  2. If restricting provisions in a bill to HCP holders, I really don't have a problem with that, if that's what it takes to get a bill passed. Half a loaf is always better than none. Additionally, more and more people are getting HCPs as a percentage of the Tennessee population. And, if the safe commute goes through with HCP provisions, then that is just one more incentive for folks to get their HCP. Then, a year or two goes by without trouble, and we know it will, then an amendment to the law goes through without any trouble to just roll it over to all gun owners. You're half way to constitutional carry by then. Ok, now leap on me and beat me up. I imagine I'm not the first nor the last to recommend this course of action or be willing to accept it as an interim stage to an inevitable outcome.

  3. From the Guns and Leather Facebook Page: TN State Rep., Debra Maggart and Speaker of the House, Beth Harwell taking a class at our Hendersonville store with instructor Warren Smith (left). Our sales guy, Michael Stanley, wanted to get in the picture too! Now imagine that, two of the most virulent opponents to the Employee Safe Commute Bill, taking an opportunity to get some face time around guns. I am surprised one did not jump off the shelf and do something sinister...

  4. I'm not sure if I have posted this before, oh well, here goes anyway: Ruger MKII and III improvements: These are military and military retiree prices from Brownells that currently (3/12/2012) exist online. Necessary when making a MKIII or MKIII 22/45 better than pedestrian because it replaces the space where the magazine disconnect used to be when you remove it. Removing the mag disconnect makes the pistol easier to assemble and disassemble, and lightens the trigger pull. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=31838/avs%7CManufacturer_1=VOLQUARTSEN/Product/RUGER-reg-MARK-II-HAMMER-BUSHING $6.00 Necessary for a good target trigger and reliable extraction in MK II or III Ruger .22lr pistols http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=24641/avs%7CManufacturer_1=VOLQUARTSEN/Product/RUGER-reg-MARK-II-III-TARGET-SEAR $24.29 http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=13862/avs%7CManufacturer_1=VOLQUARTSEN/Product/RUGER-reg-MARK-II-IIII-trade-22-45-TARGET-TRIGGER Black Aluminum: $27.59; Stainless: $33.10 http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=13845/avs%7CManufacturer_1=VOLQUARTSEN/Product/10-22-reg-MAGNUM-EXACT-EDGE-EXTRACTOR $9.99 MKIII 22/45 or MKIII detailed strip and reassembly http://www.guntalk-online.com/2245detailstripping.htm http://www.guntalk-online.com/detailstrip.htm MKII detailed strip and reassembly http://www.1bad69.com/ruger/index.htm

  5. Really Robert, have we really reduced this down to personal attacks? I don’t think anyone that is following this thread has any doubt who is discussing the issues and who is simply attacking me because my views are not in line with theirs. If we have reduced it down to personal attacks, okay….You are being childish and immature because my views don’t align with yours. You are pathetic.

  6. 1. Live until I die and continue to enjoy whatever fishing/hunting opportunities present themselves, whenever and where ever they happen to be. 2. Get shot by a jealous husband at the age 110 whilst showing his 25 year old wife what else "we used to do down at the old fishin' hole."

  7. No slam dunk, but if they can prove Trayvon was yelling for help that means Zimmerman’s credibility is gone. I haven’t heard anyone ID Zimmerman. I may be wrong but all I have heard is them identify clothing color. That’s not a good ID.

  8. God made all men. Sam Colt made all men equal. And that is as it should be. What's next, Dave? Penis jokes?

  9. Robert, if you want to paint me as being driven by fear, that’s fine. I am driven by intelligence, common sense and a desire for justice. I fear no man. And I have no fear that I will make a foolish mistake that puts me in the situation that Zimmerman was in. I think fear is why you so desperately want to see Zimmerman not prosecuted. I think you want to believe that you can take your gun out and kill anymore that scares you. You live in the wrong state for that. This isn’t about duty to retreat and it isn’t about race. This is about a little man that believed carrying a gun made all things equal. I am not naive; I know very well that we have a legal system and not a justice system. But I hold out a little bit of hope that because of the spotlight that has been put on this case our system will do what’s right. I very well may be disappointed.

  10. This has been floating around for a while, and I know most of us have seen most of these before, but it kinda' gave me a warm fuzzy to see them again in condensed form. Hope you enjoy! ...Birds of a feather flock together and crap on your car. When I'm feeling down, I like to whistle. It makes the neighbor's dog run to the end of his chain and gag himself. A penny saved is a government oversight. The real art of conversation is not only to say the right thing at the right time, but also to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment. The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight, because by then your body and your fat have gotten to be really good friends. The easiest way to find something lost around the house is to buy a replacement. He who hesitates is probably right. Did you ever notice: The Roman Numerals for forty (40) are 'XL.' If you think there is good in everybody, you haven't met everybody. If you can smile when things go wrong , you have someone in mind to blame. The sole purpose of a child's middle name is so he can tell when he's really in trouble. There's always a lot to be thankful for if you take time to look for it. For example I am sitting here thinking how nice it is that wrinkles don't hurt . Did you ever notice: When you put the 2 words 'The' and 'IRS' together it spells 'Theirs.' Aging: Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it. The older we get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for. Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know why I look this way; I've traveled a long way and a lot of the roads weren't paved. When you are dissatisfied and would like to go back to youth, think of Algebra. You know you are getting old when everything either dries up or leaks. One of the many things no one tells you about aging is that it is such a nice change from being young. Ah, being young is beautiful, but being old is comfortable. First you forget names, then you forget faces. Then you forget to pull up your zipper. It's worse when you forget to pull it down. . Lord, Keep your arm around my shoulder and your hand over my mouth, AMEN.

  11. And for the record, I don't "haggle" at gun shops. I ask what the price is (or see it on the tag), then I decide if I want to buy it or not. If the quoted price is more than I'm willing to pay, I go elsewhere.

  12. They can run their business however they see fit, but when every other gun store I've visited in the Middle Tennessee area - including many of our other vendors - are selling Ruger LCP's for $300-$319, I was a little stunned when they quoted me a price of nearly $350 before tax/TICS. If we were talking about a $1000+ gun, $30-$50 may not be an issue. But on a $300 gun, $30-$50 is a little more noticeable. If I was one of only a few who've had similar complaints about The Outpost Armory, I may find it in my heart to feel bad, but that is hardly the case. Outside of this website, I've not met a single person who visited The Outpost Armory that didn't complain about their prices, when compared to other gun stores in our area. I deal with a great number of customers/business owners in Rutherford County, and every single one felt the same way. Honestly, not a single one has not complained, and these are people with far, far more money to blow than myself. I'm not sure why those of us who compare/notice prices are vilified, as if the average person never does this. For those of us who compare prices, we have other places to shop. For those businesses who want to charge more than almost everyone else in the area, they have other customers to sell to. In the end, I don't think anyone is going to be losing much sleep over this issue.

  13. It really should not matter if you are following the proper steps of shooting. Suprisingly I am very accurate with the SW Sigma series, they do have one of the crappiest triggers out there. But I think because of the heavy trigger I am paying more attention to the trigger pull. 1911s make rapid fire for me a bit more easier becaue of the shorter reset. All guns can shoot better than the people shooting them, so we can't really blame the guns

  14. Same here. I've had a lot of rounds downrange from G17, G19, P226, 92/96; I'm always more accurate with a 1911 and usually quicker getting the first round downrange... This is with a pro timer. I'm pretty close with a Glock on time though. I attribute it to trigger pull. My trigger pull sucks on DA pistols, especially going between DA and SA. Its inconsistent and messes with my muscle memory. Trigger pull on a 1911 is the same every pull and very light. It's the biggest reason why I like Glocks, and so long as you take the slack out of the trigger as you're presenting you can be as quick and accurate with a Glock as a 1911.

  16. 6.8, those facts are not in dispute. They aren't even facts. Treyvon Martin was walking down the street between townhouses in a gated community in which he was a visitor, not a permanent resident Zimmerman started the fight with a swift nose to Martins' knuckles. Treyvon Martin had no duty to retreat either. He had a right to “stand his ground†and fight his attacker continue beating the guy he attacked Unfortunately for Treyvon he brought a set of fists to a gun fight attacked a legally armed private citizen And because he didn’t have the physical ability to take care of business he (and many others) feel that when he figured out he bit off more than he could chew; it’s okay to take out a gun and kill the kid. He’s wrong, and he’s going to find out just how wrong he is. Blah blah blah, a real man doesn't need to carry a gun, he settles everything with his fists. These are pretty much the same 'facts', arguments and attitudes you can get at, say, huffpost or the various Brady orgs. Only cops need to carry guns.

  17. I'm not saying anything happened, 'cause I don't have a crytstal ball like some folks. The fact the Zimmerman was wrong has NOTHING to do with the rules of engagement once the confrontation started. If Zimmerman simply aked him what he was doing, and the kid jumped him, then that's assault. That assault probably wouldn't be justified. If that assault continued to a critical point, like maybe where Zimmerman was screaming "help", then it changes things. It doesn't matter why either one showed up. It matters what happened in the confrontation. WE don't know all the details, or at least I don't
