  1. Yes there is. Romney chose a lot better friends. The WORST thing about Obama is the bunch that surrounds him.

  2. I recently completed Tactical Responses' Fighting Pistol class. I thought I would attempt to write a review in case you are like me and wondering if it is worth the time and money. Friday: I left Knoxville at 1500 and heading straight to Camden, TN. It took me 4 hours on the dot to arrive there. When I signed up for the class I opted to stay in the team room (more on that later). I arrived at the team room and was greeted by Jay Gibson who actually lives there. He showed me around and I picked my bunk, grabbed some dinner, and called it a night. Saturday: We met at the Tactical Response store at 0900 for class. The class started with introductions. Teachers, a dentist, construction workers, medical people, and firearms instructors were all in attendance. We went over proper draws, malfunctions, sight alignment, mind preparation for fights, and of course range rules. After a relatively short class period, we all loaded our cars and caravanned to the range. Once on the range we again went over the rules and what to do in a medical emergency. We started off with proper draws in steps. An instructor was available for about every 3-4 people. They critiqued you, were picky, and weren't afraid to piss you off. They took their jobs seriously and wanted you to do it correctly. We begin with one shot drills followed by the 360 degree scan. We moved from DEA dot drills, to reloads, FAST drills, all type of malfunctions, kneeling, supine shooting, strong hand drills, shooting on the move, one hand reloads and malfunction clearance. After range day, the guys decided to have a cook out and about 10 of us went. We stopped at walmart and got whatever food we wanted, went and cooked it. We all told stories that we have come across in our occupations. It was a good time for all. Sunday: Again we met at the store at 0900. The lecture lasted three hours and was amazing. James Yeager spoke on mindset, tactics, and lethal force. This lecture was worth the drive by itself. After lunch we hit the range again. We learned shooting on the move, retention drills, and cover/concealment. After the final drill, we all got our certificates and loaded back up dirty and tired. Team room: This is a free place to stay that is in the home of James Yeager. It is in his basement and has two bunk rooms that sleep 6 each (12 total). Our class was lucky and only about 6 stayed there so the one bathroom and one shower didn't seem too bad. They have a refridgator for whatever you wanna keep cool as well as microwaves and foreman grills. Jay has a mega collection of movies and we all watched some each night. James Yeager: Cool dude. I looked him up before the class and people either love him or hate him. I really liked him. He's a very down to earth guy and I believe he knows what he is talking about. His goal is to teach you how to FIGHT and not how to shoot. In fact, at the beginning of each drill the instructor will yell FIGHT! to denote the beginning of the drill. Jay Gibson: This fella knew his stuff. When I first arrived at the team room the conversation(s) we had were like pulling teeth. We have nothing in common other than a mutual love for guns. He has been a contractor and knows his stuff but outside of class, I found it difficult to carry a conversation. It didn't bother me much since I was there to learn how to fight and not make a Facebook friend. Guns: Bring a Glock 19. If you don't, they will make fun of whatever gun you have (in a nice way). A fella brought a 1911 and they gave him so much crap. It worked the entire class and only got a little funky on the last drill as the mags got dirty. I brought a Glock 30, so of course I had a small penis since I shot .45. Thoughts: This is my PERSONAL opinion so please keep that in mind. I LOVED this class. I would take it again. In fact, there were MULTIPLE people taking this class for the second or third time. The team room is a great place to stay if you have more experience than I do. I felt a but excluded during conversations since I've never been to Iraq or shot someone. I would probably stay there again b/c I'm a cheapo, but I would strongly consider a hotel next time (note the next time). The classwork, range time, ad instructors were all top notch and I feel like I'm truly a better fighter now. I can't wait for the next class. Note two things: 1. If you are offended by language, then you will hate your life. I heard the F word about 700 times (ironically the number of bullets I used). 2. You will throw your gun on the gravel. We all lined up our sights and the instructor said for us all to drop our guns. My 30 hit the ground and didn't go bang. None of the guns did. The 1911 fella cringed a little when his Kimber hit the ground though. Hope this helps anyone considering taking a class from Tactical Response. I highly recommend it.

  4. Depends. My rule of thumb is this: Did you damage anything belonging to someone else? If yes, ticket. If no, no ticket. Pretty much my department's stance as well. So for someone dropping their car off in a ditch and tearing up only their property, I wouldn't issue a citation. Why add insult to injury? About two years ago, I had to work a crash where a wife rear ended her husband while she was following him to the shop to drop off his car. She did a fair amount of damage to both vehicles. Did I write a ticket? Nope. They're married, therefor both cars are community property. She only tore up her stuff. Her day was going bad enough...

  6. It has taken me about 30 minutes to calm down. ALRIGHTY! Another McCain. Woo Hoo...yayyyyyy... NOT! http://www.foxnews.c...04/10/santorum/ Romney is a milquetoast wuss who will crumble the first time Obama plays the race card against him…which should be any day this week! Are these morons all in this together just to screw the American people or what? Thanks Santorum! Douchebag! So now even if absolutely EVERY person in the U.S. gets behind Romney…can he beat Obama??? I have my doubts. So the choice is Obama or Romney. Make your choice now and stick with it because Obama will be on the all out attack against Romeny starting in about 5 minutes for the next 7 months…NON STOP!!! It's going to get very nasty.

  8. It's only over if people give up...sounds like you have. Are you involved with a Tea-Party group or something similar? Have you contributed money or time to any candidate running for anything this year or in the past four years? Have you gone to any of the rallies in D.C or attended a town hall meeting with a legislator? What have you done to show those in office that you are tired of the direction of the country or to encourage better candidates to run? I tell you this, we are lucky we have ANYONE of any decent character running for office today and I to be blunt, I've had about a belly full of all the people who complain about their choices but don't do s**t about it other than complain. If people want better candidates then maybe THEY should get out there and run for office or knock on a few doors and give money to candidates they like but throwing a pity-party isn't going to help and sitting out this election like some are claiming they will is damn stupid....if Obama gets another term we'll be lucky if we have elections again. Rant off...sorry if I offended anyone (although not too sorry).

  10. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that I think "they will make fun of you" means good-natured teasing. Shooting is still new to me but I've played sports and been involved in outdoor and competitive activities my entire life. Usually, when someone is "giving you sh*t" it's just their way of relating to you. I'm sure they'll gladly accept your money and train you if you bring a Sig, HK, M&P etc...I'm really speculating here but I think if your gun works, you'd be GTG.

  12. You would be correct, Worriedman - Ramsey is my state Senator. I have emailed him several times throughout this GA session seeking his comments on these bills, particularly with regard to "prior" statements such as the one you have relayed above. I have yet to receive a response. Therefore, I am left with no recourse but to assume his most recent statements as relayed by Spkr Harwell are indicative of his present position - I even pointedly and specifically asked about those, but again was met with silence. Ron is an active auctioneer - my guess is that we have been outbid. Wait - I just noticed something. The response you quoted is from "teamronramsey", not "lt.gov.ron.ramsey". Therein, methinks, lies the difference... I have again today asked this question. We'll see...

  13. This could well be our last chance to have a chance of stopping a centralized, intrusive Big Government. right now, barely over 50% of the eligible voters actually pay any income tax. By a remarkable coincidence the percentage of the population receiving some form of government money (payroll, welfare, EBT, Medicaid, MediCare, etc) is also just about 50%. What do you think will happen when over 50% are receiving government money? Will they vote to eliminate that source of income? It takes a lot of moral courage to cast a vote that will cause you personal harm but benefit the country. If you are receiving any kind of government money, you had better plan on how to survive without it. Because one way or another, that gravy train is going to end. Either we will change it voluntarily, or our economy will crash. No middle ground there.

  14. Definitely check out the Bar Harbor area, Old Orchard Beach and Kittery Outlets. The ride up Route 1 thru all the coastal villages is photo opportunity galore. Other than that it is all pine trees. Maine is a great place to be FROM. I should know I was born and raised there.

  16. Yah, I don't know why armchair gun lore doesn't claim that will automatically necessitate a hip replacement. I'm mostly pocket carrying these days, so I'm sure a fall on that side will cause my femur to be broken in half. - OS

  17. +1 It is illegal for anyone to carry any firearm in Tennessee, even HCP holders. It is illegal to carry a pistol, rifle or shotgun. What keeps us out of trouble is the exceptions and defenses to the law. A HCP that is armed with a pistol is still guilty of unlawful carrying or possession of a firearm but because of the exception they cannot be charged. It isn't that a HCP makes it legal to carry, because it is still illegal, the HCP just makes it so you cannot be charged with the crime of unlawful carrying or possession of a firearm. There is a difference between something being legal and something being illegal with an exception. The HCP gives exception to handguns only, not rifles or shotguns. So it remains illegal to carry a firearm, including rifles, by everyone without regard to their HCP status. By default the only type of firearm excepted is a handgun. And because a rifle is not mentioned in the exception it is illegal to be in possession of it. Dolomite Dolomite

  19. If someone with an HCP does something that disqualifies them from having it then the HCP will be rescinded. Background checks are and have always been pointless....until such time as we have time travel and can see what someone will eventually use a firearm for, the only function they can serve is to make the ill-informed "feel better" about people buying firearms. Our effort as a society should be on punishing people who chose to misuse firearms to commit crimes and then putting them in jail and keeping them in jail (then they won't be on the street to commit more crimes ad/or buy firearms). Putting impediments on those who have done nothing wrong is exactly what we should NOT be doing.
