  1. Anything short of a cop lynching is gonna bring claims of favoritism. Maybe, just maybe the cops did nothing wrong.

  2. Yes seeing a person armed is enough to conduct a stop. Would be the same if you were seen open carrying and stopped by LE once it has been determined your HCP is valid and you are legally carrying the detention should be ended if there is no other reasonable suspicion or probable cause to extend it further. He legally stopped you now maybe I wouldn't handled the stop his exact way but he did conduct a lawful stop.

  3. Good news. I'm to the point that I enjoy the pissed off liberals more than the restored rights. Guess I need therapy

  4. I gave a brief interview this afternoon on the Memphis Fox station about this case, it'll be on tonight at 10. We talked about deadly force laws and what might happen in this situation under Tennessee law. I think dude will get indicted. Like someone said, he accosted the kid, kid fought back, dude shot him. That's just not self defense. You can't seek the threat out then claim you were in fear for your life.

  5. Actually that entire statement is contrary to another witness account of the incident.

  6. So why not tell us who the vendor is so that we can all make more informed choices on who we buy from?

  7. In a SHTF world, ANYTHING yo have that someone else might want can be a basis of exchange; assuming you have enough of it to offer it in trade - extra food, ammunition, a firearm, a skill, etc. Given that, much of what we buy for that kind of emergency situation can become coinage which is why, if you can afford it, I think buying "extra" of those things is a good idea. Specificlaly with regards to coinage; I would say that anything that has a provable and identifiable metal content can be a good source of coinage but being able to establish the metal and how much is there is going to be key in establishing a value. Any U.S. minted coin from the correct time frame works well for that (commonly called junk silver/coinage). Personally, I happen to like 1oz bullion silver coins (mostly U.S. Eagles and Canadian Maple Leafs) because there really can be no legitimate question about how much silver is there and while not quite as convenient as a bag of old quarters, one oz coins are still small enough to deal with. That said, my primary reason for having the the bullion coins as well as some paper dollars on hand is more for a "temporary" emergency rather than an all out SHTF situation..if something happens and I can't get to an ATM (or they aren't working) or people won't (or can't) take a debit card then what cash/coin I have on hand is going to be extremely important.

  8. WHAT he did was legal. HOW he did it was stupid. If he gets that excited at the sight of civilians with guns, he should avoid the Hermitage Golden Corral the 3rd tuesday each month. He'd have a heart attack with all the folks open-carrying during our TFA meeting!!!

  9. Really? You think that people should be arrested based on "sensationalized pressure from the press" IF it accomplishes something you happen to think needs to be accomplished? I remember some Duke lacrosse teem members who were arrested based a great deal on sensationalized pressure from the press. I remember some young black men who were arrested for raping Tawana Brawley because of sensationalized pressure from the press. How about we only arrest people based on EVIDENCE. Legitimate press where facts, ALL the facts are presented or a cover-up uncovered...yeah...that's good...that's one of the major functions of a legitimate press. Sensationalized stories that include some facts and leave other facts conveniently out of the story (so as to puss an already formed opinion) are another matter.

  13. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504083_162-57401619-504083/author-of-stand-your-ground-law-george-zimmerman-should-probably-be-arrested-for-killing-trayvon-martin/ The authors of Florida's controversial "stand your ground" self-defense law say George Zimmerman should probably be arrested for shooting Trayvon Martin, reports the Miami Herald. "He has no protection under my law," former Sen. Durell Peaden told the newspaper. It is the fact that Zimmerman ignored the 911 operator's advice not to follow Martin that former Sen. Peaden says disqualifies him from claiming self-defense under the law. "The guy lost his defense right then," Peaden told the Miami Herald. "When he said 'I'm following him,' he lost his defense."

  14. I have conversations sometimes with the 9 year old grandson about different scenarios and what we would do. He wishes there were zombies so he could snipe 'em. And he also told me he would rather be a zombie than be dead because zombies get to walk around anyway.

  15. Something that no one has mentioned is something I would consider a priority in any survival situation when you are trying to stay low. A silencer. And get one for as many calibers as you can but if you only have one make it a 22. The reason is subsonic 22 ammo is readily available and lightweight to carry. And 22 will kill any game we have in our area with the right shot. And with a silencer it is possible to get multiple shots before what you are shooting at realizes what just happened and by that time it is too late. If you are hunting, even with a 22, the shot will alarm and bring in curious people. And those curious people are going to be problems. And realistically I could fend off intruders from quite a distance with a 22 and my silencer. I routinely practice 200 yard shots and at 200 yards anyone would be hard pressed to hear the shot or figure out where the shot came from. In my 22 AR it is literally the hammer hitting and the bolt cycling that you hear over the shot. In a bolt gun all you hear is the impact on target even if the target is dirt it is still louder at 100 yards than the shot. A few more things I would consider mandatory is a decent pellet rifle to take game quietly with and a slingshot for the same reason. You can also shoot arrows quite well with a slingshot making it effective for deer or larger animals when shooting isn't ideal. Dolomite

  16. I built mine and the tools cost no where near $100. Also, I used the step by step guide I printed from AR15.com. AR's are so easy to build that I think you'd be better off investing that $750 in some top shelf parts.

  18. About as loud as firing just the primer. Generally not loud enough to draw attention although running around shooting a firearm in what appears to be random directions probably will. Dolomite
