  1. Another thing that bothers me about it is how hard is it to ask someone to be respectful and turn the music down? If they tell you to pound sand then call the police. If someone came on my property brandishing a gun and making threats/demands they'd be getting a 5.56 injection before it got to where it did. At the same time, if someone came to my door and asked me to turn down the music I would be embarrassed, mortified and apologetic. I just don't get folks. Seems like everyone is to the extreme these days.

  3. Yes, but that guy doesn’t have that excuse, he was raised during a time when personal responsibility was commonplace. You would not have done that, and if you did you would be expected to buy the gun. I can’t count the number of times I have seen someone do something stupid while handling a gun. If you break it you own it.

  4. I do not like being touched at all other than a handshake(even family). It took 6months for me to sleep after getting married because my wife would put her arm on me in the night and I would wake up in a panic. If I paniced when a hot woman(my wife) touched me you can only imagine how I feel when another guy touches me. I love my personal space!!!

  10. Hmmm... 6.8 AR, it seems to me that anyone that doesn't agree with your thinking seems to be a lefty. It must be a small world on your side. Actually, most of my family, friends and co-workers see me as being conservative. If anything I have a Liberatarian bent. I see myself as not being beholding to either party. In fact I think that there isn't a whole lot of difference between the Republicans and the Democrats. In my mind both just want power for themselves and their group and could give a rat's butt what happens to the rest of us. Both have shown a wellingness to trample all over the constitation whenever they feel like it. As for the topic at hand, if you aren't willing to acknowledge the examples I've sited, then there isn't much to talk about, now is there. We'll just have to agree to disagree on that point.

  11. Yeah, I've had that happen a time or two. Luckily the good people far outweigh the bad here. For the most part, people here do what they say. There'll always be a bum or two slip through. Me? I'll do it if I say I will. I don't care if it hair lips the governor. I've had buyers remorse once or twice. Doesn't affect anything on the deal. You say you'll buy it, you buy it unless it's not in the condition the seller claims it to be. I've never had that happen. When I sell I always try to make it out to be in a little less shape than it really is. You just can't make a fellar mad that way. When's the last time you said, "Well I ain't buying this, cuz it's in better shape than you told me it was." Say what you'll do and do what you say people.

  13. I made the leap in logic that he was under the influence of something because it is not rational to handle a loud noise complaint by brandishing a weapon. I'm not saying that these guys handled it the way I would. If I'm drinking I'm not wearing a pistol, but if someone comes over to my house acting like an a-hole and wearing guns I'm putting down the beer, arming up and waiting for the cops to pay him a visit. If he comes back before the cops do (like he did) it'll be looking down a barrel of something superior to what he has.

  14. What drunken redneck are you talking about? From what I read it seems like the guy with a gun was the sober one. I'm glad you are confident in your abilities, but as the saying goes there is always someone better and faster. If this had taken place at my house it would have looked like this; Guy with gun shows up and asks me to turn the music down. I say "no problem sir, have a nice night" Then he goes home. I go inside, turn the music down and call the police, crack another beer and watch the show as the Leo's arrest said neighbor. After all, if I'm drinking my guns are locked up so I wouldn't be able to draw it anyway. Edit: No capitulating, no begging, and nobody dies. Ymmv

  15. Seems like a self correcting situation to me. Idiot who confronts and taunts neighbor while brandishing goes to jail. Other idiot who decides to physically attack someone who is armed is dead. If someone shows up on my property while armed and starts making a scene I'm calling the police, I'm not going to start a firefight in my front yard unless it's the last resort.

  17. There are a lot of things the Germans do to mitigate risk that we don't do though. A big one is hefty fines for following too closely using lines on the road and cameras to calculate safe distance. 85 mph speed limits mean that drivers will be going between 90-95. Driving like an ahole at those speeds is far more deadly than 75. Something they understand in Germany which is why they do it safely there. I don't see Americans being able to balance speed and safety. Not with a generation tommy texters and reality show whore wannabes.

  20. Tim McVeigh comes to mind when I think of right wing extremists and threats. Unfortunately he carried his threat out. There was a lot of the militia talk crap going on after Clinton took office, A LOT OF IT. And all of it from the Right Wing. The Michigan Militia comes to mind from that time period. There have also been militias prosecuted during Obama's term. All of them right wing extremists. Currently there the leader is the Alaskan Peacetime Militia is on trial in Anchorage along with some of his cronies for varies charges. Then there are the Hutaree in the Midwest. There were arrests down in Georgia back last fall that were connected to Right Wingers as well. My point is neither side is "innocent" and should not be protreyed as such.

  21. Well, we do know who started the confrontation here, as the nimrod recorded him self. In FL, we do not know.
    1 point
  22. Nope. I believe that in my heart. You can’t kill someone over a fight you started. You take your azz whipping and learn to either keep your mouth shut, or call the Police and let them deal with it. You don’t get to murder someone when you figure out you have bitten off more than you can chew. And I’m really surprised you don’t agree with me on this.

  25. They could have saved a bunch of testing time and simply placed a quick call to TDOT. Based on the way people drive around here, it's pretty easy to build interstate that can handle 85 MPH. Or 105 MPH, for that matter. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch using Tapatalk 2

  30. Well, see this is where I'm a real jerk. I would have followed him around and when he stopped at another table, I'd have told the person running the booth, hey don't let him touch it, he scratched mine up and didn't care. They'd have to arrest me for harassment because he'd buy the gun he scratched or I'd go out of my way to embarrass him. There's NO call for that. People are ridiculous. No one even knows the definition of "personal responsibility" anymore.

  31. We did an event once, and booked David Allan Coe as the talent. Part way into the show, some redneck hurled a beer bottle, and it smashed on DAC's microphone stand. DAC stopped singing, pointed at the guy, and said "somebody kick his ass". A couple of boys from his entourage ran out from behind the stage and kicked his ass. the show continued with one less redneck in the audience. DAC should have been manning the gun counter that day.

  32. I see it as a mix of a televangalist and a religious zealot... I just imagine him with a streetsign saying "Sheepdog, Dude!" and a loadbearing harness full of Mags on a street corner somewhere....and I like his videos. Watched most of them, philosophy included.

  39. Not teasing. Lots of folks with loaded guns. Just not time to turn loose. The last couple of months is going to be an Obama pound fest of biblical proportions. Virtually ALL the big money in this country wants his ass gone. Those guys usually get their way, especially with the Citizens United ruling.

  40. We have a real good chance of getting him gone. Not close enough to the election to get a real feel yet, but feels good so far. Romney beat him in fundraising. I haven't sent him anything yet, 'cause I think he doesn't need it. When the superpac money kicks in, Obama could wind up losing in a pretty big way.

  42. The call comes in, "All units, assault at Walmart!" Heroic TN-popo is first onscene. He valiantly jumps out of his cruiser and races to the door. What does he see? A trembling Caster, huddled in the corner, pointing to the 75 year old, somewhat confused, door greeter. "HE SAID 'HELLO' AND TOUCHED ME ON THE SHOULDER! ARREST THAT MAN!" TN-popo looks at Caster, then the door greeter, and back at Caster. He then looks for the Candid Camera setup, doesn't see it, shakes his head and walks away. All in fun, mate (the English/Aussie mate, not the manlove mate). Seriously, find me a magistrate that would issue that arrest warrant. I will add, I'm not a big "toucher" either, but it happens.

  45. This is something I am not fond of doing. Unless I cannot take it somewhere that I would have to stop at. A few months ago there was some conflicts going on where I worked at and I carried my BodyGuard 380 with no problems. Nobody knew I did other than me and my wife. After the drama settled down I told my boss that I had. Turns out that he did the same with his LCP. But ultimately I would rather bend the rules a little bit for my safety. I mean after all I am the one who is responsible for my own safety. If you can't carry at work there are alternatives. Depending on your vehicle and locking compartments or concealment. CC is your friend and usually your best kept secret. Just my $.02
