  1. Here I am thinking that bail was only supposed to be enough to make the defendant show up for his day in court? How does a defense fund setup and seems to be controlled by his attorney going to encourage him not to show up for the trial?

  5. Alot of people seem to think it would be "easier" to just show the police their ID. Alot of people think it would be "inconvenient" to stand up for their rights. I am glad that George Washington and Thomas Jefferson and John Adams and James Madison and all their buddies did not concern themselves with what was easy or convenient.

  7. Know what you mean. I joined the service during Vietnam; but I couldn’t legally buy a beer in the states. But enjoy it because there will come a time when you would gladly give up the right to buy a gun, or a beer, to be back there.

  8. Don't confuse the luck of your personal experience with one or two examples of the platform over someone's collective experience with 100's of examples, and deem it "not true." Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn now and then.

  10. Criminals are cowards looking for he easiest score to make a buck. With that said, I doesn't mean they aren't dangerous when cornered. I would assume that anyone who breaks into a home that is likely occupied is prepared to defend themselves from the homeowner if caught, or is planning to assault/kill the homeowner to make he job easier. Either way, if you find yourself confronting multiple intruders in your home its safe to say that deadly force is reasonable. Any DA trying to challenge that in the state of Tennessee is going to have a short career.

  15. Made the show about 11am. Didn't find anything I couldn't live without. Have to agree, David had the best display. Lots of reloading stuff. Just didn't need anything today. Show/parking, still not worth $13. Absolutely unbelievable we can't get a decent size show in this area.

  18. I've always open carried a pistol, but whipped out a knife for the actual dispatching of the baddie. That last look of surprise is just priceless. Successful defense has always been, "well judge, I was using the least force possible -- I could have shot him ya know!" - OS (y'all believe me, right?)

  19. I don't think anybody is saying the police shouldn't respond, and shouldn't have approached and said hello... even asking for ID isn't wrong... The issue is once politely told no, seeing that no obvious crime was being committed, they didn't just leave... they pulled the guy away from his friends and his meal to have a "talk" with him alone, and then tried to talk the restaurant manager into kicking these folks out. The first part is fine, the second isn't. Who can argue with that?

  21. Bottom line, you never know how you're going to react in a given situation until that situation actually transpires. Training helps, but only to an extent. It's nice to think, and it sounds really macho to say, "The first thing the perp will hear is the slide racking back as I jack a round into the chamber - and the last thing they'll hear is my gun going off!" but indeed, the reality may very well be that the first thing they'll hear is you sh!tting yourself or tripping over a piece of furniture that panic/nerves suddenly caused you to forget was there, even though you've been stepping around it successfully for years. Shout a warning? Hell no! My knees'll be knocking and my heart hammering so loudly that the bad guy(s) will probably hear me long before my vocal chords loosen up enough to whisper, let alone shout! You know, we can come on these public forums or sit in a coffee shop or around a campfire and posture and postulate about what bad@sses we are until the cows come home. And we all like to think we'll have no problem protecting our homes and families - and that's a good thing - it helps bolster our fragile egos and adds to our peace of mind. But again, the bottom line is that until one actually finds themselves in a given situation, they really have no idea how they're going to react or what course of action they will take. And to claim otherwise is, quite simply, unmitigated macho bullcrap, because you're gonna' do same thing that I'll do and the only difference is that I'm honest enough to admit that I'll probably step in mine! And if it somehow makes me less of a man to admit that, then fine - I'm not much of a man - but you know what? At the end of the day, I can still look in a mirror... And the reflection looking back is an honest one.

  24. It could and probably does happen, more often than we all like to admit... but they don't have a right to force somebody to identify themselves just because they want to know... The real question is, if you REALLY think that your local police department would make stuff up just to lock somebody up who isn't breaking the law, what are you doing to fix that problem? Because they don't loose their jobs when they do stuff like that, your taxes go up to pay for the lawsuit the city looses... The increases in insurance fees, or in the case of self insured cities and counties payouts are a matter of public record... go down and ask to see the budget sometime for your local PD, and wait for you eyes to bug out in how much we the tax payers are paying for that line item.

  25. I remember when my son was a toddler my brother came home after working undercover for 36 hours straight and collapsed in the recliner at our parents house. He had pulled three guns out and laid them on the table beside him just to get comfortable and collapsed into a coma. My son came home from pre-school and walked into the living room , saw the guns and woke him up. " You need to put your guns up, I might have a friend coming over." Yes kids can be taught, they should be taught even if you don't have guns as odds are they will at some point be in a house that has them.

  28. ID from the OCers had nothing to do with the speed of resolution of this situation. "If you show me your ID it will speed this up and we can both be on our way." "If you let me search your car it will speed this up and we can both be on our way." Trading our rights so we are not inconvenienced. .

  30. I also hear that Tennessee is the "laughing stock of the country" because we are supposedly one of the states with lax gun control, but the only ones really saying that are the "enlightened" progressives, so it really doesn't mean anything. Usually, the ones who love to slam Palin hate her because she has strong conservative values. Says more about them than it does about her.

  35. The P938/238 should not suffer the same gremlins as a micro 1911. It has a lot of features of a 1911 but is not a 1911. The barrel locks up and comes in and out of battery totally different. The extractor is the same but the ejector is not. So, like many 1911s from the factory you could have extractor issues. They are either too tight, too loose, the hook to breach face distance is not correct or the firing pin stop is not fit right and allows the extractor to turn in the tunnel. The failure in Rob's video is almost certainly an extractor issue. I just can't see why the factories allow so many guns to come out like this, but they do. Notice the angle of the barrel in the sig verses the 1911 when out of battery. (I did not have a micro 1911 in the shop just a 4") Look at how the different system allows for the barrel to sit lower in the frame and where the rounds are in comparison. Plus a smaller round sits higher in the magazine too. But look at how the bottom of the chamber in the sig is actually below the frame rails and the 45 is above. Look at how far the 45 has to go and the angle it has to negotiate.

  36. Everything I've read and every instructor I've ever listened to say the same thing. It's not bashing or stating opinion to say some types of guns are better for certain purposes and it's not an unfair blanket statement about any single type/brand. It's based on scientific observation and I believe it. I had the privilege of attending one of Aaron Roberts' classes and he gave me a hard time about bringing my SA/DA CZ-P-01, instead of a striker-fired pistol. Initially I was offended...CZs are damn good guns and mine ran perfect all 3 days (~1800 rounds). However, my first shot from a ready position in DA was CONSISTENTLY less accurate than from the same position in SA...just like he said. I believe that if you see consistant patterns over thousands of experiences, you'd be crazy not to use/share that info.
