  1. I also hear that Tennessee is the "laughing stock of the country" because we are supposedly one of the states with lax gun control, but the only ones really saying that are the "enlightened" progressives, so it really doesn't mean anything. Usually, the ones who love to slam Palin hate her because she has strong conservative values. Says more about them than it does about her.

  2. Are these Americans? What's the problem with them having a place to practice their religion?

  3. Much as we like to tout our 2nd amendment freedoms, it's quite telling to see some folks so willing to trample the 1st amendment. If due process wasn't followed, then that should be addressed.

  4. Muslims are not different than Christians. Most are peaceful people, but a certain element of the religion has corrupted its holy scripture and use it to justify hate. In case people have missed it, people have done the same thing with Christianity. What some people here are doing would be like saying that the Aryan Nations and their Church of Jesus Christ-Christian or Westboro Baptist Church are representative of all Christians in the world and should be discriminated against as such.

  6. Okay, it's easy to type what we'd all do when we are safe and sound and can think our responses through to conclusion, BUT...If their backs are to you, you have the element of surprise. I would say hunker down and take aim. Make yourself small and difficult to hit. Then, patience. If you have aim on them and are poised at the ready, you have the initiative. Patience and focus.

  7. Normally all the weird stuff comes out of California. But I think the reason why something like this doesn't happen there is because of all the vegetarians in California. No self repspecting vegetarians would be caught eating meat. Dolomite

  9. I agree. Palin was the victim of a concerted well choreographed media assault. She still stands. That says a lot about her imho. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2

  10. The Old Testament is rife with exhortations to kill non-believers, too. Islam still needs about 600 years to mellow out the radical rough edges like Christianity did, and it probably will. - OS

  11. I am not an attorney, but I am a former LEO (Kentucky and Florida), so take this for a grain of salt. It has been my understanding that you are only allowed to use deadly force to prevent the immanent use of deadly force against you or another or to prevent a forcible felony such as rape or kidnapping. Generally, if someone has made unlawful entry into your home, you have prima facie evidence that the person is there to do you harm (especially in your scenario where there are multiple individuals who are armed). Unless that state has a statutory duty to retreat, you are allowed to claim self defense if you use deadly force against them. With that said, I would not engage an individual without challenging them to halt. This would give them an opportunity to identify themselves if they happened to be a family member (one good reason not to sneak up and shoot someone in the back). It would also give them a chance to comply so you could hold them for police, or they might flee, thus saving you a TON of stress and grief for shooting someone (just think about poor old George Zimmerman). My advice is to never use deadly force unless there is truly no other option. Obviously, if you were to challenge them, it would be wise to take up a defensive position of concealment and cover in case they did wheel around and try to take a shot at you. I also like to keep a very bright flashlight next to my handgun since a little blinding light never hurts to gain a momentary advantage. As an aside, this myth that you can never shoot someone in the back is just that: a myth. If the suspect is getting ready to cause grievous bodily harm to another and the only shot you have is to shoot them in the back, then so be it. As long as the shooting was legally justified, it doesn't matter how you engage the target, how many times you shoot them, or whether they were facing you or not. The problem here is that so many people unquestionably buy into this myth (including LEOs) that you do face a tougher challenge in proving a justifiable use of deadly force. Just one more reason to make sure you have no other options before pulling that trigger.

  12. So, since I'm over 45 I no longer have the right to keep and bear arms? We do have a "formal" state militia that answers to the Military Department of Tennessee; the Tennessee State Guard which operates, in general, under U.S. Army guidelines, ranks, etc. Unfortunately, there is no telling what a future supreme court could decide as it all depends on who is appointed to the court - we've got justices now who think the U.S. Constitution is out of date and out of touch and that the court should make decisions based on "world" laws and court decisions.

  21. Unless I'm misinformed, a police office has the right to ask for ID and while you have the right to not give it, they then have the right to detain you (for up to 72 hours I think) until they DO know who you are and I don't believe they need probably cause of anything other than wanting to identify who you are - if I've got that wrong then someone please correct me. My point here is that regardless of the "open carry" issue, I see little to no benefit in refusing to supply your ID when asked by a LEO; unless of course your purpose is to create an incident (and one you are likely to lose).

  22. That isn't what being free is about. It's one thing if it was an environmental/code/traffic issue but folks are against this because they disagree with their religion. I don't care if it's a church or a supremacist group, folks have a right to their beliefs and shouldn't be blocked in practicing it. If you would be outraged by some commie/liberal/atheist group blocking the construction of a Baptist church then you should be outraged by this. It's just wrong.

  23. Under tn state law, if somebody forcibly enters your house, it is assumed you have a reasonable fear of death or serious injury. You are under no obligation to attempt to offer surrender to a home intruder under tn law. Even more importantly no DA is going to file charges against a home owner who shoots two men who broke into your home and are armed in the middle of the night. Further there is some really bad advice... First there is no such thing as a fair gun fight, there are people who fight fair, and winners. If somebody comes into your home armed, they're not there to bake you cookies... Use every tactical advantage they offer you, if that means exploiting their mistake of turning their backs to you... Take it. Once they're aware of you and your location, you have reduced your tactical advantage... Much better to be arrested and go to trail, than to be dead and God knows what they do to the rest of your family. Nobody here will call you a coward for shooting an armed intruder in the back.

  24. A lot of the stories seem to fuel the fire of aluminum foil hats and/or rebellious warmongering. While I'm all for it [and have added to said fire on occasion], I will be the first to admit this is not really the place for it.

  25. I just picked up the 9mm Shield and am very satisfied with the size, fit and finish. The Shield shoots great as I fired about 50 rd without any problems. The only issue I found is that the 7 rd Magazine when full is very hard to seat in the pistol, but hopefully the spring will compress a little and resolve that issue. Here are some pic's comparing the size with the Kahr E9.

  30. The method of this being blocked is far from the reason. I remember when this all started and the interviews with area folks on the news. They don't want it built because its a mosque. There is no "reading between the lines" here; the aim of the opponents is very overt. If this was a super-church people wouldn't care. That just doesn't seem right to me. Not in this country.

  31. Now lets see how much RP wants to defeat O. If he runs as a 3rd pary candidate he will split the vote again and hand O a 2nd term. Anyone who really wants to see O defeated must now vote for Romney because he is the only one with a chance to beat him. I wish that there was a better choice who also had a chance to win but there's not so Romney will get my vote..

  34. As far as the Founders, it is clear they acknowledged a Higher Power, but were careful not to define it as Christianity; indeed, a number of the most prominent ones, including Jefferson, were clearly Deists. Had they wanted the Constitution to be based on Christianity, they would have used the word. However, your posts fall well beyond an examination and/or debate of this nature to merely pure Christian evangelism; apparently the TGO rule against proselytizing has fallen by the wayside, but it's a big Web -- with many more appropriate places to Bible thump. - OS

  35. You realize, the word "God" was not added to the Pledge until 1952, right? Pledge itself wasn't written until over 100 years after the Declaration of Independence, btw. Also, "In God We Trust" was not added to currency until 1957, mostly as part of the pep rally against the "Godless Russian Commies". Point is, neither had anything to do with the Founders, and indeed, I wonder if they would have supported either idea. - OS

  44. i have several progessave presses i sell several hundred presses a year i teach several people each month how to reload.if someone is getting into reloading for speed alone thats the wrong reason .to realy understand reloading you have to load on a single stage .if you are loading rifle ammo you can load it faster on a single stage loading machine gun fodder is fine on a progressave but i think you load better ammo on a single stage press .my typeing skills are not too good but i have most progressave presses from a lee 100 to a camdex and ammo load with all the dillons in between if you want to try them just ask i have found with most progressave presses it takes to long to change cal. and primers sizes so if you are not loading several 100 rounds i can load them on my lyman before you can get set up if you want to load fast get a camdex comes set up for 1 size round will load 6000 rounds an hour thats work i reload for fun
