  1. What you get for what you pay, simple as that. Generally excellent functionality, good steel, good grinds, etc. Sometimes a bit of a cosmetic flaw on blade or handle, but these are to be used, not simply collected. Main criticism is that some of the models are quite emulative of some American models, like the SRM 710 and Sebenza, some of the Navy models and Spyderco ones, etc. On the other hand, some of these PRC companies are the ones that are making or have made the Chinese renditions FOR Spyderco, Buck, Kershaw, etc etc. to being with -- they're just now starting to be recognized outside of China under their own names. Other carp is the "buy American or you're not a patriot" argument, but to me that just shows a rather naive world political and economic view. So in short, in a market like knives, where it's often said you only get what you pay for, many/most of these various models far and away out pace that adage. Price is starting to creep on these a bit as more folks discover them, and some of the companies are apparently going to deliver more options for higher end steel than 8CR13MOV and 440c too (although both of those are more than serviceable blade materials), maybe some fixed blades and whatnot, so I expect them to grow in the market. - OS

  2. The trooper claimed I was doing 95mph, but I still thought I had a chance of being able to talk my way out of it... until he looked in my back seat.

  3. As others have said, my car is my personal, private property. My gun is my personal, private property. As a business owner or even employer, you have every right to tell me to get my car off of your property. You should not, however, legally be able to control what legally owned, private property (gun, knife, fishing lure or hammer) I can store inside my legally owned, private property (car) regardless of where my legally owned private property (car) is parked. Now, if you want to make a rule that I can't drive or park my car on your property you have the right to do so and these bills would not change that. If you want to make a rule that I cannot remove my gun, knife, fishing lure or hammer from the confines of my private property (car) while my car is on your property then you have the right to do so and these bills would not change that. I do NOT, however, believe that you or anyone else should have the right to infringe on MY private property rights by telling me that I can't, as someone else put it, store my private property inside my private property. Again, as someone previously stated, real estate is not the only type of private property and real estate property rights are not the only kind of private property rights. This bill does not force any personal beliefs on others. This bill simply prohibits employers and business owners (who seem to think that THEIR private property rights are the only ones that matter) from infringing on the private property rights of their employees and others. Personally, I think the bills should be broadened to simply say that an employer's/business owner's business has no right to question, search or prohibit what is stored inside a private vehicle - with no, specific mention of firearms - but the bills are what they are.

  4. I kinda agree with Jonnin, here. Then, again, I don't have kids. Growing up, however, I knew where my dad's guns were, where the ammo was and how to load them. I knew about the loaded .357 in his sock drawer. I also knew what those guns would do and never played with them. To the OP, maybe a good way to handle the situation for the future would be to buy your dad a good holster or (since he might want to be a little more 'subtle' around the house, especially at family gatherings) even a concealed carry 'fanny pack'. You could tell him that you appreciate his being willing to lock up his firearm while the kids were around and that the holster/fanny pack is a 'thank you' gift that he can use at future gatherings. In fact, you could encourage him to use it all the time so he has his firearm at hand when he is at home rather than on a shelf where he might not be able to get to it in an emergency.

  5. That was my only critism of Zimmerman, that he went beyond what a private citizen should do and follow him when told not to but I admit I was fooled by media hype at the first. What we learn after some time huh? I knew the media has agenda's and didn't trust them "much", now I can't trust anything they report at all. The media are bigger liars than politicians and alot more dangerous.

  6. Yeah, he was out of breath from chasing after him. Why would a responsible permit holder chase someone that has committed no crime? Answer: mall ninja. At 2:09, you can hear a car door open and an alarm begins that is undoubtedly the “door open, keys in ignition†warning on Zimmerman’s truck. At 2:13, you can clearly hear the car door slamming shut, and the alarm stops. At 2:17, Zimmerman’s voice wobbles and he starts breathing heavily into the phone, indicating that he has started running. At 2:22, without any prompting other than the aforementioned noises and breathing, the dispatcher asks “Are you following him?†to which Zimmerman responds, “Yeah.†At 2:26, the dispatcher says, “Okay, we don’t need you to do that,†to which Zimmerman responds, “Okay.â€

  8. A senior citzen drove his brand new Corvette convertible out of the dealership. Taking off down the road, he floored it to 80 mph, enjoying the wind blowing through what little gray hair he had left. "Amazing" he thought as he flew down I-40, pushing the pedal even more. Looking in his rear view mirror, he saw a state trooper behind him, lights flashing and siren blaring. He floors it to 100 mph, then 110, then 120. Suddenly he thinks "What in the heck am I doing, I'm too old for this." So he pulls over to wait for the troopers arrival. Pulling in behind him, the trooper walks up to the Corvette, looks at his watch, and says sir my shift ends in 30 minutes. Today is Friday. If you can give me a good reason for speeding that I have never heard before. I'll let you go. The old gentleman paused. Then he said, " years ago my wife ran off with a state trooper. And I thought that you were bring her back. "Have a good day sir" replied the trooper.

  9. It doesn't matter that he made the comment. Other people are making it. I have a lot of problems with Obama. His vacations aren't one of them. Didn't have a problem with W's vacations either. If I was doing that job, I would need time to decompress too.

  11. A large kids plastic baseball bat works awesome. My son stands on the deck and practices hitting. Smacked one this weekend so hard it sounded like he hit a ball. We looked at it afterwards and it knocked the head off.

  12. there isnt a nice way to say it, but kids that young should always be supervised by an adult. Which makes their ability to get at a gun that is way up high impossible to do. You cannot secure everything that can cause serious harm to a child -- car keys, chemistry, electrical outlets, matches, guns, ..... I can list stuff all night ..... the solution is constant supervision and constant awareness of where the children are and what they are doing.

  16. Have you been to a class there? No? Glad you can comment on this with an educated view point... In all the classes I have taken out there; and I have taken most of their curriculum. There has never, EVER, been any sort of cavalier attitude towards safety. If you don't feel comfortable doing something you are never forced to do it. You are treated like an adult and are expected to handle yourself as one. If the gun you trust your life to will not take a 3-4' fall to the ground without damage you need to reconsider your options. 17. I had never owned a Glock before I got my Gen 4 Glock 26 a few months ago. . I dont know anything about any other Glock but mine. . but if I loved my Glock anymore than I do right now I would have to write a Dear Penthouse Forum letter about it. . I did put a set of meprolights on it and added the Pierce extentions to the 3 mags. . not missed a beat through about 600 rounds or so. . I just slip it into a Desantis Nemesis pocket holster. . and away we go. .two stalwart friends on a whirlwind adventure. . just like Shrek And Donkey. .
