  1. Yesterday I took my new P938 Extreme out to the range for the first time. I picked it up on Friday, field stripped, cleaned and gave it fresh lub and placed it in my High Noon tuckable IWB Hidden Alley and wore it around a bit to find the most comfortable position. I normally carry at about 4 o'clock and this worked well even when in the most casual of positions. Out at the range, after reading reviews of FTEs and other issues, I mainly shot for reliability rather than accuracy. As with my other 9s, at the range I normally shoot White Box, the 115 gn. I alternated between the regular and the extended magazine. The only problem I had was in initially bring the round into battery, with the extended magazine, it failed to fully go into battery and required a positive push. I attributed this to the magazine spring which is extremely stiff and noticed that it caused the initial round to try to load slightly to the right. I think that as the spring gets worked in the problem should disappear. Frankly, as it is only on the initial round if the weapon is carry as designed, in Condition 1, this shouldn't be an issue. I shot about 50 rounds of the White Box with no issues other than a single failure to eject. I dropped the magazine, cleared, reinserted the magazine and cycled with no further issues. I then shot about 20 rounds of Lawman FMJ with no issues. I then fired 20 rounds of Federal 9bple in +p+ with no issues. After shooting I again field stripped the pistol and found it remarkably clean. I saved cleaning until I got home. Let's see, overall it performed very well. As I said I wasn't shooting for accuracy but was shooting 8 in Bianchi plates at 25 meters and hit about as many as I do when I shoot for accuracy so without a specific accuracy exercise I'm confident in hitting a man sized target center mass out to 25 meters which is all one can really expect from a subcompact like the 938. I really didn't notice any excessive muzzle flash from any of the rounds and the recoil was what I expected and was frankly, less than some of the smaller poly guns I've shot. As to the downside, I sold my PPK because it kept taking chucks out of the web of my hand. I had a similar such incident with the standard, as opposed to the extended magazine because I was trying to over grip the pistol. After the first time, I saw why it happened, compensated and it didn't happen again. Also I've become so unaccustomed to physical labor and I'm sorry to say my hands are softer than I might like in the manly area. The Extreme has very aggressive checkering on the back strap starting about the middle down to the magazine well. I didn't notice it at the time but I noticed a small blister in the middle of my palm where the aggressive checking begins. This will be remedied by toughening up through more range time or real work. I'm very happy I picked the 938 and am now confident in its ability as a carry gun. It's light weight (I'm used to a 220) and small size makes it an ideal pistol for concealed carry. Further it will fit the myriad of holsters of every style created for the 238. With the ability to shoot 9mm self defense rounds it inspires more confidence than the 238 and is perfect as a back up for a 1911 or other SAO .45 or full size 9.

  2. Is Jeremiah Wright (as detestable as he is) hanging out with Al-Qaeda or did I miss something? Is his organization responsible for one of the worst terrorist attacks on America? Has he/his organization been bombing US warships, embassies, attacking hotels, sending out suicide bombers, killing and mutilating people for kicks, etc? If Alwaki was some random dude who was incorrectly labeled all those years, why didn't he just turn himself in and be proven innocent in the court of law? If you are a terrorist or hang out with terrorists, you run the risk of being targeted. Play with fire, you're going to get burnt.... Actions have consequences.

  6. Two separate issues - if the right to life is truly unalienable, given by 'their Creator', then as DaddyO and Mike pointed out above, the government shouldn't have the right to regulate it (or the defense thereof) regardless of the the person's legal status or citizenship. I applaud you for doing things legally and in the correct manner and believe we need more people like you, not people sneaking across the border. But that said, no matter how they get here, if the rights are truly (supposed to be) unalienable, then I'm not in favor of any citizenship-based laws curtailing those rights. It shouldn't surprise me anymore, but it still does that so many here seem to be will to draw a line in the sand, essentially suggesting 'this person has unalienable rights, but that person does not'. Makes me wonder if they even understand what unalienable means. Or maybe they consider the government their 'creator'.

  7. I choose to not live in fear. When I see troops training in public. I see just that, troops training for urban warfare. If you think that's meant against civilians, so be it, I see it differently.

  8. When I was in the National Guard we would hold training in places such as the local fair grounds while old folks chipped golf balls in the dirt parking lot. Often times we had local law enforcement serve as role players in training events. All in public for everyone to see. Maybe some folks found it an odd sight, but only folks looking for something that isn't there would probably go off running like chicken little. On active duty I recall dozens of training events that went on in urban areas, especially cities, in order to bring some realism to the training and present challenges that are difficult to reconstruct anywhere else. We did all these training events with the cooperation of local/state and sometimes federal law enforcement so that they knew what we were doing in their backyard so there wasn't any incidents of mistaken identity and so that they could notify the community to prevent any concern. This goes on all the time and most time s folks don't even know. In fact, I've done several training events right there in downtown Nashville when I was still in the Army. All this was to better prepare us for our jobs downrange, and it did. Going out of your way to see something that isn't there IS tinfoil hat territory. Hardly do I think a reserve unit meeting their 2 week annual training requirements signifies the beginning of a sinister plot to subject Americans under a dictatorship come November. By all means, any of you can go to St Louis and observe the training and I bet once you see the swollen uniforms of a bunch of non-combat arms weekend warriors your concern will go out the window. Or the sky is falling. I'll resurrect this thread in November so I can say I told you so, but I'm sure by then they'll be 10 more conspiracy theories about how the gov is going to put you in concentration camps using street thugs from the ghetto. That sounds a whole lot more realistic than the explanation I gave you above.

  9. Who are you afraid of? What type of information do you have that you can’t post here? And there you have it. Even if anyone bought into this, I’m not sure why they think the Military and Police would attack civilians. But even if they did, they would have to remain a cohesive unit; and they couldn’t. The Military and Police are filled with Americans, a very small percentage would turn of their country; those that did would quickly be put down. It wouldn’t be a military action; it would be a civil war. There wouldn’t be any Military or Police Departments left to act as a unit.

  10. That's ridiculous. I suppose they're going to remove all the porn, gangsta rap, and giant sugary drinks as well?

  11. there is no right to carry, certainly not in TN. I personally believe I do not need the blessing of any governing body to have a right to self defense. Nor does anyone anywhere that draws breath. Unfortunately the goobermint does not agree. We got to pay for the priviledge. Aliens, illegal or otherwise should be able to carry, period.

  14. To me, the RKBA is just that... a right, and not a privilege. Driving is a privilege. Constitutionally speaking, the state's permission to carry a firearm for self-protection is not required. It is enumerated in the Bill of Rights as God-given and the government, according to that document, is not allowed to infringe on it. Requiring a citizen to pay the government and be subjected to scrutiny before exercising that right is a violation of the Constitution on the part of the government. That's my take on it and why I posed the question. The government would like for you to believe that it's a privilege. Don't fall for it.

  16. Uuuh... because some folks don't agree that he's guilty with the evidence revealed to date? To me, everything points to a justified shoot at this point. Not saying it can't turn on a dime with the right piece of evidence. Just saying, I'm not convinced he killed an innocent 12 year old kid in cold blood. I won't be until somebody proves it.

  17. Yeah, I believe that is going over the line from the police side, but I was responding more to the attitude of "this is my right not to show ID" crowd. It's great that we have rights, but that doesn't mean just because we can we always should. If the police are called on me I'm not going to hesitate to show ID. That has nothing to do with whether or not I have the right not to. It has to do with the fact that I want to help and clear up any misunderstanding as soon as possible so we can all move on about our day. I have nothing against the police and, so long as I haven't committed a crime, they have nothing against me. So why not just be polite and cooperative? Just because you don't exercise a right doesn't mean it's not there.
