As long as they're killing each other, I am not moved. Live by the sword and all. It's when innocents get killed that bug me. Everytime I see a picture of someone shot in gang violence and the picture they use of the "victim" is a mugshot I can't bring myself to care.6 points

This is correct. Its not PROPERLY posted. A tiny sign in one location doesn't suffice. it needs to be on all entrances. Same goes for West Town mall. This doesn't mean they cant ask you to leave, just like the story Wewo posted above. If you don't leave, then its Trespassing. Moral of the story is, Conceal, and do it well, and you wont have any issues3 points

Well, I may not be as smart as Esquire, but I don't go around making threats and insults.Did the incident go down exactly as my friend describe it to me? I don't, know. I'm just relaying what I was told from a first hand witness who saw the whole thing and made the report to CCA employees. The local online news agencies had very little details to report on the incident, and it sounded to me like maybe there was a little bit more to the story. If I remember correctly, he told me that CCA has video running of the range and the whole thing was caught on tape. I know (and hope for the family's sake) that the video would never be made public, but I'm sure someone has seen it and knows the details. I'm pretty sure he told me the police reviewed it with him and discussed the timing of events. I know the whole "My friend told me so" thing is not very believable to a lot of people, and if anyone wants to call BS then it is their right. However, I consider him a reliable source. If it's not true, then my friend is a dirty, scum sucking liar. But if it is true, then this incident should be a recruiting tool for how NOT to run a gun/range business.. Esquire, if you have information that conflicts what I said, then by all means share it and set the record straight. All your post did was to make it seem like you are a CCA associate, that wants someone to just shut up by hurling insults and threats at them. While I've never personally experienced it (until now), I have heard that is similar behavior from some of the CCA staff. The fact of the matter is, this really is an unfortunate event. This young man's life will forever be changed and will be difficult to say the least. I'm sorry if I caused hard feelings among any members here on TGO, that was certainly not my intention.3 points

Blaming crime on alcohol and drugs is no different than blaming guns. It places blame on things rather than the person who commits the crime. What we need is more personal responsibility and real accountability.2 points

I wish they would just herd all the known gangbangers into one of the ghettos, surround them with 100 ft concrete walls, and let them kill each other off, a la "Escape From New York".2 points

Soooo, things happen, and hard work is sometimes appreciated. I have been the QA Manager for three years (until last Thursday) with the company I work for. As of 2pm Thursday, I have assumed the role of Plant Manager for our two manufacturing facilities in Chattanooga (approximately 350 people total employment / 75mm in annual sales). I am very excited to have the opportunity, and nervous at the same time. Lot of responsibility, but I have a great support staff that I have already worked with during these years. Just wanted to share, and am always open to advice.2 points

Momma is very happy. I gotta say, it's a weird little bugger. Comfortable to be so small, very nicely made, great trigger [leaps and bounds above any other pocket pistol I ever seen] My god it's got one tough recoil spring though. Understandably being a 9mm but it's very stiff. I have a selection to feed it and see what it likes. Either way, the wife is happy. That means I am too. She's so happy I just got all my parts ordered for building my 300 blackout. Woot!1 point

Romney's a pragmatist, and he'll try to run the place as a business as much as possible. Sure, his stances have not been the same forever. Reagan was once an uber liberal Hollywood union president, too. Wise people learn and change as they go through life. - OS1 point

Explain to me how that's prejudice? It's just the truth. On a tangent, I'll have to admit, there's really not a lot of prejudice or racism here at TGO. That makes me proud. I think I speak for most of us when I say, we take a R. Lee Ermey approach to the matter. There is no racial bigotry here. We do not look down on.................................Here you all equally worthless.1 point

I know that I'm showing my prejudice here, but I've learned how to interpret these stories in the Leaf Chronicle: 19 yr old + drive by shooting + Chevy Impala + no witnesses/suspects + Summit Heights territory= Drug/Gang shooting.1 point

Please tell me that you won't be attending any movie premieres in the near future.1 point

For you conspiracy theorists, what group specifically do you think would conspire to kill 70 people, including small children, to help with the gun control effort?1 point

I don't think it would have mattered what caliber gun you had, the ammo or the fact that he was kitted up. I would bet any amount of money that the criminal would have broken contact and fled. Someone bent on murdering helpless people is not the type of person that has the balls to go toe to toe with someone capable of defending themselves.1 point

Two points that the TV media have ignored: 1) There are several movie theaters nearby. Why did he choose the one he did? We know that he meticulously planned this attack. Is it coincidence that that theater is posted AGAINST concealed carry? 2) There was nother attempted mass murder in Aurora, CO on April 30th this year. Shooter had multple guns, body armor, lots of ammo. Killed two and then was drilled in the head by an off-duty cop with a concealed handgun. End of that 'rampage'! I am terrified at the thought of standing with my little pistol against some nut armed with a rifle and armored like this fellow. But, I hope that I would have the courage to at least try. It's certainly better than cowering in fear and hoping he moves on without shooting me or my loved ones.1 point

Could we please have these people put into context "violence". As far as I can tell all this "violence" is due to occupation and lifestyle. I you're a gangster you are more likely to be a "victim" of violence. Is that really a problem? Couldn't we classify this differently? Linking this to guns is, once again, silly. Vermont is on there as being one of the safest States in the country, but they don't even require a permit to carry a firearm. Obviously guns are not the common denominator.1 point

Knocking on someone's door, no matter time of day, is not a crime. Pointing your gun at them is.1 point

there is very little anyone could do. Movie theater aisles are what? 30 seats across maybe. How is anyone going to charge a shooter from that? Maybe if you are on the aisle seat you might have a chance, Other than that you duck and cover, hope to get passed over. I am hopeful my reaction would be to cover my loved ones, I think thats how it would play out. If I take one in the back then so be it.1 point

Huckabee touched on something there, but I'd also ad that it has a lot to do with the move toward no family values. The federal government is raising the majority of kids these days while both parents work to keep up with the joneses, pay for cable, cell phones for everyone in the family or to just keep food on the table and the lights on in some cases. Why were there so many young children at this event? First of all, it is a very dark movie and second of all, it was midnight. It makes me ponder the lack of family and morals in today's society.1 point

i watch and listen to beck on gbtv. the big problem is that most peoples don't. they don't even watch fox news channel. they get their news for ncb, cbs, abc and cnn. which to me is all crap. so there is the bigger problem, no one will know what beck did except the small few.1 point

Feet? They all said they were in their apartments, couldn’t hear anything other than the shot and someone yelling for help, wasn’t sure who was who. How many feet?1 point

I'm not too worried. If the government can't round up 40 million illegals, how is it going to find 300 million guns?1 point

Well, I'm happy and sad for you. I'm glad you have a good job, and I'm glad you have been promoted. I hope you got a little more fundage to go with it! I hate the stress you'll be under though. But hey, figure in all the people who are unemployed and the stress might lessen a touch. Kings to you brother!1 point

It's all well and good that S&W will fix the problem when you bring it to their attention: in my industry we used to call that "Customer Beta Testing." It's a whole lot better if they check the firearms for the problem BEFORE they ship them. Keep the Beta Testing in the factory.1 point
