John, If anything came across as a direct attack, I apologize. It is simply frustration at the lack of common sense and some of the typical and predictable responses withing a certain subset of our culture. Some people want to see conspiracies behind every door. A vast majority of the military are people just like you and me. They are responsible, gun owning people who love their country (which is why they volunteered to serve it). They do not blindly follow illegal orders. We are not thugs practicing to subvert the Constitution, which we swore to uphold, and we are not setting up concentration FEMA camps throughout the US. We are Americans first and foremost. I am, as an American and a Soldier, offended every time I read such blatant nonsense.3 points

How about this. We know who the caniddates are by November which gives the IRS plenty of time to add their names to the front of the federal income tax forms. You check the box for your chosen candidate. So at the same time you file your taxes you vote. After all if you are not filing taxes and paying your fair share you should not be allowed to vote on who gets to use those tax dollars. Dolomite2 points

It wasn't specifically directed at you but if the shoe fits.......a better option would be to scroll down to post #8. Then you'll see what I was preemptively talking about. If you were looking for information on why the Reserves are training in St. Louis, you could've worded it better. The Reserves are soft skill MOS's. About the hardest people they have are the CA and MISO (formerly PsyOps). During the summer, they actively go into the surrounding communities to perform their yearly 2 wk AT. I know this b/c I flew in tonight from CA after my AT time. The Reserves is filled with people who only associate with the Army 2 days a month....hardly the populace assaulting, gun stealing, Constitution burning shock troops the idiot crack pots fear (Coincidentally enough, those same crackpots are almost certain never to have served their country in any military branch ). I would be VERY, VERY surprised if those guys had any sort of weapons on them. That's not how it works. In the Reserves, you draw your weapons for ranges (typically 1-2 times a year) or specific training events. Not 2wk AT's. Probably not a universal rule, but solid enough. Primarily made up of students (hence why AT is almost always done during the summer) and other working professionals, they're normal citizens who desire to serve their country within their work/school schedules or wanted to keep their feet wet after leaving active duty (like me). People like to create drama in their own little make believe worlds and read WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY into normal things.2 points

Well, I've been convinced of it for a while now, but here's proof positive that white men are the sorriest idiots to ever draw breath.1 point

I think it's automatically "racist" to even call a hoodie a hoodie isn't it? I'm sure they are all good little innocent boys and that Nordstrom did something to cause the confrontation....I just wonder if they'll need a special prosecutor to get the charges filed against Nordstrom???1 point

I also have carried weapons in a POV. All of my units are MP's and some are armed to the teeth. We take all weapons to AT. There is also the new 11th Aviation that has AH-64's that are combat arms. They are a USAR unit. Our CS MP companies have had patrol duties on their current mission's. SOCOM just cited one of my units for pulling a SF A-Team out of a bad jam in Afghanistan. They had a high casualty rate (with loss of life) for such a small unit.1 point

No they aren’t. The majority of narcotic related crimes are the crimes the addicts commit against innocent citizens to get their next fix. Home invasion, Armed Robbery, Burglary, kidnapping, Theft, the rapes and assualts that occur during those other offenses and injuries from DUI. If it was the cartels or gang bangers beheading each other why would we care?1 point

If you have a green card then there is no problem at all, you and my wife have went through more background checks than the majority of citizens in this country and imo, have a lot more to lose if the firearm is misused. Anyone arguing against that probably doesn't understand what is at stake for permanent residents, not sure anyone of you all would carry just for fun simply for risking your citizenship process.1 point

So you think that the violence will stop? Are the drugs going to be free? Of course they aren’t. Are the cartels in other countries and the street gangs here going to disappear quietly into the night, or are you saying they will clean up their act and open retail stores and become productive citizens? Young kids have always experimented with pot and alcohol. Most have survived the experimentation process; some have not. How will that work when the experimentation is with methamphetamine and heroin? Once they are addicted where will they get the money to buy their drugs? The “lets legalize drugs†push comes from a bunch of pot heads that make the argument pot is safer than alcohol. That may be true. Are you making the same argument about methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, and oxycodone? Who is going to pay for the treatment and rehab centers? DUI will still be crime only it will go through the roof. Who will pay for the costs associated with that? No one is going to seriously consider the legalization of drugs.1 point

I'm just sick of voting for Republicans thinking I'm going to get a Conservative and instead keep getting undercover Liberal and Progressive Democrats. When the heck are we ever going to get real Conservatives or a Libertarian in these positions?1 point

Tin foil hat? I don't think you know me well enough to make such a judgment. I did not take any sides on the article. I merely wondered what it was all about as I am not former or present military. But by all means, continue on with your ignorant assumptions.1 point

Alexander continues to hold office, as well as Corker and others of their ilk for the simple fact they are Republicans. I guess you gotta take the the good with the bad.1 point

Alexander and Corker voted for Obama's stimulus. That was enough to convince me that they either were ignorant of the Constitution or didn't give a damn about it.1 point

All you need to know is that it's a Woman from New Jersey and that should answer all your questions. Coming from the place where they made it illegal to pump your own gas, it's no surprise she wants to sue.1 point

I didn't include your insult in the quote above (didn't see any need to go there) but the first part of your post is, well, stunning. Based on your profile you are former military and former LEO, who has his HCP and indicates he carries but doesn't want customers (presumably customers his business needs to stay in business) to be able to carry their firearm pursuant to their HCP while patronizing said business. The irony and inconsistency of that is so great I don't think it can be measured; at least not by any conventional means. You certainly have the right to do that under current law but I can't say it makes any sens to me.1 point

Well, I won't support them with my money, time or kind comments, so what else is there? I won't openly bash them or make disparaging remarks but that's as far as I go.1 point
