...and I'm not sure I want to.

  11. Yeah, just look at what a great job the Republicans have done in supporting us here in TN since they are pretty much completely in charge AND have a Repub in the Governor's mansion.

  14. for range work, anything cheap. I usually use brass cased (anything). some firearms are particular about the rounds they run. Some run anything and everything. Bullet weight (for plinking) does not matter. Most FMJ ammo is 115gr for 9mm. for SD, again, you should try some in your gun. Same note as above. In my 9mm's, I run Speer Gold Dot Hollow points, 147gr. Here is a list of recommended 9mm SD rounds: 9mm Barnes XPB 115gr HP (35515) such as loaded by Cor-Bon (DPX09115) Winchester Partition Gold 124gr JHP (RA91P) Winchester Ranger-T 124 gr +P JHP (RA9124TP) Winchester Ranger Bonded 124 gr +P JHP (RA9BA) Winchester Ranger-T 127gr JHP +P+ (RA9TA) Winchester Ranger-T 147gr JHP (RA9T) Winchester Bonded 147gr JHP (RA9B/Q4364) Speer Gold Dor 124gr JHP Speer Gold Dot 124gr JHP +P (53617) Speer Gold Dot 147gr JHP (53619) Remington Golden Saber 124 gr +P JHP bonded (GSB9MMD) Remington Golden Saber 147gr JHP (GS9MMC) Federal Tactical 124gr JHP (LE9T1) Federal Tactical 135gr JHP +P (LE9T5) Federal HST 147gr JHP (P9HST2) Federal HST 124gr JHP +P (P9HST3)

  15. Don't worry too much about your practice ammo. Buy what's available and affordable. Like Jonnin, I tend to avoid Tula and other steel case stuff. I usually buy Winchester Supreme Elite PDX1 +P 124gr for carry and home defense. Wal-Mart carries it, and Winchester claims that the FBI is using it as their duty round. Speer Gold Dot is also highly thought of. The critical part in choosing a defensive round is to run a sufficient amount of your chosen ammo through your gun to make sure it functions reliably. I know it's hard to make yourself shoot a bunch of rounds that cost $1 each, but you really need to do it.

  17. it would be nice if your bought ammo is close to your defense ammo, but it really does not matter. Defense ammo is going to have more recoil regardless --- so the usual answer for practice is the cheapest thing you can find, to get more shots downrange for more practice. You may want to avoid steel cased ammo, or not, but I do not care for that stuff and go one grade higher, like PMC or winchester white box or blazer brass. Defense ammo, I like low flash powder and +p behind a hollow point. Several companies offer defense ammo and all of it is probably equally effective for the most part. Buffalo bore makes a potent load with low flash powder, good products there. I like the bullet design of hornady lately. But that is 2 of 25 or more great choices.

  19. A 10mm would have vaporized him, and a good deal of the front corner of the theater. In all seriousness, I would have had a LCP on me in a summertime theatre...not sure how much use it would have been. I would have only been sitting near him in that portion of the theatre if I'd had to be...likely would have been dead center of the theatre. I am not sure I could have done much given that and my sidearm. A non-bullet proof vest that had loaded mags in it would likey have stopped any of my fire. EDIT: wanted to add that I spelled "threatre" that way to bring some elegance to the discussion.

  20. Well, you requested the verbage indicated in the law. I went one further and even offered the AG opinion which appears to be contrary to yours. Not that I don't support your right to decide what goes on in your business, but for the point of clarification that you asked for I figured I'd deliver. Since you post similar verbage to include it being a crime to carry past your sign it meets the criteria set forth in the law and is in line with the AG's opinion, but your assessment a few posts up where you state that "just about anything you put on the sign is legal in my opinion" would be incorrect according to the law and the opinion of the AG. To answer the question that was posed before, no. A flying fork is not a "legal" posting. Apparently the manager didn't care so long as he had a HCP. Sounds like a good interaction IMO. I'm not condoning everyone to just blow off the wishes of a property owner, I'm just making the facts clear. The fact is that nothing legally is gonna happen to you if you don't see a sign. The only way someone is going to get charged under this law is if they're breaking another law, such as trespassing, at the time they are breaking this one.

  21. I see fault on both sides here. The utility worker had no business touching the homeowner. That's a no-no. He should have either called his supervisor or left. The meter didn't have to be installed right then and there. The homeowner had no business bringing her weapon into it. Her life was not being threatened. I'd say that either one of them has cause to charge the other with assault.

  22. Ignorance at work. It's clear that the utility owns the meter, not the homeowner. If I were the worker, I'd file charges.
