My first SKS refinishing job

Well I picked up my first SKS about a month ago. It's a good shooter but I wanted to make it look better, so I refinished it. I reblued the metal, cleaned up the stock, sanded, and put 3 coats of tung oil on. It looks so much better IMO for a 43 year old rifle. I think it's a keeper.

Below are some before and after photos.

Wow, great job! How long did it take you?

Actually it went pretty quick. I didn't keep up with my time but would estimate about 7-8 hours of actual work. I worked on it an hour here and there over a couple of weeks.

I just used Birchwood Casey "Super Blue" Liquid Gun Blue that I picked up at Academy Sports.

I don't care what everyone else says, it looks nice.

How does it shoot?

The bore is clean and rifling is in really good shape. I've only had a chance to put around 60 rounds through it so far but have been impressed to this point.

The biggest thing that holds back the accuracy on these IMO is the crappy sights. I've heard the Tech Sights for these do wonders.
