  3. The only law I’m aware of that has to do with drawing a weapon is aggravated assault. I’m not aware of any law that says I can’t have a weapon in my hand. We would find out because if it escalates to the point of me unholstering a weapon, whether I point it or threaten anyone with it or not, I’m calling the Police and waiting for them to arrive. Martin was being chased by a man with a gun, we don’t know if he saw it or not, but short of someone shooting at you, you just don’t get much more justified than that. It’s a little tough to make a justification argument in a case where the unarmed victim was shot to death and the perp is on trial for murder.

  4. I was not aware you could draw your weapon merely because someone was following you.

  5. Done did. Nothing dies without a need around me. It was a danger to several people and pets, I'm tanning the hide for use in knife sheaths, the rattles will go on a knife sheath, and me and my brother in law filleted and grilled it.

  6. Exactly. And that’s what’s driving my opinion. The difference is if it was you or I a gun would have been in our hand and Zimmerman would have backed away or went for his gun and got shot. Martin used the only thing he had available to him; and it cost him his life.

  8. I agree! I don't believe we will ever know the facts of this incident. At this point, I don't have an opinion of whether or not Zimmerman is guilty. I do know that if I were walking around at night, and a mall ninja type fella kept following me, there'd soon be a confrontation. I expect everyone here feels pretty much the same way.

  10. Zimmerman was arrested and charged with “resisting officer with violence†and “battery of law enforcement officer.†both charges were third-degree felonies. The charges were reduced to “resisting officer without violence†and then waived when he entered an alcohol education program. Zimmerman’s girlfriend got an order of protection alleging Domestic Violence. Domestic violence, felony battery, alcohol treatment, and he had a carry permit. Could that be because his Father was a retired Judge? Wouldn’t trace amounts of THC seems to pale in comparison if we are looking for factors that would have led to a violent encounter?

  13. Sorry, but this is going to make me sound like a cop basher. The only role of law enforcement is just that - enforcing the law. Anything else subjects them, and rightly so, to harsh scrutiny as WE are the ones who pay their salaries. They don't get to make laws on the spot to feed their ego. They don't get to abuse citizens who have done nothing wrong. They don't get to stomp on the God-given, constitutional rights of the law-abiding citizen, though it seems many of them try to do just that. There are more videos of this kind of thing on the interwebz than there should be. Actually, there should be NONE. We EXPECT them to act honorably and treat law-abiding citizens with respect, and we should not be expected to give them a medal when they do. You give medals and commendations for going ABOVE AND BEYOND the call of duty, NOT doing what is expected. If the job is THAT hard, then they need to find other lines of work. If I'm out of line with those comments, then I'm sorry, but that just how I see it.

  17. Voting is like picking your preference on how you want to be executed. One choice may be more painful than the other, but ultimately have the same result. The only way to tame the two party beast is for Americans to reject the limited choices they have and reelect NO ONE until such time that our elected officials start serving the people and not their own interest. This will never happen because our ruling class knows that Americans are fickle and easily divided over silly issues and can be polarized by them by a few well placed stories in the media. We have ourselves to blame for the sh*t sandwich we're chowing down on right now because we have the power to overthrow our current government every time we vote. If Romney wins in November we'd better be prepared to fire him for a democrat in four years.

  19. The CZ 75 (pre B models )does not drop free. The original 1911 mags did not drop free. Browning Hi Power mags did not drop free. The original glock mags were not drop free. Why? They were built as combat guns intended to be worn on the belt in harsh conditions where the accidental loss of the loaded magazine in the pistol was a bigger concern than whether the mag would fall out of the gun when it was empty while reloading. Pistols in combat are SECONDARY weapons and as such they will be used little if ever. Needing to get one reloaded in under a second is just not something most soldiers could even do nor would there be many realistic situations where that would be needed. Lets be honest. In a battlefield situation a super fast pistol reload is rarely going to be the deciding factor on whether you live or die. Especially if you actually use cover and reload behind it. And in a civilian self defense situation you also want to be moving to cover if there is any available. If you have cover and need to reload from slide lock then whether the mag falls free of the gun or whether it needs to be stripped out is a moot point. If you "strip " the mag from the gun as your hand goes from gun to mag pouch then it really does not matter anyways and the time difference is literally 10ths of a second. If your "Plan A" is to stand flat footed and slug it out with the bad guys like a game of Rock'em Sock'em Robots with bullets until your gun runs dry and then do a smokin' fast reload like in an IPSC match...then yeah, I guess a drop free mag is important. But if you carry a hi cap pistol and actually hit what you aim at the odds of needing to reload from slidelock in the first place is just about zero. Do more Force on Force and less match shooting and you'll see there is a big difference between Time and Timing. Standing in the open doing a speed reload may yield a faster time. Moving to cover and then reloading will be more likely to keep you alive.

  20. Yes. If the situation was reversed, I would vote for Paul. As with Romney, there are things I like about Paul, and things that I don't like. Up against Obama, I will vote for whoever is the Republican nominee. I know it sounds bad, but our main focus this election has to be to vote Obama out, and we need an electable candidate to do that. Ron Paul is not electable to a national office.
    1 point
  21. Paul has no hope. it is a fantasy just about unequaled to think he can pull this out. Unless you want Obama again everyone needs to get behind Romney. Right or wrong he is the only option.

  22. This is typical republican party operation. If it's not going the establishement’s way, they will change the rules, delay the vote, disallow motions, basically whatever it takes to keep "their" candidate in place. And this is the way they do it on the state and even on the county level. It's a good ole boys club that needs to be demolished. They don't take to outsiders reading the rule book then expecting it to be followed and rasing parliamentary procedures when it's not.

  24. I'm sure more evidence will come out as the trial progresses but as it stands right now it seems pretty straight forward. Based on what we know so far: Zimmerman did not commit any crime leading up to the confrontation. Just because he was following the kid does not mean he deserves to have his head bashed into a sidewalk. Zimmerman has no offensive wounds on his body. He appears to be the one taking the beating, not giving. I'm pretty confident Zimmerman will walk.

  25. As I stated before, if it has anything to do with animals as entertainment, there's a good chance it should be banned. This is especially true for horse racing, dog racing, walking horses, zoos, circuses, Sea World, circuses, etc. And while we're at it, we need to implement ultra-strict rules for the breeding of animals, especially cats and dogs. Little pisses me off more than the abuse of animals, including keeping them in captivity for our own selfish entertainment. In the end, this is only my opinion, and I wouldn't expect much to change because of it.

  27. I've been battling stones for a few years now. First time I ever got one I thought that I was dying. I hate going to see a Dr. but when I got that first one I drove myself to the ER. Now I know what it is and I don't panic I just prepare. When I feel one coming on and take this as you want, I start drinking lots of beer, as much as I can really. I usually go for Budweiser 55 because it has a low alcohol content so I can drink more of that than normal beer. Ingesting that much liquid and with the alcohol being a diuretic you will have a stronger and more frequent stream which can help push the stone out, the anesthetic effect of the alcohol doesn't hurt either. If you absolutely can't stand the pain you can always drink more as well, after all that couldn't be as bad for you as the morphine they give you in the hospital. The other thing that I've found that helps me sometimes is riding a dirtbike, it seems to jar everything around and can knock a lodged stone loose, if you don't have a dirtbike maybe try running or jumping rope, neither of which sounds appealing when all you really want to do is lay in the fetal position and scream. Take my advice as you want, I'm no doctor, just a guy that suffers from kidney stones. Oh yeah I've tried the olive oil and lemon juice thing as well, usually a shot glass full 50/50, seemed like maybe it helped a little. Best of luck, I feel your pain.

  28. Is that what happened? Peaceful journey? Zimmerman didn't know it was a "black kid" until almost the end. He told police dispatch that he wasn't sure, so any presumption of planned stalking of Martin based on his race is flawed. He got out of truck to see where Martin had disappeared to and see what the location was by looking at street signs to inform police dispatch. This has been established before for those who are behind on story details. Walking through yards and close to buildings? Again, walking through yards and close to buildings? Accosted? Once again, Martin was acting suspiciously, he fit the description of suspect(s) of recent robberies/burglaries in the neighborhood. Zimmerman was keeping him under surveillance, not stalking orvaccosting him. This is completely opposite of what all testimony and evidence indicates thus far.

  30. I guess I will play devil's advocate a little. I used to work in the TWH industry, and I can honestly that this problem is not as wide spread as the media and the humane society would have you to believe. Does it happen? Obviously, but if it were as much of a problem as people think it is, why wouldn't they show a video of more than just this one dude? I am making no excuses for it, I certainly am not condoning the practices, and I am not saying he is the only one doing it. However, there are probably hundreds of thousands of people involved in this industry, and there is a very small minority of people doing this stuff. They should be shut down and prosecuted, but to call for the demise of the entire industry is a little ridiculous. I will just comment on a few things in the video, and again, I am not defending what you see. I would like to point out a few things though. They talk about putting caustic chemicals on the legs and wrapping in plastic; however, you can also put stuff on there like bengay and wrap the leg. Just because you see a horse with their leg wrapped, it does not mean they are being abused. Secondly, they claim they are soring these horses so when the chains hit their legs, it will hurt and cause them to step high. That is partially true, but in the video, they show a horse standing there while they put the chains on. If that horse were sored to the point that it hurt for the chains to touch his leg, do you really think he would just calmly stand there for them to put the chains on? The natural gait of the horse is exaggerated by the weight of the large pad and the chains. On a horse that has not been sored, the only purpose of the increased weight is to cause them to jerk their foot up, and throw it further out in front. These horses wearing the chains and pads are no different than ladies (or maybe some of you) wearing large platform shoes and ankle bracelets. There is a limit to the amount of weight the horse can show with, and the chain weights are like 5-10oz. They are not putting log chains on them or anything. Thirdly, people are talking about the money to be had. Really, there is little money to be gained. For most people, these horses are hobbies and traditions. With that said, a sored horse is worth absolutely nothing when it comes to showing. If these people are really out for the money like people say they are, that is even more reason why they would not sore a horse. Even horses that have been sored in the past and have healed scars, they are not permitted to show. That horse is now no more than an expensive pet. Granted, there are not inspectors at ever single show, but you can bet your ass they will be at the high profile shows that mean anything as far as money goes. Again, I am not defending the actions seen in the video, and I am sure someone will flame me for siding with the owners and trainers. I do not own walking horses, nor are there any owners or trainers in my family. I just want people to know that there are plenty of good people in the industry who do properly care for their animals. Most people in the industry are all about prosecuting those who are abusing animals, but I am also not about jumping on a slippery slope to condemn the entire industry. I have been and will continue to go to the horse shows; however, I do admit that I enjoy the flat shod classes the most. If you don't even understand what that means, I would encourage you to learn a little more about the TWH before you are ready to do away with it all.

  33. Last I read there were approx 900,000 LEO's in the U.S. considering local, state, and federal levels. There are always going to be bad people or people who make stupid decisions no mater what profession. Even if we were to see 100 cops being stupid or beating somebody that is not even close to 1% of the total. So believe what you want about anybody in general your opinion is your own to have. I don't really see any cop bashing but only showing the small fraction of wrong doings in the media gets old quick! But showing a video of a cop doing his job and being polite wouldn't bring viewers so it won't be shown on tv. One of the officers was found not guilty. I believe he was the first of four to be tried in court. They were all terminated from what I read from another story.

  35. See my post above. It's hard to post videos of the good things because the media doesn't care about that, and rarely do stories on it. Also, the average citizen rarely posts videos online about positive interactions with LE. They don't do this because the positive stuff won't create a "stir,' and won't get a lot of view clicks on Youtube. Having seen your posts in the past, you view on LE is quite clear. You don't like LE, and you mostly post about the bad stuff. There are videos out there about the good things, but they are few and far between due to the reasons stated above.
    1 point
  36. Near daily examples? That is completely laughable. Remember, only the bad stuff gets reported by the media, and posted on the gun boards (sadly, TGO is seeing more and more of this constant cop-bashing). Most people could care less about the good stuff police do everyday. It is a thankless job. Are there bad cops out there? Yes. Just like there bad doctors, bad lawyers, and even bad gun owners. I bet you get upset when the media uses the actions a bad gun owner to portray all guns and gun owners as bad, but you seem to want to do the same thing when it comes to law enforcement. It's called hypocrisy.
    1 point
  37. You have to remember that it is a cop-bashers job to only post the negative actions or a few in law enforcement, and to not acknowledge the good deeds that the rest of them do everyday. Whether it is in our area or not, they use whatever they can find in an attempt to make all LE look bad.
