Get her what she wants...after a while, she may well want something with a bit more power but be thankful she is at least willing to carry something! These small caliber guns may not have the stopping power you would want here to have but at the same time, no one with any sense is going to want to get shot with any caliber.2 points

Actually, most of the Russian .223 is bi-metal jacket. Lead core with a steel jacket coated in copper. "Steel core" has steel underneath the jacket but is not solid steel. It usually encases some lead. True armor piercing ammo has a solid steel core.1 point

I feel good about Santorum...of the three candidates I've given money to this year, he's the last one still in! Looks like I need to get out my checkbook again.1 point

Good discussion. Makes me think of the others in the house, both those I want to protect and those who may wish to do us harm. If I were in that scenario I would retreat to the hallway that leads to my wife and kids and defend it until LEOs arrive. I'm not gonna help someone and risk his accomplice(s) taking me out and/or getting to my wife and kids.1 point

All it takes for evil to triumph...is for good men to do nothing. I can't believe I am seeing these types of responses to something so blatantly unconstitutional? And on a Tennessee GUN forum...at that! Go back to sleep kiddies...perhaps there is something good on TV to occupy you? Your personal liberty is obviously something that's not important enough for you to worry about. Zulu Cowboy1 point

Somehow, I don't think a safety course would have made any difference. When common sense is absent from the equation, it's just not going to end well for someone.1 point

All government entitlements will eventually be by card. It costs just a few cents to transfer each card payment versus several dollars or more for each check or voucher transfer. FWIW, I'm against ALL government transfer payments. No matter how you slice it, it's robbing Peter to pay Paul and vote-buying. For every truly hard-working person receiving taxpayer money, there are at least four people just gaming the system to enable an indolent lifestyle and poor decision-making. We are paying people to do stupid things like; not work, have children they cannot afford, and believe they have a 'right' to other people's money. The problem with this is that eventually, you run out of other people's money. We are already headed down that steep path. Almost two-thirds of our budget is transfer payments for entitlements. And almost two-thirds of our federal money comes from borrowing. That's like a family that earns $20,000 each year, but spends $60,000 per year by running up credit cards and loans. One day, it will come to a crashing halt. We are seeing that in Greece, Portugal, Spain, and other countries. And we are borrowing more money to help THEM get out of their debt problems. Who will help US? It's a tall house of cards held up only by wishful-thinking.1 point

One flaw with the plan. You have to live with the 2-4 Supreme Court justices that O puts in. For the next 25 years. They'll be bad enough regardless, but if GOP doesn't get the senate, they'll be so far left you'll need binos just to see 'em. - OS1 point

I had the p-40 which is the p-11 in .40 cal, which fit into a pocket but was a little big for it. The pf9 is slimmer and will fit just fine. However it is a DAO with a fairly heavy trigger out of the box, and requires some lovin' and break in to get it running smooth. Kel tec pistols are sometimes a bit of trouble out of the box but they make up for any issues with outstanding service. I use the sig p238 as my most common pocket pistol. However, it is coming out in 9mm later this year, if you can wait I would get that instead as 380 ammo is expensive. There are a number of small 9mms on the market now, there is no reason to move to a 380 unless you are wearing skin tight rock star pants or something, the 9s will fit in normal mens clothing pockets. I have the beretta nano and it has a pretty hefty trigger but is quite small and pocketable as well and much, much better built than most.1 point

I'm still not seeing ANYTHING about him shooting the driver as he was fleeing. What I read was that he engaged the driver when he RETURNED TO THE SCENE TO GET HIS BUDDY. Sounds like a good shoot to me. And how 'bout this, I could give a DAMN about how something relfects on the "self-controlled" gun community when I think my life is in danger. So before hanging this guy some of you should consider how you would react in the middle of the night as someone invades your property, then comes back for more.1 point

Yes, I know but that was not my point...my point was the fallacy of the thought process of "it can't happen" whether it's "to me" or "in the U.S.". The government deciding to trash the Constitution (what's left of it) most certainly is something that could happen and all it will really take are those in power willing to do so and a public of mindless, dependent, sheep.1 point

TN's "castle doctrine" is not a license to execute the perp. Just an example, a perp drops to his knees with his hands in the air before you shoot, or after you shoot and wing him -- that doesn't give you the right to go ahead and terminate him. Yes, it would have to be proven beyond a reasonable doubt that you did, otherwise you have the presumption of justified shoot. Far as forensics, it doesn't take a CSI genius to make some uncomfortable inferences from a point blank head shot, multiple close up torso shots, etc. - OS1 point

If you put a red dot on a lever action, John Wayne's ghost will rise up & kick you in the nutsack. As far as .22shorts accuracy in the Henry, I get exceptional groups out to 50yds. At 25-30 It'll shoot a 5 shot hole you can cover with a penny. I have nothing but good things to say about Henry Repeating Arms. I'd part with my wife, truck & dogs before you get my Henry!1 point

Situational awareness. Those little devils are very dangerous, do not under estimate them. "Now remember, when things look bad and it looks like you're not gonna make it, then you gotta get mean. I mean plumb, mad-dog mean. 'Cause if you lose your head and you give up then you neither live nor win. That's just the way it is." Josey Wales1 point

The best comment... I say we give all of the mealy mouth, touchy feely, pretentious, self deluded liberals all of the problems they think they can solve with more government, more laws, more love, and more tolerance and send them to one side of the country. Then, those of us with a brain could live on the other side free of their constant stupidity, whining, rape of our civil rights, omniscient interference in our daily lives, anal retentive control methods, and theft of our resources attempting to create their psychotic idea of Utopia. It's time for a revolution folks.1 point
