What in the?!?!......

KINGSTON, Tenn. — A pair of brothers who shot and killed a sheriff's deputy and his friend during a ridealong posted photos of the bodies on a sign outside their home.

Rocky Joe and Leon Houston said they "want the world to remember what happened" when uninvited guests shows up at their farm, according to the Knoxville News Sentinel. ..............

"The brothers stood trial three times on double-murder charges in the shoot-out. A jury deadlocked in Leon Houston's

first murder trial in 2008, and a second jury found him not guilty on all charges a year later. Rocky Houston's only murder

trial ended with a split verdict in December 2008, and Special Judge James "Buddy" Scott failed to declare a mistrial.

The state Court of Criminal Appeals ruled Rocky Houston couldn't be tried again."

I don't know enough about this one. Someone may need to educate me about this, but I know the policeone link says one thing

and the news article says a little different story.

no one really knows what happened that day, besides the two deceased, and the Houston's. They were tried and were not found guilty. Although their continued actions, make me draw conclusion. I don't think there was innocence on anyone's part. The Houston's claimed the deputy and his ride along were there to kill them. any or none of it may be true, who knows. I do know this though, the Houston's are bat #### crazy! They have had giant OSB signs with their whole story painted on them with stencils. there were like 4 sheets of 4x8 OSB on posts in the front yard describing how the county government was trying to railroad them. Apparently they have attached photos of the deceased for whatever reason. Probably just to stir ####

This whole thing could have been avoided. If ya do a search here on TGO (...and on line...), ya should find out more opinions about this incident than ya ever wanted to know. The news media along with everyone else needs to leave Rocky and Leon Houston alone. We do know that two people are dead, and that these guys have been tried three times and found not guilty. We also know that the State of Tennessee decided not to try to retry them. That should be enough for all of us. These are dangerous men and everyone (...including the news media, who tired to railroad them...) would do well to avoid a conflict with them. I dont know that these guys are crazy. I do know they wont be put upon. I also know that they need to be left alone.

This is true, although I think they brought the attention on themselves by posting the pictures. If they would just go back to being nobodies that no one cares about, this wouldn't be an issue. And your correct, I should exchange "Crazy" for "dangerous", because they are not one in the same.

background and all the rest aside...

In the linked page one of them says:

"We are trying to report federal crimes, and we feel like our plea has fallen on deaf ears," he said. "We're praying President Barack Obama will turn toward East Tennessee. I'm preparing a package for him right now."

Did I miss something or are these guys about to get a visit from the FBI..? That sounds like a threat to barry to me ??

What is threatening about that? People, including Barry, get packages all the time.

Based on the entire article, I think the package is supposed to contain what he believes to be evidence/proof that he and his family are victims of criminal activity at the hands of the government.

My thoughts as well.

Just as the Rodney King cops found out; state is state and Federal is something different.

As we have been discussing for a couple of days; free speech allows you to do and say stupid stuff. Just ask these two brothers. But using the 1st to justify posting those pictures blew up in their face.

Asking Obama for help because you think you have been railroaded by the government is laughable.

Hmm, so you think the feds should go in and fix what the state couldn't, or rather tried and dropped. A little too statist to me. If a state comes to

a conclusion, that should be the end of it. Don't care who they are. almost wreaks of double jeopardy to me. It also makes me wonder how many

times public opinion should run until it prevails. Mob rule.

"Yeh, we'll get 'em on something, because we can". I thought government was supposed to be about justice and not vengeance.

Putting words in my mouth again? It’s double jeopardy. Was it a problem with you when they did it to the LA cops?

They were home free and they kept poking the bear with a stick. They got bit. I don’t know enough about the case to comment any more than that.

ATF is involved that usually means gun charges.

We don’t have a justice system. But this may be justice; who knows.

What's with the sealed indictment? Are they mafia? You and I have a distinct difference of opinion about justice.

Actually I do have a problem with the feds coming in and using some other law, one specifically designed to entrap for race

or some other type of discrimination. So, yes, using the feds to fix some problems the state of Cali made for themselves, I

do have a problem. Find something to prosecute them on. all that matters.

I don't think I put any words in your mouth, either.  Again?

Reading comprehension 101. I said "almost wreaks of double jeopardy". But it is a disgrace to the state if they have to try and try, then give up,

only to have it become a federal case. You try someone and a trial says no, that should be it, unless there is another crime at a later date. I hope

that's the case here, but I sure would like to know why the state can't handle it. Sealed indictments are something I never understood, except in

maybe RICO or mafia stuff and that tells me the feds are only good to deliver when they overwhelm someone.

But that's just a personal opinion from someone who thinks there are too many laws to entrap just about anyone the feds want.

Since I have seen the evidence from that case, how a jury failed to to convict is beyond me. More less for the fact the brothers stories cannot be supported by the evidence at all.
It's been a while but I seam to recall a hung jury on one and they were both found guilty in a civil trial(multi millions).
