The someone who replaces the safety is Steve Young. He also does a helluvan action job (I can highly recommend). He will, if you like, get a factory new carbine or rifle, get it running beautifully, replace the safety (and the plastic mag plug) and ship it to your ffl. I'm in Mooresburg now - about 12 miles west of Rogersville. If you want to head over this way you can try one of Steves' '92's - a stainless carbine (.357/38). I've had this one for 6 or 8 years. Never had any issues at all. PM me if you want to try it out, see if Steve's work suits you.

Only serious drinkers are going to be trading for alcohol so you'd best stick with something most serious drinkers like. This is Tennessee, so that's whiskey... Jack Daniels would be my choice to stock. All non-liquor drinkers, which is a LOT of people, would be more interested in trading for rubbing alcohol. It's far more cost effective as a barter item. As you stock up on liquids, add a few bottles of unscented Clorox. It's a great water purifier and if public water is off, it would be in far higher demand than whiskey or rubbing alcohol.

Awesome! I have long tried to explain that to parents, most of whom are too afraid for their little darlin' to listen. Teach them young, test them, and let them shoot it under supervision, it works. The worst thing a parent can do is panic or freak out, which creates a burning curiosity inside the child, who will then wait for an opportunity to investigate...

Get an M39 Mosin. Should be able to find a nice for under 300.00. These are heads and tails above a 91/30 in quality and fantastic shooters. Will also appreciate in value as time goes on more than a 91/30. Also look at the Swedish M96 Mauser in 6.5x55 or any of the Swiss rifles. The quality, fit and finish as well as the accuracy of their rifles are far and above any of the other more common mil-surps.

I gave a brief interview this afternoon on the Memphis Fox station about this case, it'll be on tonight at 10. We talked about deadly force laws and what might happen in this situation under Tennessee law. I think dude will get indicted. Like someone said, he accosted the kid, kid fought back, dude shot him. That's just not self defense. You can't seek the threat out then claim you were in fear for your life.
