IMO State legislators and college administrators are responsible for the latest in a series of rapes on the Vanderbilt campus. http://www.tennessean.com/article/20120211/NEWS03/120211017?fb_comment_id=fbc_10150601706107458_21503455_10150609203732458 The police have since caught a suspect -- big whoop! -- of course, after the woman was raped. http://www.tennessean.com/article/20120213/NEWS03/302130031/Weekend-attacks-women-net-arrest-Vanderbilt-case If there were Campus Carry, even if there was Parking Lot carry in Tennessee, then the odds are this and other cases would not have happened. Criminals are stupid, but they are savvy enough to troll campus and hospital parking lots where they know their victims are unarmed. They don't frequent city parking lots as much, because they know they'd could get blasted by an HCP carrier. Lay the blame for these attacks at the feet of the state legislators, the college administrators, the hospital administrators that allow this to happen.2 points

"...the TSA insists the searches are purely randomized." That's their answer for everything. I was traveling this past June and out of my group of 4 I was the only one picked to go through a Body Scanner and I was picked every time we came to one. I've shaved my head and I'm growing my beard out so I can dress like a muslim and avoid all that hassle next time I travel.2 points

Brady nut by your own admission. This is how they get in man, they get "greater good" ideas in your head. Once they're in, you can't get them out. You don't see a NEED for high capacity so you would set yourself against it? You would probably support national Id's and a national gun owners license too yeah? I wipe crap like this off my shoes before I go in at night. No guns in bars???? That's the same filthy hippy rhetoric the Brady camp spews everyday. Like some permit holder is going to belly up to the bar and get hammered like the old west. Churches are private and as long as the CHURCH [not you or any law making body] says it's cool, it's just like any business that welcomes permits or forbids it with proper posting. How are you going to get a stronger background check??? Go back to waiting periods?? AND gun show loop holes huh? There IS NO GUN SHOW LOOPHOLE!! When will you people get that in you thick head. It's no different at a gunshow than in your own living room. If two law abiding citizens with no priors want to sell/buy a gun to/from one another, it is perfectly legal. SO, that would mean you want to do away with private sales? Well, I'm one who's willing to fight about that. Good Day True Grit, do some soul searching, your priorities are misaligned.2 points

wow, sure you are. Thank God we live in a place where we have the freedom to express ourselves as you are but how long do you really think it will be before they "your buddies" take your freedom of speech the way they have applied the regulations you speak of. There are places for people like you, like CA or NY where you can live with these regulations on guns that you speak of and feel all warm and fuzzy, but like you it isnt good enough and they want to complain about people several states away and try and impose their commie beliefs on everyone else. Out west they used to tar and feather people like this and run them out of town, not really sure if that was civilized or not anymore. Here is one for ya, the only regulation that should come from this is how much jail time he should get for his criminal neglegence.....2 points

He does love it Plank. He started with airsoft pistol and rifle with real gun rules. Was told if he learned and abided by the rules with those, he would graduate to bigger things. (A10, he got the same rule. Only touch if given express permission at the time.) That was two ruger .22s (rifle and pistol) and he bulls eyes those all the time, so he got a shot at the AR. I was tempted to let him give the 1911 a run, but I'm still thinking that's a bit much. Anyone have experience with little ones and pistols? What's a good age/indicator that they can handle larger?1 point

Making the decision to obtain a carry permit and taking the time and expense to do the classwork and range time is a serious undertaking. I'm always pleased to learn another person has gone to this effort to legally carry. I will suggest to you that further investments of time and money in training courses and range practice are prudent as well. Good luck to you.1 point

I started both my boys out at 8 on a rented ar-15. They are 10 and 12 now. Watching them shoot the ar-15 in a textbook kneeling position--priceless.1 point

Really? They should be giving those away with any purchase of a regular caliber Glock.1 point

Well never been to starbucks before but went this morning I Open carry and i saw atleast 2 others one had a coat over his but you could definatly tell it was there and another carried fullsize on hip as do I the store was packed so there may have been more carry conceal holders but either waythe hot chocolate was good never orederd coffe there so i would have felt kind of lame ordering something that sounded cool but tasted like but so I stuck with what I know. By the way to those saying Open carry may send the wrong signal Ive open carried every day since 3 weeks before Xmas Last year when we had a home invasion and my little inacurate 38 even with hollow points didnt even slow them down There was a crash at the door when I went to investigate there was a guy jerking my tv and xbox out of the wall when he turned around I saw a gun in his hand and so I started firing "what did he do after getting shot atleast twice??" he started shooting back and ran .. it was only by luck that Im even here so I went and picked up a Full size XD 45 5inch and my wife got a Judge and we both open carry because neither gun are concealable really but I will never sacrifice power and accurracy for concealability again just my 2 cents and I thank god tennessee is and Open carry state and will try to support any place of business that doesnt try and Prohibt it. anyways just thought Id share sorry for rambling1 point

I wouldn't say it's nothing. Even though they haven't taken a "pro-gun" stance, they have taken a stance to not further infringe upon our rights.1 point

You can, you can click the green up button at the lower right of the post to like it, the red down to NOT like it Thanks Jack.1 point

Thanks man, I didn't think so, because I, like them, would choose something that would be more likely to help me survive. A faster more accurate gun does that. Point is there is no down side particularly with the hi-cap. Ease of stripping or cleaning doesn't enter the eqation for me. I'm going to be carrying it and only cleaning it when it's safe to do so, and a couple of extra parts is no biggie.1 point

The difficulty of disassembly/reassembly of the 1911 platform compared to the Glock/Beretta/SIG platforms would keep me away from it, actually. Not something I'd want to mess with under pressure.1 point

The Senate Judiciary Committee will meet today at 3:30pm (Nashville time) and discuss this bill. You should be able to watch it here: http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/schedule/Default.aspx?type=Senate Click on the "View Video" link on the "Judiciary" line after 3:30pm and the video should be streamed live.1 point

I couldnt choose one. I like a 1911 for most things but there are a few times when you NEED a high cap pistol. And i couldnt overlook the availability of glock mags and parts. And glocks are cheaper to buy and easier to train a new shooter to operate1 point

GREAT! I loved it. This goes right along with it. For all those folks griping how revolvers can't be reloaded quick enough. I've posted this video many times, it never gets old.1 point

as I told a friend, if you want birth control then buy it. My opinion is that health care is a responsibility of the individual. Birth control is not something that you need to address a disease, Birth control is for those looking to avoid the responsibility of a child. it is your call but no where should that be on the tax payer or the group of people that pay collective premiums. where democracy always goes wrong is when the lack of responsibility turns into a voting bloc1 point

IMO, advertising like that just let them know what to expect and get ready ahead of time. The brother probably sent his sister thinking there would be a better chance he would open the door. Sad situation. I feel for his family and friends.1 point

Well, open carry in a hippy saturated environment causes panic. Panic does our cause no good at all. Sometimes the line between what is right/legal and what's smart and best for all of us is blurry.1 point

I have always felt that a HCP should allow the person to carry any sort of melee weapon (knife, stick, nunchucks, whatever). In the long run I would have anyone able to carry anything, but this would be a small step/victory and encourage more people to get a HCP!1 point
