Woman bought her a new one..

So me and the woman went to the Royal Range to goof off for a minute.  She came home with another little carry gun.  This one she can get in her pocket COMFORTABLY.  Her Solo fits too but won't sit still and is a bit thick & heavy.  This is thinner and lighter, at the cost of capacity, but it is what it is.  It's actually VERY well made.  $235+tax+$10  Not bad at all.

I bet she barks AND bites with full power stuff.  Thankfully Loading it down is a no brainer.  Maybe a 250g cast bullet loaded light?  Without the burden of feeding, my options are wide open.

I don't know why but I've wanted one of those every since I first read about them. I can think of more reasons not to buy one then to buy one but it doesn't matter, I want one!  Great picture and thinks for the posting!

First impressions, it's quite safe. The trigger pull is about three yards long. It's not bad when you consider what we're dealing with. It's very light actually, and then it stacks heavy at the end.

It's the first derringer type I've seen with a spring loaded barrel. When you pull the button back, it gently pops up on its own.

Yeah. there's a lot of technology in that little fireplug. I'm still trying to figure out the companies single shot .223 "sniper" derringer though.

Has anyone shot the .45? At 13oz that should be an experience.
From the specs this appears to be about the same size as a Kahr PM9 except thinner.

Shot it today. All I can say....it's brutal. Factory 230g loads are F'ing brutal.
Four rounds and I put it away.

Some judicious handloading do I see in this things future.

Does it fire both at the same time or with each pull of the trugger?

I wonder if they are going to make on in 45-70? I read an article where the author had arthritis in his wrist and elbow from shooting a derringer in 444 Marlin. Not interested in buying one, just want to watch the videos.

Firing both barrels with one trigger pull would make it a machine gun per ATF wording of multiple shots per trigger pull wouldn't it? Or am I thinking wrongly about that. I'd love to have a lil hideout Derringer, but man they look brutal to shoot in big calibers.

IIRC it comes in 9mmP too which of course is still going to pretty close to lighting off what'll probably feel like a .357 Magnum. For a last ditch BUG a couple of .45 ACP rounds at contact range would be devastating to the recipient. Given the shooter's going to have so much adrenaline pumping through them they probably wouldn't register on the harsh recoil.

Having purchased and used sub-caliber chamber inserts in the past I thought surely someone had such for a 9mmP or 45 ACP...nope, no such luck. If I were downloading a caliber for training purposes and reduced recoil in a derringer and couldn't select a .38 Special I believe the 45ACP you bought will prove more versatile.

Here's a suggestion and I plan on trying it myself soon. Chuck an empty .45ACP case into a lathe or drill press. Open up the primer pocket just enough to seat a 209 primer in the primer cup. Take prepared case and insert a wax bullet. Given I'm already looking for a SAA clone to do same with what the hay?

Actually, I'm about to order a 165g mold.  That will reduce recoil on an order of magnitude.  Some will inevitably cite the loss of what makes a 45 ACP effective by going lighter in weight and load BUT I say; Point blank, .452 in diameter, 165g (x2) of pure lead will ruin you.

...and yeah, i plan to use pure lead.  Velocities will not be high enough to need anything remotely hard.  I would say half the powder charge on a standard load is a waste anyway.  With such a super short barrel, there's a lot of powder burning in atmosphere not the barrel.  Efficiency is a function of everything working together.  A controllable load will be more efficient and 165g @ 750 fps or so will still stop a fight when hits occur inside 10-15 feet, which is why she bought it: Pocket carry for parking garage confrontation.

That sounds interesting.  I bet that makes it much more enjoyable to shoot or at least allow you to practice a bit more.

Same thing that happens to a regular hot glue gun.
That stringy crap would stick to everything. Almost worth cleaning it up to try it though. I would like to see the chrono
