  1. Besides carrying a good high capacity handgun with spare mags, maybe it might be a good idea to buy a big redneck SUV or 4x4 truck with big mudder tires. I know they drink some gas but they are superior to a little compacts when things have to be moved out of the way or simply run over.

  2. Let me ask this question. If I park my car on someone's property and it is broken into, is it my car or the property owner's? My car is my property. If a business owner is not going to take responsibility for my vehicles being vandalized on their property then they do not have grounds to restrict me from keeping my property locked in my property

  3. So I know I'm not the only one ferreting away ammo for SHTF. When we store this particular ammo we know it may not see the light of day for many moons. For that we all agree military steel ammo cans are best. Air tight and built like a tank. BUT, how do we store them inside? Well, for ammo I KNOW I am going to shoot in the near future I just dump it in there. THe exception being my precision loads and those go in plastic ammo boxes to prevent damage. Wouldn't we all love to keep all our ammo in plastic containers but they don't fit well in ammo cans. Not efficient use of space. Well, I was pondering this as I cast some 158g RN for .38 today. I thought of our beloved Comm-Block surplus ammo. Much of it is stored in small quantities, wrapped in brown paper. BRILLIANT! WTSHTF we don't want to have loose ammo in cans. If you have to barter, do you really wanna grab a handful or ziplock bag? No. So I came up with this idea today for .38 special. It isn't anything special [Ha! pun intended] but it works perfect! You'll need a paper lunch sack, some scrap cardboard, masking tape, scissors and 56 rounds of .38 SPL. Cut two squares of cardboard that fit tight in the bag. Using one of the squares as a guide, cut off the top of the bag a piece the same size as the squares to use a divider. Place one of the squares in the bottom of the bag and then lay two rows of 14 rounds, tightly laced. Like so: Using the part of the bag you cut off, lay it on top of the rounds and lay two more layers of ammo. Then top it off with the other piece of cardboard. Taking care like wrapping a Christmas present, fold the bag over itself tightly and tape it shut. Write your info on the tape in ink and viola! A perfect dispensary pack of .38 ammo. I dunno how this is going to work out with 9x19, .45acp ECT but I'll let you know when I try. They almost have the look of old surplus ammo, huh? They sure fit snug in the can. Just what I was wanting. WooHoo! ....yes I DO have a lot of time to ponder silly things.

  4. I had the Walmart "Greeter" stop me going into the 41 A store and told me I had to "cover up" my weapon". That was the first and last time I open carried. To me it's no big deal and not worth the hassle.

  5. Obviously you have an incredible thing for Paul, as evidenced by the shear volume of threads you start on the subject, but using Rachel Madow as a source is not the bets way to make an argument.

  6. Find out what the ants are after and fix it. My in-laws have regular trouble with ants in their kitchen. It might have something to do with the stack of dirty dishes and sticky counter-tops... I spray around my house twice a year with Ortho Home Defense Max. The small-ish bottle of concentrate is enough for one year. http://www.orthohomedefense.com/smg/templates/index.jsp?pageUrl=homedefenseHomePagePh2 I also use AMDRO ant killer on mounds in the yard. Sprinkle it on the mound, water it in... no more ants. http://www.baitisbetter.com/

  8. Basically: Piston guns do not direct carbon back into the receiver, bolt, and carrier. Heat buildup is lessened as hot gasses do not get forced into moving parts. DI guns are more accurate due to fewer moving parts, lower recoiling mass, and no movement along the barrel. For your purposes, a piston setup is more hype than reality. You will likely never burn through 500rds in five minutes, melt handguards, or need to shoot a couple of thousand rounds without being able to clean your rifle.

  9. It's a shame that people are using that as an excuse. It makes you really wonder if they think it will solve anything. Also, if certain people didn't act like that, maybe Zimmerman wouldn't have looked at martin like that in the first place. Let's be real here people, when you act like a thug, you're going to get looked at like you're a thug.

  10. If it was a "farmer's bundle" most likely it is chrome tanned latigo leather. What you need is vegetable tanned full-grain leather. I agree with gregintenn on using saddle stitching. I used that method exclusively until my little business got busy enough to justify buying a machine. Even though the machine makes things a lot easier, a saddle stitch is a better way to go than a lockstitch. Also, I use a Dremel tool with a sanding drum attachment to do the edges. Then you can dampen the edges with water, buff them with some canvas or denim, and then coat them with edge paint. If you think you'll do very many of these, go ahead and drop the money on a basic leather crafting kit from Tandy: http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/en-usd/home/55510-00.aspx Here's a holster and mag carrier I made for my Walther PPS.

  11. I love the carving. My next, major 'step' is to start trying to do a bit of tooling.

  13. I've hated BofA since 1976. When my mother passed away, she had a checking account with them, me as a cosigner. It had an appreciable amount of money in it, which I promptly withdrew. A few years back, they were opening accounts and making loans to lillegals without SSN's. Hope they crash and burn.

  14. I disagree. I'm thinking your property rights end at my car door. A private property holder does not have the right to inspect the contents of my vehicle. The police do, after establishing probable cause. If that's not clear in Tennessee Law, we've got other problems, and this point ought to be made clear before we move forward on this bill.
