  1. I finally got to shoot this B-1911 with an Israeli friend of mine. We put 200 rounds of WWB through it with nothing but smiles! My friend is not allowed to own a firearm, but that law has changed recently. He was a commander of a Merkava tank so now he is allowed to own a pistol. He says it will be a 1911. That son of a gun out shot me, which isn't saying much. The Bersa B-1911 is a fine pistol! My other 1911 is a Colt, which is 100% reliable.
  2. Thank you papa61. I will try a saddle maker!
  3. This old USAF parka and I have been through some seriously cold weather together. I bought it at Friedman's Army Surplus in NashVegas in 1979 (when Nashville was a big, small town) The problem is that the zipper has rotted out and needs to be replaced. The local seamstress says it is too thick to use with her sewing machine. Since then, I have tried an upholsterer, a curtain maker, and a tent maker. None of them want to replace anything. As a last resort I will sew it myself and screw it up. That is why I am asking TGO for any advice. The man in this picture was captured on my ring camera. I don't know who it is but he is strikingly handsome.
  4. That is a great family heirloom! My great grandfather Teal was the sheriff of Barbour County Alabama (Eufaula/Clayton) back in the 1890-1920s. One day a prisoner's wife bought a cake to the jail house for her husband. Grandpa said "This cake is so big we should share it with everybody." When he cut open the cake he found a Smith and Wesson .32 break top revolver in it. We called it the cake gun. My grandmother gave it to me when I lived in East Nashville. It was stolen and I never saw it again. I still get upset when I think about it. You take care of that revolver, ya hear? This is not the pistol......
  5. You will need to drop a grand to get this pistol. When I get to shoot it I will post the results.
  6. They are made right here in the good old USA. Kennesaw Georgia. They are hand fit by one gunsmith. It is tight! No rattles. 3.5 lb trigger. I haven't shot it yet.
  7. This isn't funny but it is ironic
  8. I went nuts on lasers when they first started coming out. Now I only keep a laser on my bedside pistol. The reason I stopped using them is that in daylight they are hard to see and I don't want to be looking for the red dot as the bad guy fires on me. A green laser is easier to see in daylight. If I had a choice, it would be green. I still have three Crimson Trace lasers, at night they are a formidable asset.
  9. I don't own any guns, but I am thinking about buying one.
  10. That's a hungry beast! Amazing! Thaks for posting.
  11. Below is the first reply I made. I miss read the OP. Sorry. My advice on a first handgun would be a 9mm. Smith and Wesson M&P, comes to mind. "My recommendation would be to immerse yourself in gun safety by reading, watching quality videos and getting some one-on-one training. You can get some really good safety instruction from the fine people on this forum. You will need to continue to learn and relearn safety, at least that is the way I have to do it. "
  12. I like to keep my sidearm at 3 o'clock, whether IWB or OWB. That way I always know where it is.
  13. The Green River Narrows in Western North Carolina was once the Mecca for extreme whitewater paddling. The Narrows of the green is the location of the annual Green Race. The most extreme kayaking race in the world. This video is the first descent after the destructive power of the flood that changed the river forever. This came out yesterday. The first video is the winning run of the 2022 Green Race to show what the river looked like before the flood. The second video of film a few days ago after the flood. Even though I have been whitewater kayaking since 1977, I have never run the Narrows of the Green River. I had a wife and kids to think about. BEFORE:
  14. "Like a brick through a plate glass window!" I love those pistols.
  15. My father was a country doctor in rural Georgia back in the 50s-60s. He made house calls and often the people had no money. He would bring home chickens, Moonshine, old furniture and such. One farmer gave dad a Perkins percussion cap, double barreled muzzle loading shotgun. Made in England. Oh wait! you said Parker...........never mind.
