  1. I'm with you let's just not vote if "our" particular candidate isn't running...then we can have the muslim socialist for another four yeras or maybe for life as all the people living off the teet of government (which will be well over 50% before Obummer finishes another four yeras) will just annoint him as dictator. Either way, we can kiss our republic and our rights...all our rights, goodby. Yeah...not voting is a GREAT idea!! P.S - I suggest that your "revolution" talk would be better suited for a vigilianiti/militia group forum than TGO. "Just my opinion", of course.

  2. Don't get TOO excited, yet. Some of my craziest lib buddies are avid gunnies. Liking guns isn't a guarantee of the superior intelligence required to be conservative.

  3. I started to post about this the other day. No one seems to be using the "Vote post up/down" function. I think it's much better than the old "like" button. Now you get to show your malcontent as well as your approval.

  4. ...according to one of their employees today. While searching for a case for checking a gun as airline baggage in the near future, an employee explained that a customer once removed his handgun from his holster to see how it would fit a certain case. The employee stated that this guy actually had a round in the chamber! At this point, I thought, "Wow, what a dunce for un-holstering his gun in the store." However, the employee thought he was crazy for carrying a loaded gun. He went on to explain that customers must inform someone at the store that they have a gun upon arrival and that they are not allowed to have a round in the chamber. I replied that he meant guns that were going to have a scope mounted, worked on, etc. He said that, no, it pertained to people with carry permits as well. When I asked him if this was posted anywhere near the entrance, he replied, "No, but anyone with a carry permit should be smart enough to know that you can't just walk around in the store with a round in the chamber." I started to inform him of how wrong he was, etc., but thought better of it and ended the conversation by simply replying, "Wow, I didn't know that." I decided not to go all it's-our-2A-rights-as-Americans and leave well enough alone because, for all I know, this sheep could have been the store manager and might push to get the place posted or some hideous rule like he was describing. I double checked the front doors on the way out and saw nothing about guns. Ignorance is bliss.

  22. We have a basic problem that seems to set a different tone than for Ky and some other states: it's a crime to have a loaded gun, on person or in car. Also, the fact that it's a crime to possess a loaded gun past a no-carry sign lends weight to the employer side of the issue. Those two premises in our law just seems to make expanding carry an uphill battle, as they are a mindset that has to be ever overcome. - OS

  27. And on the opposite side of the spectrum I got my first rifle at 8, shotgun at 10 and pistol at 12 for Christmas. I kept all 3 in my room and had ammo and everything. It is a wonder that all of my friends didn't die... Like Bkelm18 said it is all about respect and maturity. My dad took a shotgun out back and blew a watermelon to pieces when I was about 6 or 7. He told me that a person's head would look just like that if I ever shot someone. Maybe a little over dramatic but it made an indelible impression. Yes, you learn to handle your emotions as you get older (most people anyway) but I've got friends in their 40's and 50's that I won't let touch any of my firearms while my son got his first shotgun at 12 and kept it in his room. Age is not even close to the only factor in responsible gun ownership

  28. I would think most of us HCP holders have more than one CCW. So, give one a try then move on to another one after shooting and or carrying it. We all need to have our back ups.
    1 point
  29. I also do not get the age thing. Time most people are in college, they are old enough to vote, old enough to die in the army via the draft, old enough to star in an "adult" film, have driven a car for 2+ years, and are just a couple of years from getting a job and being a "normal" adult. They are old enough to be legally responsible for their actions. There is no reason a student with a CCW permit (or not, in the states that allow it) should be unable to carry their weapon. There is every reason why they should be able to carry it, as this sorry incident shows. What is the fear? The same fear that people have when anyone has a gun: the person may get mad and shoot someone, the person cannot be trusted, there may be drugs or booze at XYZ location, there will be shootouts in the streets between rival drunk frat houses, there will be accidents, and so on. The list of imagined problems never ends. But no one protests the rights of students to have cars, which are proven to cause deaths on a regular basis, are often used in crimes, are often abused by intoxicated people, and so on. At the end of the day, there is nothing that can be said about a gun on campus that cannot be said about a car on campus --- some idiot could drive through the crowd lined up to buy football tickets, after all, and kill a lot of people in just a few seconds. None of the reasons for denial of weapons to permit holders make any sense (Yes, I include govt buildings, court, school, airports, and the rest of it) when you look at it from the "car" perspective.

  32. Why not everyone else has written him off. The Media says he cant win Though they neglect to mention that its about delegates and when the fuss and grumble of the media Leaves the only people Left who actually want to become delegates are Ron Paul supporters and they can vote as they see fit at the national Level so though a romney or a Santorum may have won and been awarded the states 50 or so deligates Id be willing to bet a large number of those deligates who will vote nationally will actually be RP supporters . But who cares anyways the Media says he is a bad man. The same media who is owned and controlled by the corperations he is trying to defeat say he is crazy if they mention him at all so you should probably vote for a Romney or Santoruum and intern give the white house to Obama for another 4 if we make it that long .All this talk of war and war and war and omg iran might attack us "same crap they said about Iraq" and nobody stops to say hey we cant even afford it even if we wanted to and the congress declared war on Iran legally where would we get the funds We just keep printing more money and more money but its ok because the media said so . You should write off Ron Paul to me 30 years of standing up for the constitutional rights of every citizen alone earns my vote No matter what the media or anyone else says I will choose Honor and Integrity over Lying , flip flopping, rich, politicians any day.

  36. Taking care of that lack of experience is what training is for and training should be encouraged. Unfortunately, a lot of "adults" who were raised around firearms need but don't get training. The way I see it, if you are old enough to die for your country you ought to be old enough to protect yourself from the thugs and two-legged piles of crap that walk around preying on people.

  37. So you are basically saying TN should raise the age requirement for getting a carry permit...? That is what it sounds like. At what age do you suggest people are mature enough to carry a firearm?

  38. HOW MANY innocent people have been injured or died at the hands of citizens who carry legally in states that allow them to carry in places that serve alcohol or churches? You're preaching to the wrong crowd.

  39. Any responsible gun owner should HATE hearing about something getting sideways with permit holders (or gun owners in general for that matter) but you seem terribly myopic on how those that would try to put the screws to ALL of us work. This is to say, have us concede, incrementally, ground we already have that's veiled as "for the greater good". There is no true defense against stupid. We are forced to live with it in some individuals everywhere every day. Don't give ground on their account.

  40. And had he: 1. Passed a more stringent permit exam 2. Decided to show off his gun in a packed Walmart parking lot instead of a church 3. Defeated the magazine safety by inserting an empty magazine (5 round mag just for you) and. . . 4. STILL forgot a round was chambered and pulled the trigger would your response be "Oh well, he met all my critieria and this is an isolated incident." or "We need another law." How do you think the Brady Campaign would respond?

  41. ...and we will lose them as well with people like you letting them in the back door with MORE legislation.

  42. Brady nut by your own admission. This is how they get in man, they get "greater good" ideas in your head. Once they're in, you can't get them out. You don't see a NEED for high capacity so you would set yourself against it? You would probably support national Id's and a national gun owners license too yeah? I wipe crap like this off my shoes before I go in at night. No guns in bars???? That's the same filthy hippy rhetoric the Brady camp spews everyday. Like some permit holder is going to belly up to the bar and get hammered like the old west. Churches are private and as long as the CHURCH [not you or any law making body] says it's cool, it's just like any business that welcomes permits or forbids it with proper posting. How are you going to get a stronger background check??? Go back to waiting periods?? AND gun show loop holes huh? There IS NO GUN SHOW LOOPHOLE!! When will you people get that in you thick head. It's no different at a gunshow than in your own living room. If two law abiding citizens with no priors want to sell/buy a gun to/from one another, it is perfectly legal. SO, that would mean you want to do away with private sales? Well, I'm one who's willing to fight about that. Good Day True Grit, do some soul searching, your priorities are misaligned.

  44. Even calling this issue the "gun show loophole" is biased. There is not now nor has there ever been a loophole. More importantly, the facts (and we do have them) simply don't support the assertions that criminals are getting guns at gun shows and/or that they are getting them because of a lack of background checks on private sales or that these guns are ultimately getting used in crimes; yet none of that information gets mentioned; one that Mayor Bloomingidiot thinks this is a problem; I suppose because he's solved all of New York City's problems.
