Hopefully this storm system will pass with no major damage, but just in case... TGO members have been known to lend a helping hand when needed, so if you or someone you know has suffered storm damage and is in need of assistance, post any information here. Try to be as specific as possible regarding the needs of those affected by the storms.4 points

Well, I have long held that the ability for one to keep (own) and bear (carry) a weapon is a right guaranteed us by the constitution of the United States. A right that I, and many others have fought for. Tennessee seems to think that I should pay them money for that right... I have objected for a long time, but finally I gave in. I figure it is better to pay what I should not have to pay than to wish I had later. I took the HCP class yesterday, and actually learned a bit about point shooting they did not teach in the Army. Aside form that my 12 year old would have passed. Today was DMV and prints. So yeah, I am looking forward to getting my permit in the mail. I also ordered a new EDC, as my full size Beretta 92 is a bit of a hoss for carry. I ordered the PX4 Storm Subcompact. I love that it has the same decocker and rotating firing pin that mine does. Afterall, getting shot in a gunfight is one thing, but shooting yourself is really bad.1 point

So I just finished watching the last episode of Top Shot. What the heck is up with all the touchy feely pansies on the blue team. I thought the one guy was going to CRY! He says, "I can't shoot my friends targets...I'd rather be with my friends." WHAT? Where did they find this little fairy? Are they gonna spoon after a glass of chardonnay? *sigh* I thought this was supposed to be a man's show, not Top Shot: Dr Phil edition.1 point

Very odd response at the gas pump yesterday in Smyrna. Was out and around with my Deacon from church on the way to a churchy event in Nashville. He's in his Roman Collar and I'm in a shirt and tie with my suit-jacket on the back seat. The Deacon's driving and I volunteered to pay for his gas. We stop for gas at Thornton's and I'm pumping. I get approached from behind (I REALLY HATE THAT!) by a skinny-shifty-seedy fellow wanting a few bucks for gas and yadda-yadda . . . I turned toward him, take a step back to increase the distance, with the left hand gesturing out and away "No! NO! -- Don't come up to me at the gas-pumps!" He's fixin' to ramp up the beg, seeing as my companion looks like a soft-touch pastor or something, and as I turned around to him he sees my HCP-legal EMP inside the waistband (as I don't have my suit-jacket on). He stops talking mid-sentence, backing up and, really, fleeing to his vehicle. He must have thought I was the Deacon's body-guard or something. I'm generally a CC HCP guy, my somewhat OC was an accident of a warm car that had my covering suit-jacket on the back seat instead of on and concealing my waist-banded pistol. I don't usually get the "run away! run away!" reaction like that, me being such a sweet and gentle guy and all . . .1 point

the gang bangers in Chicago will line up to get their guns registered. Once again the mayor is all over it with a cure.1 point

Probably gonna see a lot more "beggars" at gas pumps going forward. I may be one past $5/gallon! - OS1 point

My two oldest daughters are Girl Scouts. They had a Troop at Home Depot here in Collierville that was doing a cookie sales booth. As they were closing up for the day a man approached and sat near them. He kept staring at their table. There was another guy sitting in a car with his cellphone to his ear but he wasn't talking on it. The Troop mom called her husband who got there a couple of minutes later. As soon as the husband showed up the first guy left on foot and the guy sitting in his car drove away. I told my wife that her and my girls arn't working a booth unless it's my day off and me & Ed Brown are there.1 point

THIS, is the reason I pull back my shirt and switch to open carry when pumping gas.1 point

Anyone who doesn't have the ability to contact friends or family for help, is one who is a user and more than likely not to be trusted.1 point

Amazing to me then that they have been "trumped", in the states which have passed parking lot carry laws. And that none have been overturned through the court system as unconstitutional on state or federal level. - OS1 point

If you don't have all the tools to make that happen I'm sure there are plenty of folks here that would do it for you for free, myself included if you're in the area.1 point

Exactly. I doubt they run articles about everyone who's ever lived in N'ville and moved away. It fits in their anti gun agenda, the survey is a further slap in the face.1 point

What does a negligent shooting by a felon in Florida have to do with Tennessee? More anti-gun BS from the Tennessean.1 point

They may whoop us but I'll expose the red on my neck when I say, "Come get some anytime you're ready for it!"1 point

Right, a small group monarchy. It might not be the comfortable decision, but if I were Rick I would shot Shane already. You are right, there can only be one leader and his word must be law. If you disagree, LEAVE. Look how smooth TGO runs. Take it as example. Opinions are listened to, all of them, but at the end of the day one man, one decision. Opposition gets the hammer of justice. In a SHTF situation things MUST be run that way.1 point

I just built one on my wife's 9mm AR. It fits nicely in a small case that will hold other supplies as well. Dolomite1 point

Yes but the HK briefcase is a NFA item. As is any gun that is capable of firing from within a briefcase. This AR isn't for when you are actively being shot at, it is for when you see trouble coming as well as keeping a low profile while travelling. I was recently speaking with someone who carries firearms with them as they travel. They put them in tool cases like DeWalt or Ryobi so as not to raise suspicion when entering the hotel. I actually like this enough that it has made it onto my list of things to buy. I could put the AR as well as a few days of supplies into a cooler without anyone being the wiser. Dolomite1 point

Let's be honest, both are silly in consideration of self-defense. Like most toys, this is about coolness factor.1 point

Airborne, you did exactly as you should. The "gut" is one of the smartest parts of the body. You assessed the threat, reacted as needed for the situation. Turned out well. About as good as it gets. BTW, thanks for your service to your country from an ole Army Grunt.1 point

I don't think there is an argument for open carry... it is perfectly legal. It is up to the individual to decide if they want to or not. I would prefer everyone not know that I'm armed, but in a situation where contact is likely I may expose my weapon to deter a situation.1 point
