Who's gonna be the first?

I see the front sight drum appears to be all the way to the right.  Is that "Mil-spec"?

Already out of stock since I posted -- guess will have no trouble selling all they can muster for a while, sans any general bad reviews of course.

They posted on Facebook today that it would be hit or miss and sold out quickly. Seems they were right, but don't worry about it. After the people who bought them today receive them in two weeks, they'll be all over Gunbroker for $200 more :stir:

Wish to hell, they would move the rear sight to the back of the receiver!  That would make a great rifle even better!!!

They had one at the NRA Convention.  The girl holding it was so pretty I didn't notice it, though.

I remember her, but honestly never saw the AK.

Sorry but no way @ $750 w/ no side rail.  Factory built wasr's are still the way to go at this point for a full size rifle.  With Cugir, Zastava, Molot, and Century all fielding better product(arguably in some cases) for lower prices I expect them to have a hard time competing once the "new" wears off.  Add on top of that the fact that Arsenal's can be had for a couple of bills more with all the bells and whistles.

That is what I was thinking.

At this price point, it is something that wasn't needed.

They'll probably do fine with them though. The attraction of Mericun made and backed up by PSA and all. Unless lack of an optic mount proves to be an Achilles Heel for sales. They'll probably add some railed top cover as an add on, generally a so-so solution,  but at that price point should have had a side mount base on it already IMNSHO.

You'd be correct.

 Ahh...so useless, then.

So, how would one put an RDS on these?  Are the rails that top the gas tube solid?

I personally run the Midwest Industries Aimpoint T1 specific top cover on my Saiga. The red dot mounts directly to the top half of the handguard. I've had that gun very, very, hot and I've never seen any change in the optic. I would recommend the Ultimak railed tube as well. Several buddies run it and it's solid.
