  1. "The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president." Not my words but they do express my true feelings. America as we know it is done if this clown is re elected. oldogy

  2. Obama May Be In Deep Trouble... with Chief Justice John Roberts, US Supreme Court! Anthony G. Martin - North St. Paul News According to sources who watch the inner workings of the federal government, a smack-down of Barack Obama by the US Supreme Court may be inevitable. Ever since Obama assumed the office of President, critics have hammered him on a number of Constitutional issues. Critics have complained that much, if not all of Obama's major initiatives run headlong into Constitutional roadblocks on the power of the federal government. Obama certainly did not help himself in the eyes of the Court when he used the venue of the State of the Union address early in the year to publicly flog the Court over its ruling that the First Amendment grants the right to various organizations to run political ads during the time of an election. The tongue-lashing clearly did not sit well with the Court, as demonstrated by Justice Sam Alito, who publicly shook his head and stated under his breath, 'That's not true,' when Obama told a flat-out lie concerning the Court's ruling. As it has turned out, this was a watershed moment in the relationship between the executive and the judicial branches of the federal government. Obama publicly declared war on the court, even as he blatantly continued to propose legislation that flies in the face of every known Constitutional principle upon which this nation has stood for over 200 years. Obama has even identified Chief Justice John Roberts as his number one enemy, that is, apart from Fox News and Rush Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity and so on. And it is no accident that the one swing-vote on the court, Justice Anthony Kennedy, stated recently that he has no intention of retiring until 'Obama is gone.' Apparently, the Court has had enough. The Roberts Court has signaled, in a very subtle manner, of course, that it intends to address the issues about which Obama critics have been screaming to high heaven. A ruling against Obama on any one of these important issues could potentially cripple the Administration. Such a thing would be long overdue. First, there is ObamaCare, which violates the Constitutional principle barring the federal government from forcing citizens to purchase something. And no, this is not the same thing as states requiring drivers to purchase car insurance, as some of the intellectually-impaired claim. The Constitution limits the FEDERAL government, not state governments, from such things, and further, not everyone has to drive, and thus, a citizen could opt not to purchase car insurance by simply deciding not to drive a vehicle. In the ObamaCare world, however, no citizen can 'opt out.' Second, sources state that the Roberts court has quietly accepted information concerning discrepancies in Obama's history that raise serious questions about his eligibility for the office of President. The charge goes far beyond the birth certificate issue. This information involves possible fraudulent use of a Social Security number in Connecticut, while Obama was a high school student in Hawaii. And that is only the tip of the iceberg. Third, several cases involving possible criminal activity, conflicts of interest, and pay-for-play cronyism could potentially land many Administration officials, if not Obama himself, in hot water with the Court. Frankly, in the years this writer has observed politics, nothing comes close to comparing with the rampant corruption of this Administration, not even during the Nixon years. Nixon and the Watergate conspirators look like choirboys compared to the jokers that populate this Administration. In addition, the Court will eventually be forced to rule on the dreadful decision of the Obama DOJ suing the state of Arizona. That, too, could send the Obama doctrine of open borders to an early grave, given that the Administration refuses to enforce federal law on illegal aliens. And finally, the biggie that could potentially send the entire house of cards tumbling in a free-fall is the latest revelation concerning the Obama-Holder Department of Justice and its refusal to pursue the New Black Panther Party. The group was caught on tape committing felonies by attempting to intimidate Caucasian voters into staying away from the polls. A whistle-blower who resigned from the DOJ is now charging Holder with the deliberate refusal to pursue cases against Blacks, particularly those who are involved in radical hate-groups, such as the New Black Panthers, who have been caught on tape calling for the murder of white people and their babies. This one is a biggie that could send the entire Administration crumbling--that is, if the Justices have the guts to draw a line in the sand at the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

  3. Wife and I made our way to the Opry Mall last night and as packed as it was there was plenty of officers on hand. BUT! I was very pleased to see that both PD and Mall Security were stopping those with saggy pants and asking them to PULL THEM UP OR LEAVE! We saw this not once but 3 time while walking around. Of course the persons they stopped gave the "mans holding me down" speech and as they passed us had some choice words for the officers but you could still see that they understood that PD was not going to take ANY crap and that the mall security has plans to keep this mall a family place where they can feel safe at unlike Rivergate, coolsprings, and I really wanted to tell those kids and few adults to just go back to Hickory Hollow!

  4. Where are you getting this? Everything I've read said that followed Martin and called the police, just like neighborhood watch is supposed to do. He didn't chase him down the street or anything. Any it looks like Martin approached Zimmerman, not the other way around. But don't let that interrupt your witch hunt. Cheers!

  5. I posted this in another post and thought I would make its own thread. I generally do because the "flat" surface that the barrel mounts to is generally off by several thousandths. And think about it, being off by .001 equates to .1 off at 100 yards and creates additional harmonics when the surface isn't flat. This ensures the barrel is inline with the upper and mated squarely. Almost every custom bolt action builder squares the front of the receiver as well as the recoil lug. The same should be done to accurize a AR because they are rarely square. Squaring it puts the barrel inline with the receiver and hopefully settles down any additional harmonics. Here are pictures of one I did for myself: First I start out with a round tube that is cut to allow for a very tight fit into the receiver where the barrel goes. And I clearance it to allow my cutter to get a full width cut. I make sure to cut a new tube each time to make sure it is true. Next I start to surface the front portion: You can see where the imperfection starts to to be cut at the 12 o'clock position. And because this is the high spot it tilts the barrel down and you loose up on your scope, something important for those shooting longer ranges where every click counts. This is normal for the high area to be here first. This is about 1/2 way there and now the high spot is on the left of the receiver, pushing the barrel to the right: And finally all cleaned up: And the reason I do this is because when the gun fires the barrel shifts back against the receiver where it is supposed to be a flat. And in this case the first void is everything except at 12 o'clock forcing the barrel down and creating additional harmonics. Then is settles into the right side of the receiver because the left side has a high spot and again more harmonics. And it is all these varying harmonic frequencies that can cause a gun to seemingly never be accurate. After doing this the barrel doesn't shift or squirm around upon firing or at least not as much, it comes straight back squarely on the receiver. This reduces the harmonics to only what is inherently in the barrel. And this receiver had been properly torqued but still had high spots. And the 20 minutes to do this put me in bed for the rest of the day. Damn I hate my back. Questions are welcome. Dolomite

  6. Well, I voted for Ron Paul in the primary, and lost. I see very little difference in Romney and Obama. In fact, I might even give the edge to Obama, because he's fairly open about his political beliefs. I will not vote fo Romney! What is a fella to do? It seems the only choice voters have is a bullet to the head, or a dagger in the heart. Why vote at all?

  7. Well I finally got around to fixing my new reloading bench. I used an old craftsman tool cabinet my FIL gave me and removed the fiberboard top and replaced with 3/4 hardwood plywood. I used the whole 8 foot section and made a separate workspace to the side. I also painted the cabinet and draws as they were kinda rusty. The only drawback is I made the legs a little narrow, I just used the cabinet width to build my frame. I should have spread the legs farther apart and it would be a little more stable. But once I load it down it should be fine, and if all else fails I'll just anchor it to the wall.

  8. Went to see the film today. It's a good flick if you just let go and not try to nit pick with "what I'd do". You gotta remember they are kids. I guess I'll read the books now. I'm surprised it's so popular and none of the interest groups are crying because of the "Kids killing kids" and all. At first when you've seen it you WANT to think, "Oh that can't happen, no one would watch that!" but I beg to differ, people are sick and people will [as a flock] do whatever anyone is doing so YES, I can see it as plausible. I do find it sad that after some world wide war [i'm guessing] that ALL of the men in the world no longer have any spherical attachments betwixt their legs. NO friggin' way would I live under a tyrannical government that would subdivide the world, place me a sector where I may very well starve to death all the while they wine and dine and dance. THEN once a year come around and take "tribute" one boy/one girl to fight to the death, all under the ruse of maintaing peace and placating the desire for any uprising. I'll be long dead in a world like that, or I would have a bounty on my head so large Han Solo would be jealous. What'd ya'll think?

  10. Good grief folks! A guy can't make any contribution to this thread without everyone going nuts and getting their panties in a wad. Go ahead and believe what you want about the law. If you don't want to listen to a guy who worked as a LEO in the very state this event took place, investigated several felony cases of battery, and trained new cops on the law, that's fine. We shall see what the grand jury says and that will be that. However, I assure you that in most places in this country, if you shoot someone just because they are punching you in the face, you are likely to be charged with manslaughter. Massad Ayoob runs down these sorts of scenarios all the time, and gun owners choose to ignore the reality of the law because they disagree with it in principle. If you want to take that gamble, have at it. If you want to consider my general comments about bias, prejudice, and racism as a personal affront, was not my intent, nor was it meant specifically as a criticism against anyone in particular. People are making blanket statements about race, wondering why others are getting wound up over it, then get wound up over my comments pointing out the problems associated with blanket statements and where they come from. If folks want to keep talking about "them" and how "they" are bad people because "they are all" the same, then enjoy the discussion. Just don't be surprised when nothing changes in this world when it comes to race relations. These comments are not any different than the ones made about whites by Sharpton or Jackson. It's simply inaccurate and nonconstructive to stereotype people in society.

  12. I heard that one of the options the Health Care proponents are hoping for if the Justices vote against the bill is that they overturn just portions of it. One of the justices this week said that is not their job, to sort through 2700 pages of a bill and find the pieces that are unconstitutional. If they find one little part that is unconstitutional, they'll send it all back. Looks like this is going to get very interesting!

  13. It is not part of an essay. It was just a blurb in Czech Republic as published in the Prager Zeitung of 28 April 2011. What oldguy quoted seems to be the entire piece. While the quote is philosophically correct, in practical matters it doesn't really mean all that much. Yes, it is the voters who put a person like Obama in office who are to blame, and it is those type of voters who are going to bring about the downfall of this country. However, does anyone think it is realistic that we (Republicans, conservatives, and libertarians) will be able to change the hearts and minds of 50 plus million people who voted for the a$$hole? I don't think so. The only thing we can do is fight them politically, which is something we can do and win.

  14. Damn! This thread looks like it's going to top out over 1000 posts. And this is a relatively small issue. It's a good thing we're not trying to achieve world peace here or something. No one posting on this thread, as far as I know, is an eye-witness to the confrontation, nor a resident of the gated community in Sanford, Florida. Therefore, we are all getting any information we have through first-, second-, third- and fourth-hand reports, mostly through a clearly biased (one way or another) and flawed media. Talk about a dark, murky and distorted lens. Be damned glad you are not a Sanford, Florida-based police officer, investigator, district attorney, elected public official, grand juror, juror, or judge involved in this case. What a stinking mess. Everyone is bringing their own background, biases, opinions and point of view to this, and that includes me. Lord only knows how this is all going to sort out.

  17. I'm glad that someone has decided to maintain some standards! It's private property and they can mandate dresses and ties if they want! I remind the kids of what low, baggy pants really means! In prison, those low pants without a belt are a sign that you are someone's 'bitch'. It provides easy access for the Master and whoever else he allows to ride his bitch. So, instead of showing that you are a mean, mother****, it just shows that you were somebody else's sexual toy in prison. That usually gets them to pull up their pants.

  18. Just another rich spoon-fed celebrity who has every need in life catered to by a servant. He has no idea how the real working folks live from day to day, no grasp on reality beyond Hollywood. Just because he's a famous actor doesn't give him any extra insight on life and reality, probably less.

  19. This November we will truly be presented a choice between two 'evils'. One is very clearly a greater evil than the other. Here is my take on why you should vote for Romeny. 1) The Supreme Court thing. Romney is unlikely to appoint another Thomas, Scalia, or Rogers. The best we can hope for is another Kennedy. But we know Obama will appoint radical Marxists to the bench. Against another Kaga or Sotomeyor, I'd prefer Kennedy. 2) Vote for the best Senators and Representatives you can. Having a strongly Constitutional House and Senate is really the best path regardless of who is President. Remember, ALL laws come from Congress. ALL spending bills must originate in the House. 3) Romney is a Republican Party hack. He is unlikely to do anything very controversial. He will try to stay in the middle of the road and appease the majority. If Congress sends him legislation, he is unlikely to veto it. Obama has shown that he will use bullying, threats and violence to achieve his goals. So, yes, Romney is not a force for 'good'. But he is an 'evil' that will be easier to contain and minimize than Obama. A pox on the Republican leadership for saddling us with that man. I do not believe for a moment that he will be good for the USA. But the damage he will do is probably much less than what Obama has promised to do.

  20. I was a police officer in Florida for 7 years that included the year when the SYG law was passed. Florida law justifies the use of deadly force in cases where an individual has a reasonable belief that there is an imminent risk of death or serious bodily injury, which basically means catastrophic injury that could potentially result in death, serious disfigurement, permanent loss of bodily function like eyesight, etc., or to prevent a forcible felony such as rape or kidnapping. A kid punching you in the face hardly qualifies as any of these. Is it possible for an unarmed person to kill a man? Sure, but it's very rare and it's going to take a tremendous burden of proof to convince a grand jury that his alleged belief was "reasonable." As a LEO we were trained on how to deal with such a situation and it was made very clear that we could not use deadly force against someone who was pounding on us unless the beating was so severe that we were concerned that we were about to lose consciousness and/or risk having our firearm taken from us. I have personally been involved in cases where the victim required hospitalization following the attack and the SA's office and/or grand jury determined that the injuries didn't reach the level of "serious bodily injury" as defined in Florida statutes. It is my understanding that Tennessee law is very similar, and I am certain that Kentucky law is as well (I was a cop there for 3 years before moving to Florida). Seeing the video from the police department immediately following the shooting reveals that although he had injuries, they weren't even remotely close to reaching the level of serious bodily injury. If one would return a no true bill because they think the decedent is a dirtbag and deserved what they got, then they have no respect for the law. My point is this: if you are carrying a firearm, you can't simply shoot someone because they are attacking you. They must be presenting a very high level of force, a level so high that you will either be killed or the ramifications of the attack are so serious that physically you will never be the same again. You can't just shoot someone to protect yourself from harm. Deadly force can only be used in the face of grievous harm. This is a very important point that far too many CCW permit holders fail to understand at it will be at the risk of their freedom as Mr. Zimmerman is currently learning firsthand.

  22. I think these issues get over simplified a lot. People need to put more effort into finding the vehicle that more perfectly fits what they need, and less into brand loyalty. My wife's 05 Chrysler Town and Country has 215,000 miles on it and runs and drives perfectly. Does this mean I would I buy a Dodge truck? Not a chance, and I sure would not drive one of their cars. The minivan design from 97 to 07 was fantastic, and basically won them the minivan war. Toyota and Honda are just now gaining ground because people do not like the new Chrysler vans. My car is a Chevy Cobalt XFE. It was made in Ohio, has more HP and more MPG than the comparable Honda or Toyota, and cost far less. It has 95,000 miles and never had an issue. In fact I just started my 100,000 mile maintenance in which I simply took the old spark plugs out and put the new ones in and it took all of 15 minutes. People say that to buy new Hondas and Toyotas is to send money to Japan, and yeah that is true. they don't build factories here just as a hobby, but so what? If I were going to buy a car for political reasons it would be a Ford. I like the way they handled the free money from the government deal. The only issue is I do not like any of the cars they make. I am gonna stop as I get carried away. Point is people need to do more research about vehicles before they buy them. If you go to a lot and do not know more about the vehicle you are looking at than the sales person does you are doing it wrong.

  24. Hate Crime is code for "Thought Crime". For an explanation, read the book "1984." As far as I can gather, a hate crime is any crime commited against a black person, or a gay person, by a white male, that can somehow be construed into racism or homophobia. If you have documented examples contrary to this, I'd like to see them.

  25. Guys, don't get the wrong idea. I believe Obama is hands down the worst president in the history of the country. To call me an Obama lover is to stray as far from truth as possible. What I can't get comfortable with is the idea of voting for a Republican just because he isn't Obama, and hoping he might decide to not be quite as progressive. If that is the best the Republicans are willing to offer; SCREW THEM!!! I don't know what the right answer is, but until one party or the other decides to uphold the constitution, I will support neither. If that contributes to the detriment of our country; so be it. If more would do the same instead of settling for "at least he isn't Obama", we could get something done. Until then, we're toast.

You are just tired of all of the politically correct crap, the affirmative action, the social program and the overall general existence of the non-white humanoid. Good news for you. 30. Robert, if you want to paint me as being driven by fear, that’s fine. I am driven by intelligence, common sense and a desire for justice. I fear no man. And I have no fear that I will make a foolish mistake that puts me in the situation that Zimmerman was in. I think fear is why you so desperately want to see Zimmerman not prosecuted. I think you want to believe that you can take your gun out and kill anymore that scares you. You live in the wrong state for that. This isn’t about duty to retreat and it isn’t about race. This is about a little man that believed carrying a gun made all things equal. I am not naive; I know very well that we have a legal system and not a justice system. But I hold out a little bit of hope that because of the spotlight that has been put on this case our system will do what’s right. I very well may be disappointed.

  32. Zimmerman was on the ground being punched when he shot Trayvon Martin By Kyle Rogers, Charleston Conservative Examiner Last weekend in the city of Chicago alone, gangbangers slaughtered ten people and wounded another forty. The youngest fatality is only six years old. The youngest person wounded is only one-year-old. Many of the victim were pedestrians sprayed with bullets in drive by shootings. The national news has said nothing about this. So why does one shooting in Florida warrant weeks of national news? Why has there been thousands of articles a day, for the last four days, about one single shooting? Almost all of the news items about George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin contains a combination of false statements, opinions presented as facts, transparent distortions, and a complete absence of some of the most relevant details. Almost all news items are written soley from the point of view of the grieving family. The media also fills their articles with outdated baby-faced pictures of Trayvon. Very few include that he was a towering 6'2†football player. Is the media really reporting the news, or is this classic agitation/propaganda to advance a political agenda. Literally thousands of articles contain at least one false statement in the first couple of lines. They usually read "George ZImmerman, a white man," or "shoot by a white man." Zimmerman is described by family as a multiracial Hispanic. His appearance is clearly that of a Latino/Mestizo individual. However, the media wants him to be white because that better fits the political narrative they are trying to artificially create. Many news articles have also claimed the neighborhood is "mostly white." This is also a lie. The neighborhood is only 49% white. It is over half non-white. All the way back on February 27th, the local Orlando Fox station interviewed the witness who dialed 911. Almost none of the thousands of articles since have mentioned any of the details described by the witness. Some, however, have attributed false statements to this witness. On March 16th, the Sanford police department released new details to the Orlando Sentinel. Once again, these details have been ignored or changed by the media. The witness reports that George Zimmerman was on the ground and Trayvon is on top of him punching him. The witness says that George Zimmerman was screaming and yelling for help. Police arrive and find Zimmerman bleeding on his face and the back of his head. He also has had grass stains on his back. All this confirms the story told by Zimmerman and the witness. Police play the 911 tape for Trayvon Martin's father, who tells police that the voice screaming is not the voice of his son. The neighborhood this took place in has seen a lot of crime. Would you be surprised to learn that there were eight burglaries, nine thefts, and a shooting just in the past year? In fact, the local homeowners' association reports that George Zimmerman actually caught one thief and aided in the apprehension of other criminals. The Miami Herald wrote about this on March 17th. None of the thousands of articles and cable news segments that came after, thought this was important. In fact the Miami Herald goes on to interview neighbor, Ibrahim Rashada, who is black. Rashada confirms that there has been a lot of crime in the neighborhood and indicates to the reporter that the perpetrators are usually black. The media also characterizes Trayvon as a "model student." In fact, he under a five day suspension when the shooting took place. That is why he was staying at a house so far from his school on a school night. A laywer for Trayvon's family has blocked access to his school records. However, you have to do something pretty bad to get suspended for five days. Now that you know the suppressed facts of the case, you can for form a better more balanced opinion. Maybe you still think Zimmerman was wrong to pull the trigger. However, I think you will come to the conclusion that the "mainstream" clearly is pushing an agenda. Even when they have to grossly alter and adjust a story to fit that agenda. 33. Really? You think that people should be arrested based on "sensationalized pressure from the press" IF it accomplishes something you happen to think needs to be accomplished? I remember some Duke lacrosse teem members who were arrested based a great deal on sensationalized pressure from the press. I remember some young black men who were arrested for raping Tawana Brawley because of sensationalized pressure from the press. How about we only arrest people based on EVIDENCE. Legitimate press where facts, ALL the facts are presented or a cover-up uncovered...yeah...that's good...that's one of the major functions of a legitimate press. Sensationalized stories that include some facts and leave other facts conveniently out of the story (so as to puss an already formed opinion) are another matter.
